Great Britain's women going well in the qualification rounds for the Team Competition - currently in fourth position with Beth Tweddle (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19039955) looking in great form on the Uneven Bars. Yesterday the British men qualified in third place for Monday's team final, with Louis Smith (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18909754) topping the table on the Pommel Horse.
The men's team final is about to start in 10 minutes. Channel 451 on Sky. It may be covered on BBC1 too.

Currently on BBC1 - the British men qualified in third place, so if they can keep that standard up they could be in with a chance of a medal - which would be the first team gymnastics medal for Great Britain for 100 years!

We're watching this on HD. The kids do gymnastics so they are pumped. Shame there's no Team Canada but i can cheer for Team GB.

Fantastic! Not just bronze but SILVER medal for the British men's team - first team rotation medal since 1912 :big grin:
Japan had a nightmare on their last pommel horse routine, pushing GB up to silver medal position!

What a nerve wracking end - and all because japan put in a poor score at the very very end!!!

Team GB

Just been watching it! :silver:
Well done team GB :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Wow, well done Team GB!! :silver:
There is an inquiry going on about the Japanese dismount. Posibility GB could go into bronze if Japan win inquiry and go up over 0.5
edit - if Japan go up less than .491 GB still get silver.

Aaargh! This is all very tight.
It all hinges on whether the Japanses dismount was credited - he landed so it should have been counted, but with a heavy penalty - however if the judges didn't include the dismount in the score, then the Japanese total could go up by 0.5 and that might push GB back down to Bronze.
Hold your breath...!
Edit: the enquiry has been validated, so the Japan score will go up.....but by how much?!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. GB now take bronze.

Japan have been awarded extra points for the dismount, so they move up to silver, and Britain have to accept bronze.
Still an amazing result, but a shame that it looked even better for a while - crowd are booing, which I guess is understandable, but the result is fair.
We go down to bronze :(
But it's still a medal :big grin:

WELL DONE THE GB BOYS!!!
:bronze:
After that wait for the enquiry it seems the jury have made a fair decision.

It was fair - it's just a shame it happened that way, because it looked like we had an almost unprecedented silver for a few minutes!
Great Britains last Olympic medal in this event was exactly 100 years ago in 1912, and that was a bronze as well - still an incredible performance though, and well deserved...!

It is a shame but it seems that the Japanese guy did 'dismount' rather than fall so it should have been counted and it hadn't been. Fair play to the judges - they relooked at the videos, decided it should have been scored (with appropriate deductions?) and made the correction.
At least we still got a medal - and that's quite something after 100 years!!!
They look so proud taking their medals.
I like the flowers they get.
One of the Japanese having to hop to get his medal.

Brilliant bronze for GB. :yahoo: That was pretty great even if they did get demoted! Harry and Wills looked rather chuffed too.

The bronze medal winning British men's artistic gymnastics team have been talking to the BBC:
Daniel Purvis: "If someone said before the competition we'd get a bronze I wouldn't believe them, just to get a bronze is a dream come true. Getting a bronze is unbelievable."
Max Whitlock: "Everyone has done an amazing job, everyone worked so hard for this. To do this in a home games is incredible."
Louis Smith: "We'd have been happy with anything, to get a medal is unbelievable. It has been such a journey for us to get here. I would like to say a big thanks to our reserves, they have pushed us on and we did them proud."
Kristian Thomas: "It was fantastic, and to do it in front of a the home crowd here in London… It is a once in a lifetime experience and we've made most of it. I'd like to give full credit to our team, coaches and everyone back home."
That's a fantastic result for the British team! I think there will be more to come through the week.
Well done the boys! Let's hope the girls have a good day tomorrow.
Well done boys. :bronze: :swingin:
Hope the girls will have a great day. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

GYMNASTICS (16:30 - 18:57): Dan Purvis, men's all-around
Following Britain's superb bronze medal in the team event, Purvis is a genuine medal contender in the individual all-around event after finishing fourth at last year's World Championships and qualifying in fifth in London. Team-mate Kristian Thomas made it through in 10th place.
Japan's brilliant Kohei Uchimura is the favourite to land gold, having won three consecutive World titles since taking silver in Beijing.

GYMNASTICS (15:41): Louis Smith, Men's Individual
Smith won bronze on the pommel horse in Beijing, becoming Britain's first Olympic gymnastics medallist for 80 years, and is a candidate for gold in London after finishing top in qualification with one of the most difficult routines in the world.

Just watched the replays of the gymnastics - how was that not gold for Louis Smith!?
Basically just on a version of "countback" as they were scored the same, but the execution score for Louis was slightly lower...
Well done Canada for yesterday.
Well done GB boys in gymnastics :silver: :bronze:

Lovely medal ceremony!
When Louis was announced, rather than step straight up on the podium, he walked along the back and round to the front where Max Whitlock was standing on the bronze medal podium, gave Max a big hug, then carried on round to step up on the silver medal podium :)
Maybe a tad cheeky, but lovely to watch :big grin:

GYMNASTICS (14:50 - 15:24): Beth Tweddle, women's uneven bars
This is the big chance for Beth Tweddle to finally win the Olympic medal that has eluded her in more than a decade at the top of the sport. The 27-year-old Liverpudlian, who has won three world, six European and seven British titles, topped the leaderboard in qualification on Sunday ahead of He Kexin of China and Russian Viktoria Komova. China's four-time world and defending Olympic champion Chen Yibing is one to watch in the men's rings final (14:00).

A bronze for Beth Tweddle, just a step back on landing away from a gold.

Pity about the dismount, but glad Beth got a medal, well done!
After a great first vault, Kristian Thomas fails to land his second vault properly and misses out.

Well done Beth!! :bronze:
Sooooooo pleased for Beth!! A shame she didn't nail the dismount - going out on gold would have been wonderful but she does have her Olympic medal - it would have been heartbreaking if she had missed it.

Rhythmic Gymnastics is a weird 'sport'.
They're all very sparkly. And bendy. Is that good...?
