It's taken 65 minutes of good pressure, but Great Britain are 1-0 up! Great goal, scored by Steph Houghton.
Should have been 1-1 there...
2-2 France v. the USA, France were 2-0 up.
The USA eventually win 4-2.
First controversy of the Games, the ladies football match between North Korea and Colombia has failed to start on time, allegedly because the screens at Hampden put the South Korean flag up beside the pictures of the North Korean team, and they are apparently mortally insulted.

OMG I can hardly believe that - hugely embarrassing if it's true!
KnightOwl

Yep, just seen confirmation on BBC. As the teams we being introduced, the South Korean flag was displayed on the big screens in the stadium. Apparently the North Korean team coach ordered his team off the pitch in protest, and they turnd to the dressing room. The kick-off has been re-scheduled for 21:00 and I believe the teams are now coming back out.
I guess, in theory, the Koreans could have been penalised for refusing to start the match - there must be rules in that respect - but it looks like they've handled the situation sensibly - it would have been even worse I think if, for example, they had been disqualified for leaving the pitch.

1-1 in the GB v Senegal match. Shame, as that might be GB's only chance to record a win. Hopefully they can keep improving - at the moment they still look a bit like a scratch team that has been put together at the last minute.
Craig Bellamy got a bit of stick from the crowd (because he plays for Liverpool), but it was nice to see that he won them over in the end.

We'll let you off ljs, but only cos we're 25 places further up the medal table than Canada ;)
The atmosphere at the match was fantastic - but the British girls never quite seemed to get it together, and Canada were too good on the night. Well played!

Canada now 3-2 up! What a game!
RoastLamb

So unfair! USA had three lousy goals and we had three excellent ones. Bummer.
USA snatch it right at the death.
It's ok they can still pull it back in the 3rd quarter...

Heartbreaking loss for us but I thought we did really well overall. USA played better in extra time. Hopefully we can still win the bronze.

So happy that Canada won the bronze medal. Some consolation at least. Their coach is a geordie dude called John Herdman. I think he's really turned around the team. Excellent job!

He was certainly very animated in the match we went to - he was jumping around hugging everyone when Canada beat GB!
