We used to have a thread for this but don't seem to have set one up for over here .....
Just wanted to say I went to see Sister Act last night and it was one of the best musicals I've ever seen - absolutely loved it! Hilarious and great music and talented folks!

Thanks for starting this thread Jane, I wasn't sure there would be one when I went looking! I am going to see Les Miserables on Saturday at the Queens Theatre in London, can't wait! My husband and I have booked a 4 day mini-break in London from this Thursday to next Monday to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary (anniversary was in May but couldn't go then). Lovely grandparents are having the kids, really looking forward to it.
Anybody seen Les Mis?

Last Saturday I took my kids to Buffalo, NY, to see How to Train a Dragon at the theatre. It was one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. They had a whole wall across most of the arena that they used to show actual animation and then the live performances were choreographed against this wall. Unreal. I've never seen anything like that before. And the dinosaur animatronics were out of this world - superb.
I don't go to the theatre much anymore. It's too expensive esp. as I have to pay for two kids now too. The Dragon show was part of a Groupon deal so I saved about 40%. But I would like to see Chicago, Cabaret, Ragtime and Dirty Dancing at some point. I've seen Les Mis, Joseph, 42nd Street, Annie, Oklahoma, Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King but that was pre-kids when we could afford such luxuries. :rolling: I do take the kids to see the Christmas Panto every year.

You've seen quite a few there RL!
My eldest goes to the West End every year with school to see a show; so far she's seen 'Wizard of Oz', 'Wicked' and last week she saw 'Shrek the musical. Last time I wentto the theatre was 4 years ago - Grand Theatre in Leeds, to see 'West Side Story', which was brill! Never been to the West End though, so I can't wait for Saturday!

I went to see Annie and Oklahoma during a school trip to London back in 1980. So cool. Never been to NY broadway so would like to do that. All the other shows were in Toronto.

I went to see Joseph again in Perth last month - my niece's drama group won the right to be the chorus for some of the performances so she was right there sitting on the stage right at the front on the steps - it was fabulous seeing her in such a big show! They all got certificates to say they'd been in the Joseph choir, and all the main cast signed the back of their certificates! A brilliant experience for her and her wee friends! She's only 9!

Hope you enjoyed Ghost today traveller
It was a brilliant experience for her - so much so her drama group put her forward for a part in their show of Annie and she got it - she's also been auditioning for a part in the pantomime in Pitlochry this year - my brother doesn't think she'll get it but as only 25 auditioned, for her to even get that far is amazing!

Good luck traveller! My niece wasn't bothered cos if she'd got the panto part she wouldn't have been able to be Molly in Annie and she really wants to do that!

Glad you enjoyed Ghost Traveller and good luck with the panto audition!
What a lovely experience for your niece being in the Joseph choir Jane! I hope playing the part of Molly in Annie goes really well for her.
I saw Les Miserables in the West End on Saturday and it was absolutely brilliant! I took my tissues Pabbers and boy did I need them. Great show and a great cast. The guy that played the lead, Geromino Rauch (there's meant to be an accent on the o in Geronimo but I can't do it on my keyboard) had an incredible voice and he brought the house down with 'Bring Him Home'. Danielle Hope won the part of 'Dorothy' on Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for a star on the BBC a couple of years ago played the part of Eponine and she was excellent too. It was just superb and the whole trip to London was fab, back down to earth with a bump today though but it was great to see the kids again last night.
Glad you enjoyed it GL.
We're off to London in November as a group of girlies from our village. We're hoping to pick up last minute tix to The Lion King. Some haven't been before - I have and loved it. I cried at the very beginning! Can't wait to go again.
Am in our village panto this year. It's our tenth anniversary so we're doing Cinderella. I'm playing Dandini, Prince Charming's valet. Oh yes I am!!!
