Not long to wait, as the draw will be made at 11.30am today.
We got France, away. It'll be played between 12th and 13th April 2024.
The finals to be played in Seville.
The venue will be announced soon. I won't be going as I'll be having a scan in April, amongst other things.
This was posted on another board previously:
RE: 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers - France vs GB - either on 12/13 or 13/14 April
Permalink
The FFT announced a couple of weeks ago that the tie will be played at "The Cauldron" in Le Portel on 12/13 April. Unsurprisingly the choice of surface is indoor clay. It has a capacity of 3,400.
(Le Portel is in Boulogne, so very accessible from the UK).
They must be two weeks behind, as when I googled it, there was no venue.
Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart and Heather Watson have been named for our team. Are the BBC showing it somewhere, either on the TV/Red Button or their website?
I've just done a live chat with Peter from the BBC. He's told me, they'll be showing it from 1.30pm (13.30pm) on the Red Button and Red Button HD next Friday.
Thank you Stell for helpful information.
not a good start for GB, Boulter losing heavily against Diane Parry. Up to Raducanu now v Garcia.
Emma serving for the match at *5-2 in the 3rd set.
Emma wins! Reckon we'll need to win both singles tomorrow though. I'm guessing Katie can't be replaced...
Certainly did not go well for Katie, great win for Emma to level it though!
Apparently Katie can be replaced. No idea what Anne K will do!
Katie romped home 7'5, 6'0 to d Clara Burel (rather than Caroline Garcia).
Which puts GBR 2-1 up so far in the tie.
IF IF IF Emma Raducanu can beat Diane Parry, to win the tie, then the doubles won't be played.
Parry took the first set 6'4. Emma got an immediate break and held for 2-0 in the 2nd set.
Now serving at 2-1 after Parry got a hold.
Emma took the 2nd set 6-1. Battle for the 3rd set going with serve, Parry *1-2.
E had 2 match points but D broke now E serving 5-5
She held for 6-5!
Glad the forum is back!
Emma failed to take her MPs when serving for it at 5'3.
Parry has fought back to level at 5-5 but Emma has just done well to hold for 6'5.
So, we're probably into a tie-break to decide it IF Parry now holds.
Wahey!!! Emma did it in the tie-break. GBR d France 3-1, bit of a first on clay methinks.
:GBflag:
Stunning!! :GBflag::bravo:
Wow! What a day for both Katie and Emma!
Anyone heard if Garcia being held back for the doubles was tactical or due to a fitness issue?
I heard, yesterday, Garcia was having problems with her shoulder. So delighted that we got revenge over the French.
A great result in the end, well done Emma (in particular) and Katie!
Ref Garcia: all I can find are 1 or 2 comments that her shoulder looked to be giving
her a problem towards the end of her match against Emma.
Also, after her SF loss in Indian Wells, Garcia posted on Twitter that she was going
to "rest to help my shoulder" and then train for the clay season.
So, Julien was perhaps banking on his ladies today notching up 1 win to make it 2-2
and then having a good doubles pairing in reserve who, on paper, would have the
upper hand against our likely doubles pairing of Dart/Watson.
But nothing in Fed Cup or Davis Cup is certain "on paper".
;)
Team GB will face Germany in the first knockout round in Seville in November. The winners will face Canada.
Thanks Hawkeye

Venue changed from Seville to Malaga.
Malaga today - Emma and Katie both win in straight sets. Canada next on Sunday.
According to the LTA's website, we've played Canada twice (once in 1963 and then in 1984) and have beaten them both times. So, there might be hope for us.

GB vs Canada starts around 4.00 pm today.
GBR take the first rubber against Canada 6'0, 7'5.
Marino fought back in the 2nd set, from that bagel dished out by Raducanu, but Emma stayed strong
and broke at a crucial moment to gain advantage and serve out the 12th game for the win.
Katie Boulter v. Leylah Fernandez starting now.
Katie took the first set 6'2.
She was 4'1 up and serving in the second set, then 5'2 but then
Leylah broke and she's now serving at 3'5 - and has held for 4'5.
Katie has another chance to serve for the match at *5-4.
Yay!!!
Katie Boulter nails the win for GBR putting us 2-0 up over Canada.
:yahoo:
Brilliant!!
certainly encouraging,well done!
Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning. GB will be playing lower ranked players. They are playing at 11.00 am Tuesday morning.

Raducanu with an early break over Hruncakova ... and eventually holds serve to go 2-0 up.
Showing live now on BBC iPlayer. Or follow on Flashscore tennis which is slightly ahead.
:hmm:
Raducanu went 4-1 up but Hruncakova got a break back and is now serving at *3-5.
