    Hello strangers!

How is everyone doing? I miss this forum. When Andy signed up with the shortbread company recently it brought back memories of his gran passing round tins of her home made shortbread at Davis Cup ties. Happy days! Keep well everyone. xx

    Re: Hello strangers!

Thank you James for responding.I have been feeling my age since I got in the 80s but I still follow tennis avidly although can't get my tongue round most of the names! I did get to Manchester with my son and grandson last September for live tennis which I did enjoy although not the same without Andy. (My grandson plays a lot of padel). I'm happy Andy is enjoying his retirement although I can't share his passion for golf. Best wishes to everyone on here especially those who sorted out our technical problems - and there were many! I often think of Theresa who shared my lack of enthusiasm for Roger; whilst admiring his game, it was the 19 jacket that finished me. My love of tennis stems from my PE teacher at High School, Miss Pennycuick (lived to over 100) who fostered my interest in playing and subsequently watching tennis. Hope you all continue to do so. xx

oh right, you do need to relax a bit more I guess. yes I mind you mentioning going to Manchester previously, as long as you had a good time if not quite the same buzz. I was in hospital late last year with a twisted bowel but was resolved without the need for an operation, seem to be fine now. I am still very much a tennis fan but have not been to live tennis for a little while. I do not cope so well with the heat nowadays and so would just rather watch the grass court tennis on TV (I attended Wimbledon a number of times but feel it not for me anymore as a spectator). whilst i did play tennis a bit when I was younger my standard was fairly low, got more enjoyment from watching

    Re: Hello strangers!

I'm still around, though I've now had breast cancer for five years. I go, once a month, to a support group. I still watch any tennis that the BBC shows, though I did go to watch the Wimbledon qualifying rounds and some of the Wimbledon rounds last year. Our mum passed away from pancreatic cancer in January. It was thought, at the time, she'd got gallstones. Our dad passed away in a care home from Alzheimers and frailty in May. My niece will begin her A level course at the college, next month.

    Re: Hello strangers!

I am still about. I try to pop in from time to time. Don’t really watch much tennis now. It’s not the same without Andy. Never thought I would miss Nadal and Federer.

The courts are well used in the local park. Watched a young lad playing on roller skates the other day. Not sure that will catch on…….

Sorry to hear about your parents Stell. Good to touch base with James and Clancy.

Very much occupied with my new dog. I lost the old one on the day of the Kings coronation. Fizzy a Norfolk Terrier/Jack Russell Cross arrived in November 2023. It’s been a bit of a shock - a hyperactive youngster after an elderly disabled dog. DSC07324.jpg

    Re: Hello strangers!

Ah, good to hear from you, Stell. I am glad you are doing ok; sorry about your mum and dad, a sad year for you. I have lost so many dear friends this year and one of my dogs too and illnesses in my US relatives that I have always been close to. One is battling pancreatic cancer right now, been having treatment and awaiting a large surgery later this month. Guess we have to count our blessings. Murraynators is still quite active but I miss the banter on here. Several of them are going to Poland shortly and it reminded me of my DC trips in the past through this group, how well SallyDaisy looked after us.Take care of yourself, and everyone else who still logs in occasionally. xx
