I saw my oncologist, on Tuesday. She told me, Monday's blood test had shown I'd got a low white blood cell count. Though tomorrow's bone injection will go ahead, she wants me to have another blood test.
My oncologist got it wrong, as the December blood test result had shown it was worse than a low white blood cell count. So, I had to have another blood test and then my bone injection just before Christmas.
I had my Zoladex injection on the 6th of this month. Yesterday, I had my first blood test for this year. But, nobody phoned me today with the result. I'll be booking next month's blood test tomorrow (I won't be affected by the nurses' strike) and go to the hospital on Friday for my bone injection.
I've now got an appointment to see the dentist on the 15th of next month.
I had a phoned call from a nurse at the hospital, yesterday, saying my oncologist didn't like the blood test result. The reason given was the same as the last one and I'm also a bit anaemic. The blood test was booked for next Tuesday at the hospital. I was told next Wednesday's scan must go ahead, though I still haven't received last November's scan result. Also, I've got to let my oncologist know what the dentist did after I've seen him/her. I was allowed to pick up my hormone tablets from Boots at the hospital. Before I left, my dad had another go at the wife of the next door couple. He called her and her husband names and creeps. I don't know if she or her husband have phoned the police.
A nurse from the hospital phoned me, yesterday, saying Tuesday's blood test result had shown my neutrals and white blood cell count were so borderline that my oncologist wanted me to have another blood test today. If she likes the result, the bone injection will go ahead afterwards. If she doesn't, I've got to have another blood test next week.
I had the blood test and then had to wait about four hours before being told, my bone injection would be going ahead.
I had a letter from my oncologist, today, saying last November's scan had shown the cancer is still stable.
You have a lot to contend with right now Stell, take care.
Thanks clancy. I saw the dentist, yesterday. She wants to see me again on the 8th of next month. I'll be supporting the nurses strike, next month. The nurses on the cancer ward, in my hospital, will also going on strike. On the 3rd, of this month, there were only two nurses looking after the seven of us in the one room and they were both exhausted.
I used to be a nurse in a chemotherapy unit. It was always very busy and we never got off on time. I enjoyed the work though and I worked in cancer care almost my whole career. 10 years was in chemo.
I’m pleased to hear your scan showed the cancer was stable Stell. I wish you well with your ongoing treatment, Take care.
