Chain Word Game

Seems like years since we've had a new game on here, so I'm going to pluck up courage and give it a go!

This one I'm calling Chain Word, as it's similar to a game of that name I've seen before. It's a bit like the four-letter word game, but with a bit more scope.

Each word must be four letters or more, and each round you can do one of the following to the previous word:

1. change a single letter eg site to bite, game to gate, hate to hats etc

2. add a single letter in any position eg wine to twine, grad to grand, come to comet

3. remove a single letter eg craze to raze, flare to fare, charm to char

4. rearrange the letters to form an anagram eg mane to name, posed to dopes, rare to rear

Ideally each person should say what they've done, so it's easier to follow eg "added h", "anagram" etc but that's not essential - once we're used to the game (if it catches on!) I'm sure we'll all see what the previous person has done.

If you spot a mistake by the previous player, rather than follow that word you can choose to point out the error then "play a joker" and propose a new word of your own, but all starting words must be four letters.

If you feel the game has got "stuck" eg it ends up with a longish word that no-one seems to be able to do anything with, you may suggest that the game should be restarted, and assuming the next person is also unable to come up with a correct following word, then they can restart the game with a new 4-letter word of their choosing.
