Magnificent Murray does it again

What a stunning shot to finish that match; Andy Murray at his finest.
Once he made his mind up to play properly Cilic had absolutely no chance and his game went walkabout rapidly during the 3rd set and completely in the 4th. That was an incredible set of tennis from Andy in the 4th - totally dominant, on top of his game and on top of his opponent.
Into the Semi-Final to play either Federer or Berdych.
Mouthwatering!

I'll take my aching neck and shoulders to bed now!
Great fight back Andy................Well done!!!!

Wow, what a match. From 1-5 down he was back to his Andy self and was just fantastic. Needs to practise his serve as we want more aces. Now Annabel is chatting. Ugh
I know you are talking about me but I, as an Andy fan, am engrossed in this match. 5-0 Go Andy!!!!!
Just glad to know you're with us SG - it's not the same without you!

Never doubted he would win but I did begin to wonder when he would wake up and start playing properly!!
Still a good win Andy after a very slow start. Early night too so should recover well
G'night all thanks for the company.

:sleepy:Time for bed methinks brushed my teeth and into my jammies ages ago
Btw 7 out the last 8 slam semi finals and losing count of total semi appearences none to shabby
How good is our Andy???:clap::clap: As tough as granite. Even at 5-1 down he knew and we knew he was still going to win, brilliant. :swingin::swingin:
What a disgraceful interview with Anabelle Lecter? :grrr: Andy gives credit to the way Cilic started the match and she has to ask why he played so badly and then further on asks why he puts his "box" through such pain. Burn that witch!
I just might have to pour myself a wee malt by way of celebration - I'm too pumped up to head to bed yet!
well done Andy !!!!! great comeback after that questionable start !!!

Portuguese commies just pointed out, to mark Andy Roddick's retirement that only two people have every won USO Junior and Senior.....
Edberg and ... Andy Roddick.
Time for the third!
Yes five hour five setter between Federer and Berdych please.
Would prefer Federer though as I always fear Birdy.
Well done Andy... in the end. Please please please start like that next time!

Can someone help me here? I have a memory of Andy coming back from 1-5 down in a tournament....think it was in America but can't recall year. Does anyone remember this or did I dream it.
Great from Andy from a set & 5/1 down, will take me ages to sleep after that. Tremendous.

Terrific fightback tonight even if ideally Andy didn't want to be in that position. Certainly some awesome tennis in the last 2 sets, so proud of Murray, well done! :cheer::cheer::cheer: Goes without saying he needs to be on form from the start in the semi.
I remember a 1-5 comeback on clay against an Italian, Bolleli or Fognini 3 or 4 years ago.

It was a few years ago but those names don't ring a bell...even though I know the players. As I said can't really remember much except thinking how fantastic was Andy.
Certainly not what I expected to wake up to after watching the first set and first game of the second - what a comeback.
But he will need to bring out his A game against Berdych.
So pleased to read that he rightly gave Berdych some respect but ... Aside from their H2H I think this is an incredible chance.
This has been a year of significant firsts for him.
First final at Wimbledon, first set in a Slam final, Olympic gold and first Best of Five win in a major final... He has to hold on to that and believe he can best Berdych.
He has to treat that match as if it was his final (as so many of semis can actually feel like).
One match at a time Andy ... One match at a time.

Now for the next one!

Hehehe I know the feeling!!!
Lots of matches remind me of the Starace game at the French a while ago, this did again.
The court is clearly so much faster, you have to be really ON IT. You wonder what the practice courts are like in comparison?
Cilic played really beautifully, hitting it at will wherever he wanted. But he really buckled, once Murray had played himself in, albeit 5-1 down in the fifth, once he had that first break, I felt he was right in this match.
Delighted with how he finished it, thats a strong message to me that he is ready to win this, he was absolutely ruthless after
at one set all.
I'll be honest though, at times in that second set, I didn't think he was going to get through. It was 2009 all over again.
wow! just logged on, last night i was dog tired, radio 5 , and a set and a break down, and playing badly, tho mats wilander keeping the faith, but I reconciled myself that he would lose in four, switched off radio and slept! what joy in the morning!
Like Harriet, I'd gone to bed unconvinced that Andy WOULD win, even though I knew he COULD. So very, very pleased to see the result when I got up this morning! Well done Andy.
Noe I'm off to read the thread to see what I missed!

Da jue vue, I also went to bed at 5-1 in the second set,and set Sky+ so I could watch the match this morning without knowing the score , I must admit I was cross with Andy with the way he was conducting himself and the way he was playing, I had a sort of nightmare during the night I am sure it was because I thought Andy was going to lose, anyway went downstairs about 8ish and couldn't believe the come back I had butterflies in my stomach throughout the tie- break, but then at 1 game all in the 3rd set my Sky+ went into back up mode so still didn't know the result, as we are out to Lunch I had to finally look up the result , only to see Fed got beaten as well, Andy is doing nothing for my sleepless nights.

Early start for me this morning but couldn't settle down to sleep until Andy won that second set tiebreaker. Then I just knew that he would go on to win the match, that comeback from 1-5 down was just incredible! Soo happy and it just wouldn't be the Andy we all know and love without the :coaster: would it?

ATP have confirmed that Andy qualified for the O2 finals with that win!
PS Roger's presser after the match is not exactly his finest hour! Just, just, just maybe, his opponent occasionally might have had the tiniest bit to say about the result of the match.
(And I am not a Fed knocker normally, but ....)

You lot need to have bit of faith in our Andy! #alwaysbelieve
Funnily enough, even at a set and 5-1 down I still believed he would find a way to win and I said so on twitter! I was watching on TV and my phone battery died so wasn't on here for the last couple of sets.
Looking forward to the next match now - have a feeling Andy can do this folks .....
feeling a tad tired now after only 4and a half hours sleep. But definately worth it!

Had to go to work, but fortunately saw Andy make his comeback and take the second set to a tiebreaker before I went. I was so torn earlier - I knew he could come back from 1-5, but would he?
Congratulations, Andy, you've defended your result last year by getting to the semis - you can only gain from now on! Come on!
Never in doubt.
Watched the first 2 sets then set it to record and went to bed. Got up early to watch the rest - what a treat! Andy you are AMAZING but my heart can't stand much more! So busy in work I didn't even know till lunchtime that Fed was out. Not sure how I feel about that but I guess Fed or Berdy was Hobson's choice.

I stayed down and watched Fed's match. I think I wanted Andy to play Fed in the semi and beat him. but on reflection you never know. So will keep my fingers crossed that "good Andy" turns up and he reaches the final.
For all sorts of reasons I would have rather Andy had Fed in the semis but he can't choose his opponent so he'll just have to get on with. About time he redressed the Head to Head against Berdy anyway. I just hope it isn't really hot and humid.
That was some comeback. So proud of Andy to be able to do it. It must be so hard to play after so much focus spent on Raonic's match. Now 2 days off regroup and do it again. It was bad, good, bad, good, bad and now it's turn for a good match, I hope. I too wish he was playing Roger, Berdych is a tricky customer. good luck Andy for Saturday.
Just watched smugFed squirming in his presser, called andy 'Murray', which I didn't like, like he was his dog.
Thats typical of him Helen , hes po'd that Berdych beat him and anyway He only calls him Andy when he beats him, any other time , its Murray.

Be careful what you wish for.......if Andy does get through, that would mean the final was going to be a "bad"

As long as the 'winning ugly' pattern holds up as well, I wouldn't mind. lol
