2 points for each correct prediction in the round of 32
4 points for each correct prediction in the round of 16

Oh dear - I completely rushed my entry - maybe I should look more closely at the early rounds?

Oh dear - I completely rushed my entry - maybe I should look more closely at the early rounds?
You can edit it can't you?
Yes, I think I will go and edit it now
ETA: Checked the H2H for a lot of the R1 matches and only made 1 change (Paire instead of Kubot).
You might want to have another look Linda as qualifiers have now been placed.

Birdbrain Andy final hmm am I the one with the bird brain :laugh::laugh:
Was that rhetorical? Or can i answer?
You might want to have another look Linda as qualifiers have now been placed.
Just checked in my lunchhour! Only made one more change - Gulbis instead of Feli - but why I bothered I don't know as they are a pair of muppets.

Some of those picks were tough! There's some I'll probably regret on day 1.
:hmm:
Birdbrain Andy final hmm am I the one with the bird brain :laugh::laugh:
I decided to have Dammit beat Birdbrain as Gasquet is 4-2 up on head to heads. Yet very few chose Dammit.

Nah, I picked them too!

And now it's too late to change anything 'cos the bracket is closed and I/Wells is underway!
First match finished. Did we all pick Tomic?

Well done Sally :cheer:
How can Pabbers have 2 points in IW but none in the year to date?
And now Sally is 5/5
All of mine currently on live scores are losing - Nalbandian, Anderson and Malisee.

All of mine currently on live scores are losing - Nalbandian, Anderson and Malisee.
I'm cheering on X-man, DavyBaby and Anderson who is now into a tie-break for the first set.
Ah, it's OK Cazza - Sally has the same picks as us so they're sure to win :big grin: They've all managed to draw level so far, anyway.
Sallydaisy
07-03-2013, 23:14
L.Mayer beat Malisse 6'2, 3'6, 6'4.
Nalby is ahead 6'4, 3'1*
Anderson also ahead 7'6, 5'2
Brands is an early break up on Baggy who is serving in the first set at *0-2.
Melzer has just broken Zverev and is serving next at *4-3 in the first set.
Sallydaisy
07-03-2013, 23:29
Thank you David Nalbandian.
.
Brands just bagelled Baggydad in the first set ...
Melzer took the 1st set 6'4.
Now GUB is in the lead with 11  Sally and a bunch of others on 10.

Let's hope not ... but sometime later today I'll replace the linked names with normal type.
After all, it's not unreasonable that we might want to have a 'table' to record our members progress.

Oooh, I thought today so far might be terrible but I've edged into our group lead on 25.
But that's only5 out of 9: Janowicz, Nieminen, Simon, Federer and Wawrinka.
Wrong were Kohlschreiber, Isner, Youzhny and Ferrer!!!
That last one is the biggest shock.
Ace, Cazza, Genbrit and Pabbers on 24.
Well Done SD. Yep, I had Ferrer getting to the final, oops what was I thinking!!!!!:facepalm::laugh:
I had Ferrer getting to the semis.
Sally, Ace & Genbrit lead our group on 41. Well done all of you!

