I think Katie Boulter deserves her own thread as she qualified for Beijing beating Lara Arruabarrena ranked 76. Unfortunately she is drawn against the experienced Kirsten Flipkens ranked 58. They played on grass earlier this year when Kirsten won 6-4 5-7 6-3 in the Southsea final.
Certainly Katie showing promise , looks tough challenging opening round though.
Unfortunately Katie lost a close one 7-5 in the third.
She fought well and was not far off this one.
So close .................. what a shame!
Katie is into round 2 Tianjin beating Maria Sakkari (ranked 42 was 8th seed) 7-6 6-3.
