"The first public glimpse of the shock coaching partnership between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will come on Monday at Melbourne Park in preparation for the Australian Open starting on January 12. A family skiing trip, which had been booked long before Djokovic made his approach over the phone in November, meant that Murray was unable to attend this week’s Brisbane International — where Djokovic suffered a disappointing quarter-final defeat by America’s Reilly Opelka on Friday — but he is due to depart for Australia on Sunday evening.

Observing these two former rivals working together at the Australian Open will be fascinating. A ten-day training block was held behind closed doors last month at Djokovic’s residence near Marbella, Spain, during which the secrets of his success were shared with Murray for the first time.

“The ten days that we spent together were terrific,” Djokovic said. “I enjoyed every bit of it. He’s very meticulous, he’s very dedicated, so professional. It doesn’t surprise me because I’ve known him so many years as a player.”

Despite his retirement, Murray is going to be one of the most visible tennis faces in Australia this month. As well as being seen in the front row of Djokovic’s coaching box, he is the star of an Uber Eats advert which will run throughout the Australian Open’s national television coverage."
