Re: Rate the last film you saw
I saw the Hobbit this evening (or, looking at the clock, yesterday evening). It seemed quite different from the book (although admittedly it's a long time since I read it so my memory could be wrong). At the start it seemed very slow but it got better and better as it went on, until it suddenly ended and we felt quite cheated as we wanted it to continue!
Re: Rate the last film you saw
They've strung it out far too much in my opinion.
Re: Rate the last film you saw
i watched the Marigold Hotel at our local film club the other week, great fun! Another one next week but don't what I am going to see until I get there. Must find out if there is a programme!
Re: Rate the last film you saw
I guess the difference is that the LOTR was written as 3 distinct books making it easier for the film maker to opt for 3 films. The Hobbit is the same length as only 1 of the LOTR books but has quite a lot of detail too about the histories. I can't really comment until I've seen it but I'm guessing that turning it into 1 film would have been possible, 2 at best and I can see that 3 might be stretching it out too much unless Jackson has dug into and included other background Tolkien work.
Re: Rate the last film you saw
Went to see Les Mis last night, loved it!!! :)
Re: Rate the last film you saw
The last film we saw was Jack Reacher. We love the books so were very interested to see what Tom Cruise was like in title role. He was ok but found myself distracted by observing who he looked taller than in various scenes. He will never be Jack Reacher for me. I think David Morse or Tim Robbins fit the bill more. We enjoyed the film. 7/10. Hopefully Les Mis on Wednesday!
Re: Rate the last film you saw
family decided to skip cinema on friday cos of snow so les mis will have to wait but saw the impossible a while ago, awesome film
Re: Rate the last film you saw
Just saw Les Miz. I've never seen this in the theatre so it was all new. Cried like a wee bairn at the end. So moving. And Hugh Jackman was AWESOME!!! Wish he'd win the Oscar but I know that dusty dull Daniel Day Lewis will win instead.
Re: Rate the last film you saw
Last films I've seen are Skyfall, The Hobbit and Quartet. All very good and all with tonnes of british talent.
Really should go and see les mis as a friend is in it but not sure I will or not.
Might go and see life of pi this week.
Re: Rate the last film you saw
Been trying to go and see The Impossible but cancelled on Friday due to the weather and cancelled today as I am full of the cold. Hopefully 3rd time lucky this week.