WOW how did that happen :rolling::rolling:
tonight I'm looking for wins from Djokovic, Querrey, Raonic, Tsonga, Murray, Haas, & Del Potro
1 dead match Nishikori v Berlocq
I have the seven you have GUB plus Nishikori so looking for a full house tonight - though really I wouldn't object to quite a few of them losing particularly Del Potro and Djokovic which would ease the path of a certain Mr Murray.
Of the matches now on court, I need Querrey and Almagro to win!
Sallydaisy
12-03-2013, 22:27
I need Querrey and Haas ...
Both matches into a 3rd set.
Querrey - 7'6, 6'7, 4'4 - Matosevic, to serve next after Sam just held.
Haas - 6'3, 6'7, 3'2 - Almagro, about to serve after Tommy held to edge ahead in the 3rd but on serve.
Querry wins. :) Almagro has a break! Vamos!
Sallydaisy
12-03-2013, 23:07
Tommy Haas!!!
:jitterbug:
Great win for him against Almagro 6'3, 6'7, 7'6.
Now I just need him to trash the winner of Del Potro v Phau 'cos that's a dead match for me.
(erm, yeah, I had Chardy v Davydenko instead ... :getcoat: ...)
Sallydaisy
13-03-2013, 10:13
After all the R3 matches have been played it's GUB back in the lead on 68!!!
Cazza 2nd on 66 and in tied 3rd are Linda and Sallydaisy (who says Hi to Yorkie)
Here's how the rest of us are faring:-
62: Elenive, James4578
61: Ace, Genbrit, Steven
60: Lizzim, Yorkie, Zagorian
57: GoldenLady, Swissgirl
56: Eblunt
52: DaveArneRiise, Hfwardhouse, Pabbers
50: Arabest, Vixs
This looks fun ...... never done this before so might have a go for Miami. I can only apologise in advance team :getcoat:
EDIT: BTW, whatever happened to pick 'ems?? This looks similar though but not for GSs only masters, is that right?
Sallydaisy
13-03-2013, 11:34
Steven had a very busy time work wise and struggled to do Pick'ems as often as previously.
Now he is concentrating on the Grand Slams only for Pick'em. The ATP only runs the Bracket Challenge for Masters but not Slams so we're covered one way or another!
We'd be glad to see you on the team Caro - believe me, fortunes can change just as quickly as on the Pick'ems!!! And you can banter on the mini message board for our team too!
;)
The gap is down to 3 points thanks to Del Potro yesterday. Del Potro to beat Haas and Simon to lose and order will be restored in my personal battle.
I have Djoko, Tsonga, Andy, Del P, Berdych, Nadal and Federer with a dead match of Simon v Anderson as I went for Ferrer
I'm one of the few to pick Gasquet to beat Berdych - well he is upon head to heads :sofa:
greatunclebulgaria
13-03-2013, 17:44
tonight we are backing
Djokovic, Tsonga, Murray, Del Potro, Berdych, Nadal & Federer all fairly safe picks in theory but we shall see
1 dead match Ferrer  :grrr:

NEW POINTS SYSTEM FOR 2013
I'm not sure if everyone is aware that the ATP amended the scoring for the Bracket Challenge 2013.
It's now closer to the points given for the Pick'em.
Here's the information below (courtesy Steven @GBtennis)
ATP new: 1-1-2-4-6-9-12
ATP old: 1-1-2-4-8-16-32
BOTB: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7

Well Monsieur Simon obliged ... I really need Haas to beat Del Potro but can't see it happening!
And the other requirement came to pass so order is restored for now
However as Sally has Raffa to my pick of FedEx and Berdy to my dead pick of Ferrer there is scope for it to go back in a big way tonight if they both go your way
By the way GUB with her 5 point lead is standing clear at the top of our league

Well I guess Djok and Muzz are pretty standard for almost all, but Rafa and Berdy are two big swing games, though with Berdy you are already "pre damage limited" as Pics went out. Mine are as yours except Fed for Rafa; with the right results I could ease back into the top half.
Looking at your picks, you've got a real potential to win overall IF the results go your way .... 30 points worth of picks where your pick is 22% or less, and in fact those picks are not at all insane looking now, i.e Raf wins QF but wrecks his knees doing it, puts Berdy into the final and Muzz beats Djok in other semi ... not at all far fetched really.

Yes, I've lost interest in my own selections now, much more interested in monitoring your push for the title. Assuming Andy and Djok win their 1/4 finals (which doesn't change much) it all hangs on Berdy beating Nadal and Muzz beating Djok, neither of which is out of the question at all, though they wont start favourites. I cant find anyone above you in the rankings who has that combo, so two results away from the top spot !!!!!

