yes it was a gripping match with Keys and Swiatek, all credit to Madison but think Sabalenka will retain crown.
oh well Djokovic retires after losing close 1st set to Zverev, apparently a muscle tear. (did not go down too well with elements of the crowd) . After a tough opener Sinner dominated proceedings to put out Shelton 7-6,6-2,6-2 and must be the favourite.
Congratulations Madison Keys on winning her first Grand Slam title aged 29, 8 years after being runner-up at the USO.
:trophy:
She defeated the favourite Aryna Sabalenka by 6'3, 2'6, 7'5 and took out Swiatek on the way.
A bit of am upset but certainly tremendous play from Madison to take the title, a close decider but was stronger in the end-well done!
Heliovaara/Patten won a marathon match beating an Italian pair to take their second Grand Slam title.
Congratulations to Heliovaara and Patten on winning the title.
Well done Patten and Heliovaara. What a gripping first set tiebreaker.
Well done Madison Keys on her first grand slam win after missing out on winning the US Open final in 2017.
Sinner strolls past an out of sorts Zverev in straights in the Men's Final.
Well done Sinner
Nole vs Alcaraz with Andy as coach was the best match of the championship imho.
Whilst not Zverev best performance Sinner put him under a lot of pressure, his speed and agility amazing! Djokovic's encounter with Alcaraz certainly was more entertaining though think would have better if spaniard had been in latter stages. Anyway looks like Novak may well be out of action for a little while.
