Fancy Almagro to win in Nice (defending champion) He was unfortunate to not beat Ferrer yesterday. Lights out tennis at times. Also got the most wins on clay this year.

Baker is the surprise package in nice, came through the qualies with some impressive wins, then disposed of Sergei Stakhosky in the first round. And he has only gone and took the first set against La Monf. On serve in the 2nd. Never heard of this player before this tournament!

That is well and truly stunning from Brian Baker saving 3 set points in the tie breaker in monstrous fashion. Now at 8-9 he saves another SP with a 2nd serve ace! He wins the next 2 points to win the match!!!!!! Truly stunning stuff.

Just found out he's making a comeback at the age of 27! Before he was a coach!

Unbelievable!

He was going to be the next big thing in American tennis but then he kept getting injured. Great to see him come back!

I've never heard of him before. Could be a bit of a worry at RG.

I think what's "nice" is that you know he'll appreciate all the success that comes his way.

Would you Adam and Eve it? Baker defeats Kuksuhkin in 3 sets saving a match point along the way to book himself semi finals berth! Stunning, truly stunning!

He'll play Davydenko in the semi finals.

Almagro v Simon is the other semi final.

Fine win for Almagro in the semis, 6-1 6-3 over Simon. Almagro by the way has the most wins on clay this year. Will play the winner of Davydenko and Baker which is just about to commence.

Wow, how about that. I saw he'd lost the first set and thought it was all too much for him.
He's up against Almagro in the Final tomorrow - the Spaniard beat Gilles Simon 6'1, 6'3.

Forecast for Nice is rain all day .......

Well done Almagro. I did think he would win - the BB story would have been just too much of a fairy tale if he'd won!

DaveArneRiise
26-05-2012, 20:23
What made it even more amazing was that BB came through the qualies!

Delighted for Nico though, another title on clay :cheer:
