Court hearing still on going - journalists twitter comments below:

Stu Fraser: Almost 11pm on a Friday night in Melbourne and the directions hearing is still ongoing. Judge Kelly getting cranky...

Jonathan Overend: Judge sounds massively annoyed now. Can't blame him.

Sasa Ozmo: Case has been moved to the Federal Court of Australia, Judge Kelly said.

    Paul McNamee on twitter

Central argument for Minister appears to be that by him remaining, there is potential of inciting anti-vax sentiment, which is not in the public interest.

Maybe not relevant, but Djokovic did set up player vaccination hubs at two tournaments, so they could be double vaccinated

Interestingly, the journalist Sasa Osmo has been saying through all this mess that although Nole did not get vaccinated, once vaccinations started he kept quiet about his vaccine status and was not giving out antivax views information etc. It was the antivax people who are using Djokovic name and pictures etc. Not sure where an article relating to this is.

We still don't know how this unedifying debacle is going to be resolved but what's baffling me most is this: let's say Novak is allowed to play and by some miracle manages to put this mess out of his mind and win the tournament, how on earth can he want to win his 21st slam and all that the win would mean in these circumstances. His huge moment of glory booed by at least half the arena. I just do not get it. It's not like he wouldn't have a great chance to get the all important 21st at other slams. Madness.

Eleanor's quote maybe says it all.

"Djokovic will be back in detention tomorrow morning and overnight Saturday.
Seems extraordinary that Hawke made his decision based on Djokovic's potential
to excite anti-vax sentiment and not the validity of the exemption or anything around that."

Is this the loophole? I fear he will get away with this again but hope I'm wrong. Hopefully I just have a suspicious mind.

That might depend on whether the other 3 Slams insist on everyone being vaccinated.
I know RollyG have said there could be exemptions but that's in the face of Macron
announcing a zero tolerance approach to unvaccinated folks in France.
Can't have it both ways ... and that's really the nub of the problem in OZ.

I still have an uneasy feeling that somehow Djoko will wriggle out of this......

I don’t think he would care, his instincts in the past have given him wins, whilst he lost fans. IMHO

Apparently plans are in place for Nole to defend his title via Zoom.

    From @sventennis on twitter April 24th 2021

I want to thank @SerbiaOpen2021@atptour#DenisZivkovic@DjokerNole#djordjedjokovic and especially people of #Belgrade#Serbia for offering us the opportunity to take our vaccine! Today I got my first part of the #Pfizer vaccine.
