Emma lost 6-4 5-7 4-6 although she had been a break up in 3rd.
Badosa is a former world #2 so I guess she's learned the hard way how to get out of trouble!
Hoped Emma might came through that one but it was a long match. Apparently Emma lost her last three service games , broke back at 3-5 but double faulted at the end. Still badosa can be tough even if ranking fallen.
Good win for Emma in Seoul. Into the Quarter Finals.
Good for Emma, well done!
Emma vs Kasatkina 3rd match tomorrow with first match starting at 6.00 am.
Seems like no play today due to rain. Rescheduled to 2nd match Saturday after first match at 4.00 am.
Hmm ...
... that's looking like playing 1/4 Finals on Sat and possibly Semi's too.
Or Semi then Final on Sunday. Not ideal.
I saw, on the BBC's breakfast news, Emma retired with a foot injury at the beginning of the second set after she lost the first set.
yes not great news, hopefully not too concerning for Emma.
Beeb says the injury was there in the previous round.

Yes, it was. She needed a MTO to have lots of tape applied to her foot although she did go on to win that match. Maybe she should have withdrawn before the Kasatkina match.
Emma has now withdrawn from Beijing.
She's sprained a ligament in her left foot and been advised not to play.
Emma has withdrawn from WTA HongKong citing the left foot injury which hasn't
healed enough to allow her to play.
This is the same foot that she had surgery on back in May 2023 (alongside surgery
on both wrists that same month) so I'm not sure if she'll ever get back up to speed!
Shame because she is only 22 and could, if uninjured, still make her way up the
rankings given time.
yes it is going to be challenging, Emma still seems to be injury prone.
Another tame defeat for Emma in the first round at Indian Wells.
Certainly disappointing ,according to reports Emma struggled with the conditions but likely not only factor.

All square between Raducanu and Navarro.
Emma took the first set 7'6, lost the second 2'6 and is a break down
in the 3rd having just held serve for 1-2
Does anybody else find the Sky Tennis onscreen scoreboard in the women's matches very difficult to read? It is transparent and the text is either white or pale green.
Emma down 2-3 in the third set. Navarro to serve.
Emma serving for the match at 5-3...
Broken...
TB to decide it.
And Emma R. wins the tb 7-3 and the match :yahoo:
That was one heck of a match - so glad she was able to fight back for the win.
Nearly 3hrs though ... needs to ensure she's fit for the next round.
She had to battle hard for that win including a MTO for a foot problem.
A great win for Emma in the end (gutsy by all accounts), lengthy battle though and the foot problem may be a concern moving forward. still should be a confidence boost.
Emma through to the last 16 , opponent Mccartney Kessler retired when trailing 6-1, 3-0. She will face the 17th seed Amanda Anismova who put out Andreeva 7-6,2-6,6-3.
Emma romped through the first set 6'1 against Anisimova, WR17.
The American has just had a medical time-out, not sure what for as I'm only following on flashscores.
Emma needs to stay focussed, was 40-0 on serve, now 40-30.
Emma now serving for the match, 5-3 up in the 2nd set.
Something with the wrist I think. She also had blisters on racket hand from last match. She hat the trainer on.
And there it is. Emma Raducanu into the last 8 in Miami with fine win over Anisimova.
6'1, 6'3.
:yahoo:
Looks like a great performance (even if Anisimova) had issue), well done Emma!:cheer:
In the Quarter-Final Emma will take on 4th seed Jessie Pegula, currently WR4.
They've met twice before and the H2H is 1-1.
In 2022 Pegula d Raducanu 7'5, 6'4 in Cincinatti, outdoor hard.
In 2024 Raducanu d Pegula in 3 sets at Eastbourne on grass.
WTA QF: Pegula d Raducanu by 6'4, 6'7(3), 6'2
Still a good run for Emma who will be back in the top 50 from Monday.
Apparently she had her blood pressure and pulse checked during the 2nd set after complaining of dizziness.
Think it was hot yesterday.
A pity that Emma could not quite sustain the challenge in the end but a good effort against Pegula, likely tough conditions. certainly a good run which should boost confidence.
She definitely looked as though she had little left in the tank in the third. Hopefully she can work on her fitness because her tennis is just great.
Emma has a new coach. Roig. h ttps://www.tennis365.com/tennis-features/who-is-emma-raducanu-new-coach-former-rafael-nadal-mentor-francisco-roig
I wonder who it will be next month? :D
