Norrie beats Draper, continuing the #2 beating the #1 trend.
Fearnley certainly gave Djokovic a bit to think about, pity for Jack but the best Norrie has played for a while.
Rain has stopped play on the outside courts.
Dimitrov has just beaten Monfils so the next match on
Court 1 will be Sonay Kartal v Coco Gauff.
Alcaraz has just won the 4th set to level the match against Tiafoe.
oop for Saturday - h ttps://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/scores/schedule/schedule13.html
Cameron vs Zverev - 1st on Centre 1.30 pm
Harriet vs Wang - 1st on Court 2 - 11 am
Andy/Emma vs Arevalo/Zhang - 4th on Court 1 - 6.30 pm approx
Tough for Alcaraz,Tiafoe certainly had shot but Carlos found a way and strong in decider.
Novak beats Rune easily but not satisfied with that, berates the crowd for their 'Ruuuuune' shouts, claiming they were booing him. Which is bound to endear him even less to the Centre Court crowd.
Plays De Minaur next and the CC are bound to be supporting the Aussie due to the Katie connection.
In a way I'd like Novak to win, as it might speed up his retirement then we will be done with his constant 'why does everyone take an instant dislike to me' (because it saves time)
Wet weather really messing up the schedule at Wimbledon today ...
All boys singles, junior doubles and womens' wheelchair events cancelled.
Yet to know about Mens and Ladies Doubles matches ...
The mixed doubles final has been moved from Thursday to Sunday. The Ladies doubles final is moved from Sunday to Saturday.
All matches cancelled for today. 10.30am start planned for Wednesday 10th July.
Pity Sinner is out losing a 5 set battle to Medvedev, seems he was not that well though. Wil face Alcaraz who recovered from a set and a break down to get the better of Tommy Paul in 4. First set was very long! Do not think De Minaur has a great chance against Djokovic (even with crowd on side) and would not be really be the toughest semi against Fritz or Musetti. Weather really was horrendous today!
Novak gets a w/o into the SF as De Minaur withdraws. Booo
Oh no, poor Alex. A 3-6 week recovery too.
Great pity for Alex though did wonder after the Fils match, another break for Djokovic!
It is shame about Centre Court losing their QF match and I understand it very disappointing for people paid ticket to see match but not get it. I am glad Wimbledon keep their Court 1 QF on Court 1 and not move it to Centre Court because that would be unfair. It no win situation anyway.
Please can someone just beat Djoko?
somehow do not think it will be Musetti ,though entertaining match with Fritz which he took 6-1 in the 5th.
Lucky enough to be on Court 1 yesterday and see that match. Musetti plays beautiful tennis. What a time Italy is having at Wimbledon singles this year, puts UK to shame
I wonder if the audience will be shouting Mooooooooosetti in Musetti's semi with Djokovic?
LOL I mentioned that to Dad yesterday if they going do Mooooooosetti today. Besides with Rune thing fans did that all his matches long before vs Nole anyway so it not Booooo like he thinks.
Musetti certainly has flair and good to watch, put Djokovic under more pressure in the 2nd but had to take the breaker, in the end straight sets for the Serb though some long games. Was not the best start from Alcaraz (first serves in only 48% in the 1st)but gradually gained control from Medvedev and was fairly convincing in the end, taking it 6-4 in the 4th. so not that surprising it is a repeat of last year's final.
Hewitt is trying for his first Wimbledon wheelchair singles title at the moment.
England vs Spain.
Hewitt won in 2 sets. England beat Spain
I think representing GB on this occasion. Anyway great performance from Alfie, exchanged a few breaks at the start but Hewitt son became fairly dominant against the player who pit out da in the semis. Great stuff , 1st Wimbledon singles title and 9th Slam:cheer::cheer:
Well done Hewitt! Hopefully his results is good luck for England beat Spain later today LOL.
Anyway I am glad he won.
Hewitt also now has the career grand slam having won each grand slam at least once during his career.
Fabulous win for Alfie! :GBflag::bravo:
Am hoping for a Spanish victory this afternoon though!
Some performance from Alcaraz to retain the title in straight sets 6-2,6-2,7-6(7-4) . Tightened up at 5-4 40-0 but still got the job done. Expected a closer match and Djokovic was below par initially (though breaking in 14 minute first game gave defending champion momentum),carlos though was sublime. :cheer::cheer:
Well done Carlos
So glad Carlos win and I didn’t expect him win that easily and in 3 sets. I was expecting at least 4 sets and tougher battle.
Well deserved Carlos.
Brilliant by Carlos
