Re: Things that really annoy us
But the lane isn't closed until the very front so why not use it. I seem to remember reading years ago that using both lanes and merging in turn is the most efficient way at roadworks but unfortunately in this country everyone seems to dive for the inside lane with about 3 miles to go.

Re: Things that really annoy us
It wasn't a closed lane or road. It's a slip road. I was on the boulevard and pulled off onto the slip road to join the expressway. Because of a roundabout at the top and roadworks futher down the expressway, the slip road ends up full of queueing traffic trying to get on the expressway. What these people do is drive down the boulevard cut across the hatch markings That mark the end of where you can pull of to join the slip road, push in the front of the queue. Regardless as to whether there is space, which generally there is not. Then trying to join they park in a live lane and create a traffic jam in one lane of the boulevard. This results in Lorries and traffic moving into the middle lane going slow and creates massive jams in every direction. I've been stuck in it when it's backed up towards town because two lanes end up still, stuck on the slip road while people try to push in, and when not pulling off on to the slip road but carrying on, stuck behind traffic that is in the middle and the right because the left has become unusable. It creates more traffic into town, down to the 56 and up to the 62 and 57 then creates gridlock.
