Re: US Open 14th August - 7th September 2025 - Main thread - SUNDAY start

Ostapenko accuses Townsend of having no class or education because she didn't apologise for a net cord that won her the match.
One point doesn't decide the match, even if it's match point.
Maybe Townsend forgot tin the heat of the victory, but once accused, she's not going to back-track.
    Only at the US Open....

Really gutting for Jack but no other option, needs to take time with recovery. Certainly it was a good win for Cameron and some drama, tighter than need be though. Djokovic next.

Seems to be typical Ostapenko , the 2nd set was decisive anyway even if the etiquette was not observed.

After two very comfortable wins it will be Rybakina the 9th seed next for Emma.

Much as expected for Jacob really, did have a later charge with a few incredible shots in the 3rd when he came back from 1-5 to 4-5 but left it a bit late. Tsitsipas out 7-5 in the 5th to Altmaier whilst Sinner cruised losing only 7 games to Popyrin. was not the best from Swiatek but after easy first set but got through 6-4 in the 3rd over Lamens.

unfortunately Emma was never really in the match against Rybakina, lost serve early in both sets going down 6-1,6-2. Elena was dominant in a powerful display and constantly put Raducanu under pressure but still disappointing Emma could not offer more resistance. oh well, some progress made this year obviously but more improvements needed.

Cam lost to Nole in 4 sets, so that's the singles done. Plenty of doubles interest though.

A good effort from Cameron certainly for the first half of the match, Djokovic though seemed to take control once he broke back early in the 3rd when Norrie had some momentum after taking the 2nd set Breaker. Norrie though could soon be back in the top 30.

Biggest upset thus far as Auger- Aliassime gets the better of zverev 4-6,7-6,6-4,6-4. A big win for Felix but Sacha has not excelled in recent slams. Coco Gauff was also very much outplayed by Naomi Osaka 6-3,6-2 in the last 16.

sadly Salisbury/Skupski lose ther final to Granollers/Zeballos 3-6,7-6,7-5. Had 3 consecutive championship points at 5-4 in the 3rd on oppenents serve but could not capitalise. Still another good run!
