A British win in the women's hockey with a 4-0 victory against Japan.
Great Britain's women began their campaign for hockey gold with a 4-0 win over Japan, but picked up two injury worries late on. Captain Kate Walsh was struck in the face by a Japanese stick, before playmaker Helen Richardson also had to be helped off the pitch. GB play Korea in their second group match on Tuesday.

Have to keep an eye out for the mens hockey. My work colleague is an umpire.
Mens team currently cruising, 4-0 up against Argentina, live on BBC3.
They've cruised. 4-1 isn't too shabby.

Dave & I were lucky enough to be at the Olympic Park today, watching women's hockey at the Riverbank Arena - fantastic atmosphere and really fun to watch - never seen live hockey before but it was great fun!
Didn't get to see GB unfortunately, but watched Australia beat South Africa 1-0, and the Netherlands beat South Korea 3-2 in a really exciting match. Loads of orange-clad Dutch fans going happily bonkers as usual, and one very loud & proud South Korean sitting right next to me - great fun!
Didn't get to see GB unfortunatelyJust as well looking at the score...

HOCKEY (19:00-20:30): Team GB (women)
Great Britain's women face a potentially do-or-die clash with Olympic champions the Netherlands. If China beat Japan in the afternoon, GB will need a draw to reach the semi-finals. The British won their opening three group matches, but a shock 2-1 defeat by China means they still have work to do.

GB's women's team qualify without any bullying after a shock win for Japan over China.

HOCKEY (19:00-20:30): Team GB in Men's Hockey
Great Britain's men take on Spain needing a draw to reach the semi-finals, following a dramatic fightback in their last match from three down to draw with Australia.

HOCKEY (20:00-21:20): Team GB v Argentina, women's semi-final
Great Britain's women are through to the Olympic semi-finals for the first time since 1996, but they face a tough task against Argentina. 'Las Leonas' are ranked number two in the world and on a mission to finally win Olympic gold for hockey superstar Luciana Aymar. Argentina beat Britain 1-0 in the Champions Trophy final in Rosario earlier this year, so expect this one to be tight.

The GB team have been beaten 2-1 by Argentina. They had plenty of chances, but just couldn't score until five minutes from the end and there just wasn't enough time for them to get back in the match after that. So, the gold is gone, but there's still a chance to win bronze when they play New Zealand later in the week.

HOCKEY (19:50-22:10): Great Britain v Netherlands, men's semi-final
Great Britain's men will attempt to go one step further than their female counterparts by reaching the hockey final. Doing so would guarantee them at least a silver medal, but they will need to beat Netherlands to do it, who have won all of their matches so far at the Games. Australia meet Germany (15:30) in the other semi-final.

It's not going well in the hockey:
Great Britain are being torn to shreads out at the Riverbank Arena. As I start typing that sentence it was 7-1 to the Netherlands. As if to prove my point, it is now 8-1. I'll leave it there before I have to start racking up double figures. Less hockey, more butchery out there at the moment.
That was 20 minutes ago. It's 9-2 now.
Robert Moore slides in to poke home a goal for Great Britain and make it 9-2 against the Netherlands. The home fans take the chance to get stuck into their counterparts with a good-natured chorus of 'You're not singing any more' followed by "10-9, we're going to win 10-9!".
Genius!

HOCKEY (15:30-16:55): Great Britain v Australia, bronze medal match
Great Britain's men suffered a humbling 9-2 defeat in their semi-final against the Netherlands, but world number one side Australia will have been equally disappointed to have lost to Germany when many tipped them for gold. Britain and Australia met in the group stage in one of the matches of the tournament, the home side coming back from three down to draw 3-3.

Australia score, so they're 1-0 up after 18 minutes played...
Anybody know why the hockey teams play in plain outfits rather than Team GB kit?
GB equalise from a penalty corner, 1-1 HT.
I thought Australia were going to run away with this one, but somehow we're still in it.

C'mon Team GB! I'm watching this and the footie final.
He is back at work on Tuesday so we are going to have a wee celebration for him! :thumbup:It's a good job he's not umpiring the bronze medal match or you may have had to organise a "get well soon" party for him!
It's not looking great at the moment. GB are 3-1 down with only 10 mins left.
It's all over. No medal for GB, unfortunately, but they were second best for large parts of the match.
