Olympics - London 2012 - Olympic Torch Relay (Andy on 23rd July)

Torchcam is now in a helicopter showing the Olympic flame going along Oxford Street in an open top bus! The streets are absolutely mobbed! People must be soooooooooo hot down there.

It was lovely to see the TST form a guard of honour for the last torchbearer of the night. I have got used to seeing them everyday so will miss them on the torchcam especially my fave member.

Credit to them all, they have done a fantastic job!

July 27th: Hampton Court to the Tower of London
... and on to the Olympic Stadium to end it's journey in London.








Day 7 in London will see the Olympic flame complete it's journey around Great Britain.

It'll be borne on Gloriana down the River Thames from Hampton Court Palace to the City of London.

Instead of torch bearers there will be a cauldron alight on the boat so it can be seen easily.
Just 7 torch bearers will be involved in riverside journeys along the route.
It's expected to arrive at Tower Pier around 13.00hrs and will then be taken to City Hall for a 'rest' until the climax of the opening ceremony.

It's been an incredible journey - and there's an incredible evening ahead!.

I heard my local church bells ringing this morning!
Will miss a lot of the live coverage as I've a meeting to go to right now.
But that golden barge going up the Thames with a lit cauldron on the front is one heck of a sight!!!

I think it's been a brilliant lead in to the 'serious' stuff of the 16 days of sports to come!

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. Have really enjoyed it and watching the torch go through the UK. Makes me feel a little closer to home.
Now, looking forward to the games.
