Did one of his celebratory jumps on breaking back but something seemed pop in his ankle
Must hold to take it to the TB
Struggling with the ankle on this serve 15-30
And then serves an ace ;)
Battles to take it to the TB and now working the crowd, I need a lie down
Tiebreak!
Andy serving at *5-4 in the tie-break for the 3rd set.
:nailbiter:
Humph!
Machac gets a break back, Andy *5-5 ...
C'mon Muzzah, hold this one!
Argh!!! Andy dropped both serves and now Machac will serve for the match at *6-5.
:grrr:
:crying::crying:
If prizes were given for courage, Andy would win every time. He has the heart of a lion. x
What a blow.
He had that in the bag
Oh dear. But Machac played really well. Andy was great too but level dropped towards the end.
You are right Clancy he does have the courage of a lion!
He fought so hard and had the match on his racquet at *5-4 in the tie-breaker.
Ankle injury maybe beginning to be an issue at that point???
Gutted but what a fight
Bit of a bitter blow but Andy almost pulled off an amazing win in the circumstances! However marvellous fortitude, pity that he was distracted earlier mind you. Still Machac was tough.
He’s pulled out of the doubles now too so that is that for him.
I read he’s looking forward to stopping playing and being at home with his family more.
What will we do without him?
Pulling out is possibly also to do with Korda still being in the singles and currently playing Hurkacz.
Nope, Andy has completely done in his ankle ligaments and will be out for "an extended period".
Yes just noticed that, a bitter blow!
Yep just seen this - looks really nasty. Amazed how he could play with that injury - just shows how determined he is
But he said he would be back with one hip and no ankle ligaments when the time is right.
:crying:
:crying:
I was surprised he was able to finish the match after that problem - I hope he did not make it worse by continuing to play.
