Emma 'emotional' after winning first round in Korea
Oh look, another Emma retinal. I guess we were due one...
Getting to be a habit? x
As she was attended by a doctor before leaving the court it seems she was really unwell. She was one of many players retiring in the current tournaments being played in horrendous conditions of heat and humidity. Even Jannik Sinner had to retire!
As Holger Rune said, do you want someone to die on court ? If the heat and humidity makes someone feel so unwell, then should they (the player involved or players generally) be playing in such conditions ?
Shouldn't they be training so they play in extreme heat and humidity though.
Raducanu stopped for the season but is continuing with coach Roig next year. They are having a preseason training block at end of the year.

No surprise, what I read last night on the BBC's website, Emma and Roig had parted company. She's now looking for her tenth coach.
Maybe not surprising but still somewhat frustrating, think Emma should have given it a bit longer even with a disappointing start to season.
Was it a onesided thing or was it mutual?
It was something to do with her going out in the second round of the Aussie Open (allegedly).
I wonder if the rumour about Andy Murray becoming her new coach will start up again.
It is crackers as Emma has been coming back from injury with very little playing practice. Crazy if it was based on one match.
How may coaches will have to come and go before she realises that the coaches aren't the problem?
Emma is the top seed in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and plays her R1 match tomorrow.
Emma v Kaja Juvan. A strange match. Having lost the first 5 games, Emma won the next 11 and the match 7-5 6-1. Well done Emma! Plays a qualifier in the QF.
to be fair, Juvan played very well for the first few games but Emma didn't panic and Juvan's level dropped once Emma won a few games. After the first set there was only going to be one winner.
Emma cruised through today at least.
Emma plays Oleksandra Oliynykova ranked 91st in the semis so hopefully goes well there, Cristea favoured to go through in the other match.
Emma through 7'5, 3'6, 6'3 ... and next will almost certainly be Cirstea who is 6-0, 5'2 up against Snigur.
Emma thrashed in the final, 0-6 2-6 but she had a chest infection and was exhausted before she started.
Emma is at #25(CH10) in the live rankings after her run to the Final in Cluj.
Sonay is #50
Fran Jones #50
Katie #84
I find it interesting to see how Leylah Fernandez fares given she was the losing Finalist against Emma at that USO.
LF currently at #27 (CH13).
certainly a ranking boost for Emma and positive she reached the final, that really that was a rout though (whatever the circumstances).
Not much of a rest for Emma...
She will begin her WTA 1000 Doha campaign this afternoon at around 2pm UK Time she takes on Camila Osorio in the first round.
Emma took the first set 6'2 but Osorio is about to serve for the 2nd at *5-4 with a break.
Osorio duly takes the 2nd set and breaks Emma in the opening game of the 3rd.
After having blood pressure taken and trying to continue Emma has retired at 0-2 in 3rd set, obviously feeling unwell.
That's a shame. Onto next week then ...
:crying:
According to the Daily Mail, Emma's reunited with her former coach Mark Petchey. But, he'll won't be her new coach.
