After a horrendous start in the first Finn-class race, British triple gold medallist Ben Ainslie clawed his way back through the field to take second place behind Dane Jonas Hogh-Cristensen. Heh got a better start in the second race, but again finished second behind the Dane.
However, as Ben always seems to start slowly, he's looking pretty good so far!
Ben's currently 4 places ahead of the Danish guy in the final round - if it finishes like this they'll be tied on points going into the medal race!
Watch the sailing now!
Ben Ainslie was well in the lead, now it looks like he's slowing down to have a go at the Danish guy - steal his wind and put a boat between them or even try and get a penalty.
Shouldn't have made him angry!
I had no idea that there were such tactics in sailing!
He did it too - managed to get the Dutch boat in between them which means now "all" he has to do is beat the Danish guy in the final to win gold!
Worth watching that race back even if you've never seen a sailing race before - great stuff!

SAILING - Medal Races
13:00 - Star Class - Iain Percy & Andrew Simpson
14:00 - Finn Class - Ben Ainslie
Ainslie has been involved in a dramatic battle with Denmark's Jonas Hogh-Christensen all week and he goes into Sunday's decisive Finn medal race knowing a fourth gold medal is tantalisingly close. Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson might be a safer bet (13:00) for Britain having dominated the Star class.

Bens race will definitely be one to have on the computer while andy is beating fed on the telly!
Aww the Brits pipped to the post in the Star class. Still a Silver, though.
Hopefully Ainslee will get the gold in the Finn class.

Hopefully Ainslee will get the gold in the Finn class.they'd really struggled to get accross the line there

A little disappointing in a way, though - silver is great, obviously, but they've been ahead of the field since the very first race, and just got pushed out in the final few moments. I think they'll be gutted, to start with at least
Can't help feeling if they hadn't spent so much time messing about with the Brazilians they could have taken that

Exactly. I can't say I really understand some of the tactics in sailing, but it seems a bit shortsighted to be trying to stick to the Brazilian boat, when the Swedish boat was so far ahead of the two of them. I'm sure in the commentary they said Sweden had been in silver medal position coming into this race, so would it not have made more sense to concentrate on them?
Maybe I'm missing something...

Shame, but still a silver medal so bravo to them.
Ben Anslie up next he should be set for another gold.

Neck & neck between Ben Ainslie & Jonas Hogh-Christiansen in the Finn medal race - they're currently 7th & 8th respectively...but if it stays that way it will be gold for Ben.
Ainslee wins the gold! It was very close! :cheer:

Never knew sailing could be so exciting! What a tight finish. Well done Ben!
Love the sailing- cant believe the tactics for the British girl in the laser to get a medal were to a) cause a false start by driving too many boats over the line, then b) make her rivals get disqualified on the restart!

SAILING (13:00-13:20): Nick Dempsey, men's RS:X Windsurfing
Nick Dempsey and Bryony Shaw reach their medal races - possibly the last-ever windsurfing races at an Olympics, with the sport set to be replaced by kiteboarding for Rio 2016. Dempsey lies in silver medal position going into the decider, with the gold already secured by Dutchman Dorian van Rijsselberge, but Bryony Shaw will struggle to match her bronze from Beijing as she is down in seventh place (14:00).

SAILING (13:00-13:30): Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell, 470 class medal race
Great Britain's Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell are guaranteed at least silver in sailing's 470 class on Thursday but could go one better if the otherwise-dominant Australian crew of Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page have an off-day. Realistically, nothing short of a win in the medal race can improve GB's standing. Even then, it is in the hands of the Australians. But an exciting climax and a medal are both promised.

There's no wind in Weymouth, so they've delayed the race for a while. It might've been fun to watch them paddling to the finish with their hands, but apparently the officials haven't gone for that option.

SAILING (09:00-22:45): Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell, men's 470; Saskia Clark and Hannah Mills, women's 470
Patience and Bithell are guaranteed silver and hope to overhaul Australia's Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page for gold in the medal race (12:00), which was postponed on Thursday because of light winds. That sets up a potential day of double gold for Britain's sailors, with Saskia Clark and Hannah Mills going into the medal race (13:00) of the women's 470 level at the top of the standings with New Zealand's Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie

Let's hope it's a bit windier out there today!
Well done to both our teams for bringing home silver - great effort!
