Norrie lost to Medvedev.
Draper up in the first set against Darderi.
Sonay Kartal lost.
Raducanu has just beaten LL Jill Teichmann 6'2, 6'2, after Rad's original opponent, Alexandrova, withdrew.
It takes Emma into R3 in Rome for the first time and puts her at 45 in the live rankings.
Next up for Emma is Kudermetova.
Jack Draper through to R3, beats Darderi 6'1, 6'4
Closer in the 2nd but Jack looked pretty strong, well done! Not too surprising with Cameron, more comfortable for Emma today though not expected opponent.
Fearnley playing Berrettini on Compo Centrale 10am UK. 5am my time. Not sure I'll get up early but will try and watch replay before I see result.
It's taken me a while to get back into watching tennis without Andy but have been watching the Brits. Glad to see Jack doing well.
Berretini takes the first set 6'4 over Jake Fearnley.
Humph! Jake was 4-1 up in the 2nd set, served for it at 5-4 but somehow
Berretini clawed his way back in and took the match 6'4, 7'6(0).
Thought it might go a 3rd but not to be and Jake outplayed in the breaker, still good effort though.
Emma lost a close first set 7-5, but leads 5-0 in the second set.
Emma through to R4 after coming back to win 5'7, 6'0, 6'1.
Next up is Coco Gauff who is fine form at the moment.
Jack takes the first set 6-4 against the qualifier Kopriva.
Good win for Jack 6'4, 6'3 over Kopriva.
Next for him is Moutet who took 3hrs 44mins to knock out Holger Rune.
Great for Jack though not everything went his way,a bit of break with Rune out and a long match for Moutet though cannot take it for granted. A good comeback for Emma earlier though much tougher against Gauff.
BRITS in doubles action today:-
SALISBURY/SKUPSKI d Lammnos/Withrow 6'2, 7'5
JOHNSON/Arends d Matos/Melo 6'2, 6'3
Arevalo/Pavis d CASH/Miedler 6'1, 6'4
Jamie Murray and Rajeev Ram are now scheduled to play Erler/Frantzen (Fils/Fokina withdrew)
around 13.05 UK time
Coco Gauff d Emma Raducanu 6'1, 6'2
ALT Andreozzi/Arribage d Jamie Murray and Rajeev Ram 1'6, 6'4, 10'5.
Erler/Frantzen withdrew!
A few disappoining result, thought Jamie/Rajeev would have taken advantage at the change. knew Gauff would be tough for Emma but hoped it would be a bit more competitive.
Jack loses the first set 6-1 to Corentin Moutet.
1 set all, 1-6 6-4.
Bet Moutet thought he had it in the bag after the first set
Jack gets the win in three sets - well done :yahoo:
A bit worrying initially but Jack turned on the style, a great comeback-well done!:cheer::cheer:
in the quarters he will face Alcaraz who got the better of Khachanov in a tight one- 6-3,3-6,7-5.
Alcaraz won 6-4 6-4.
Jack had his chances,4-2 up in the 1st and break points to lead 5-3 in the 2nd. Alcaraz stepped up and was better on the key points mind you. More of a challenge for Draper on the clay but should build on his performances this season.
Sinner routed Ruud yesterday 6-0,6-1 to face Paul in the semis this evening,Alcaraz meets Musetti this afternoon.
As expected it is a Sinner/Alcaraz final on Sunday, Jannik thougfh had to come from behind to see off Tommy paul 1-6,6-0,6-3. Carlos ended Lorenzo's hopes 6,3,7-6.
unfortunately both Skupski/Salisbury and Heliovaara/Patten lost in straights in the semis earlier. Skupski/Salisbury faced the top seeds Arevalo/Pavic though going down 7-6,6-1.
Alcaraz takes the Rome title over Sinner, 7'6(5), 6'1.
:trophy:
Paolini did the WTA winning the Singles over Gauff and,
partnering fellow Italian Sarah Errani, also won the Doubles.
Sinner had two points at 6-5 in the first set but Alcaraz dominated after he took a closer breaker, well done! Jannik was not able to maintain the level but his first tournament after the three months ban. French should be interesting.
A good tournament for Paolini, looked like fairly comfortable 6-4,6-2 win over Gauff.
