During the Fish match she announced that Andy wasn't the only British player still involved in Miami as Hutchins and Fleming were due to play their second round doubles match tomorrow. Fed has lost 315 points, Andy so far has gained 170.

However as Andy started the tournament 1900 points behind Federer even a net gain of 485 still leaves a long way to go before number 3 is possible getting the remaining 820 points available this week would however bring number 3 a lot more into view again.

I really like watching him too, he's one of my favourites. I love how he uses the pace from his opponents to counterpunch so well - many of them get so frustrated that he forces them into errors. Horses for courses. Andy just trades shots with Simon (great practice as I always say) and wears him down. Nine wins on the trot. Simon has yet to come up with anything to break the cycle and, frankly, while it is good to see Andy being more aggressive with certain other opponents, in this case, why change a winning formula?

Well said Andy doesn't need to be aggressive in order to beat Simon. He can get away with passiveness against players like Simon the majority of the time. Harsh to say it passiveness too, more like common sense play and intelligence. Patience, consistent play which will frustrate the opponent. Andy needs to play aggressive against the likes of Nole, Fed and Rafa and to be fair he has done in the past.

Anyways another W in the bag. Onwards and upwards for Andy :cheer:

I was too knackered to watch the end but I enjoy watching Simon too - same reason - he grinds players down and runs for everything!

But it was Andy with his head firmly focused, not rushing, mentally into the match and doing just what he had to do to get the result in straight sets.

Altho' she did echo what I was thinking, that Simon was all over passive Andy but when he was aggressive he had no chance.
