Shame Colin/Ross can't get a place, won't help their year end goal.
But they can get a place.
There are 6 on-site spaces (OS) so they stand a very good chance of getting one of those spots. Quite a few players end up not able to participate in the doubles so it's likely they'd move up to 3rd or 4th Alt anyway. On their performance this year they might even get a WC from the Tournament Director.
They are not playing anywhere in the week after Davis Cup so they'll have plenty of time to get to Monte-Carlo

I really hope Colin and Ross get an on site spot and there is probably quite a good chance they will get a spot.
Glad they have a week off, as they always seem to be on tour. Need a break. Think they can fair well on clay as Colin won Casablanca last year (with Zelaney I think) last year when Ross was resting up his wrist.
That's so exciting :yahoo:
Looking forward to this! Really rooting for Colin and Ross getting a spot!
At the risk of sounding really stupid, can someone explain how they can be ranked 10 in the race and still not automatically qualify???
Because they go on the rankings, not the race, for qualifying. Also singles players entering doubles can use their singles ranking, so if they all entered that would in effect make everyone twice as far down the rankings as they really are. Additionally, as well as the race being current year only, it applies to the pair, whether the rankings are individual and they add together the rankings of the two players.

I don't believe so - during Andy's match, the commentators mentioned the doubles and said it wasn't televised "of course"!
Can't see why not! Is the British tennis-watching community as a whole so uninterested in doubles - I never get that! Especially when Brits are playing!
Peter Fleming said a few minutes ago that the doubles match would not be televised - I'm really hacked off about that:grrr:
But I wish Jamie and Andy good luck in the match

That's a shame  I think they'd be surprised at the viewing figures they'd get if they did show doubles matches featuring top singles players, especially those with Andy!
yes - it's disappeared from the livescorehunter schedule :grrr: I was really looking forward to that.

Absolutely! I think it's really short-sighted of them, but unfortunately they don't listen to me :)

Perhaps it could have a bit easier but glad it was a convincing win, well done Jamie and Andy! :cheer::cheer:Hopefully they can step to at least give it their best shot against the Bryans. Bound to be tough, but the Murays do have the advantage of match play here.
Well done Andy and Jamie! :cheer:
Well done Andy and Jamie. :cheer::cheer::cheer: Nothing to lose against the Bryans - just go out there and give them a pasting!
Their match against the Bryans is tomorrow [Thurs] on Court 2 - not before 1.30pm MC time.
Good luck, guys!
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 10:29
Andy might be back on court in an hour or so! He and Jamie are due to play the Bryans, not before 12.30pm UK time, after the FyrMat v Paesanek match.
Wishing Jamie and Andy all the best against the Bryans - not an impossible task.:thumbup::thumbup: I have a feeling that Jamie has beaten them before in USA, but don't remember when, or who his partner was - maybe Myrni, Butorac or even Andy? I'm sure somebody will be able to put me right on that:) On the other hand I may have imagined the whole thing!!!:)
They are up on LS now. I thought it was raining in Monte Carlo, but play seems to have continued on court 2. Is it indoors?
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 12:10
but play seems to have continued on court 2. Is it indoors?
Court 2 has a 'tented' type of roof but is open at the 4 sides.
Match is indeed underway; 1-1 first set.
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 12:25
It's not easy to see but if you look at the court at the very left of this photo you'll see a long white 'bar' - that's the 'roll-out' roof that they can use to cover the court.
http://fr.montecarlosbm.com/content/uploads/2012/03/tennis_gf-2.jpg
Our lads have just been broken ..... Bryans serving at *4-2.
Yes!!! Broke them straight back!:yahoo:
4-4 wish I could see this
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 12:35
Can only watch doubles if it's a Challenger!!!
Livescorehunter has dubs matches being shown on streams from Rome and Santos.
:grrr:
3 games in a row! Now make that 4, please...
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 12:38
The Bryans are fighting back - *5-4, 15-40.
Bryans escape another DD to go 6-5. This must be such a good game to watch!
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 12:49
From Linda on twitter:
Watching dubs. Crowd very much on side of murrays
I was going to ask her to tweet the stream she'd found but then I realised she was sat courtside.
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 12:51
Jamie served a DF on set point ... so the Bryans have the first set in the bag 7'5.
EDIT: Linda confirms the above.
Also, andy is serving first in the 2nd set so it was Jamie who got broken in the 4th game.
Oh no................. lost the first set 5-7
Oh dear....1-4 down and about to serve
Not looking so close this set. Come on, MurMur!!
Are they getting hungry for a kitkat? 0-30
Bryans broken ........ now 3-4, with J&A to serve
Yes, back on serve at 3-4!:yahoo:
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 13:16
Jamie to serve - needs to hold this time.
The Bryans have won nearly all the DD points, but our boys won that one on Match Point!!
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 13:27
DF from Jamie - not a good start.
*0-15
*15-15
*15-30
Linda @Linda4tennis (https://twitter.com/#%21/Linda4tennis)

So many close games, but they go down 5-7 4-6
Sallydaisy
19-04-2012, 13:30
*30-30
*30-40 and matchpoint to the Bryans
GSM The Bryan Brothers 7'5, 6'4
The lads made a lot of chances but missed out by not playing the key set points well enough.
Bad Luck Guy's............thanks for the comments folks!!!
The Bryans won 7-4, 6-4. Such a pity, as J & A seemed to be giving the Bryans a run for their money - I'm gutted - especially for Jamie:sad:
A good showing, against the world number 1s, I would say - well done guys! It was good for Andy to have the extra match practice too.
Meh. Pity they couldn't take the chances they had in the first set.
Shame, but the Bryans are a class act.

19-04-2012, 18:05
Yes it was always going to be tough and a good effort from Jamie/Andy! Just a pity they couldn't make more of their chances in the first and Bob/Mike likely gained confidence as the match progressed. Shame for Jamie particularly, though glad Andy had more match time today after the singles was curtailed.