Thats brilliant GUB.
However whilst I really hope you get the winner of the tournament right (Andy of course) I am not sure I can fully cheer you on to hope you win the full ATP Bracket as a certain other person in our group has the same picks as you and whilst she is nine points down if the last 5 matches all went yours and her way then I guess she would at least end in the top 100 maybe significantly higher.
Oh what the heck the forum comes first

After forgetting to enter IW, i'm in for this one. Just realised that not only did i completely miss Gimeno-Traver v Istomin but i didn't save the 3 changes i made after qualies had been placed lol.

And GUB storms into the lead on 2!!!
(along with Lizzim, Linda, GoldenLady, Swissgirl, Zagorian, Genbrit, Vixs and Allyb!).
The rest of the forum team are on 1 point and tied at 7754th.
;)
Kuznetsov retired so Hanescu went through 4'6, 6'3, 4'1 ...
:grrr:
Rosol beat Muller.
Paire leads Llodra 5-2 in the first set.
Kamke has broken Kavcic and is serving at *4-2
Malisse has just broken Rajeev Ram and is serving at *4-3.
Donskoy and Dev varman (that's how flashscores have his name!) are 1-1
I'll get my excuses in early that I picked mine in about 5 minutes using a phone late last night so was unable easily to look at any head to heads (so I didn't look at any) or to gve anything more than a 10 second thought. This probably means with the lack of thought I'll have my best tournament ever! (or maybe not)
Good luck everyone

I'm now on 4/8.

Pondered but didn't go for Blake and he won convincingly, oh well-ended the day on 9.
8 out of 16 maybe reflects accurately the time I spent on picking. At least the two non seeds I picked to make round 3 from the top half are both through to round 2
What is it with Juan Monaco ? He's 12th seed , yet Ramos (ranked 61) is hot favourite to beat him. How can you become 12th seed if everone in the top 50 can beat you easily ? Is he only any good on clay ?

Possible though didn't go for that myself, Gasquet has let me down a few times before!
I had Gasquet beating Berdy in Indian Wells, because Gasquet was up in head to heads and Berdy won. So I chose Berdy this time.
I lost a lot of matches last night, including Potty who I'd picked for the semis. Hope my other semifinalists (Andy & Gasquet) get through today/tonight.
ETA - Gasquet at last takes the first set. I was beginning to wonder whether either of them would ever hold serve

Did anyone predict Dodig to beat Isner ... if so you'll probably zoom to the top of the BC leaderboard.
Big John is in serious doodoo, Dodig leads by a set and they're on serve in the 2nd at 1-1.
Almagro is romping past Pella.
LuLu dropped the first set to The Captain 3'5 but is ahead 5'1 in the 2nd.
I never learn, I always think that Berdy is going to out-perform expectations, forgetting that he is in fact, a serial muppet. Here we go again, I've bet the farm on him and he's in the process of going out in his first match !
Surely Birdy can't lose to G-T????

Blimey, Tipsy bagelled Anderson in the 3rd. That's the start of my decline, then

Heading in the other direction for once, had Tipsy, Haas, Nish and Simon (big risk on a GEM I know) , up about 5000 places to 3300 ish.
I seem to have picked two home upsets today - Querry to beat Raonic and Isner to beat Cilic. Could be heading back down the table...
I had Anderson to beat both Tipsy and Simon.
Can only get a possible of 7/8 today as I had Janowicz as Murray's next opponent. Main danger areas for me today are Cilic to beat Isner, and Raonic to beat Querrey. Though must say I'm very keen to see Raonic through as he has a likely QF clash with Berdy and I have Gasquet as the semifinalist for that quarter, although I have Berdy beating Raonic in that QF I would be happy to see a Raonic vs Gasquet SF!
If Falla beats Berdy then I'll pack up and go home...
Berdy is meant to get through another couple of rounds yet
Sallydaisy

I'm not looking any more ...
Urgh!!!
Two of the big four drop out of the event, a gift to the few directly below them (Ferrer, Berdy, Potty, Tsonga...) so they have a good chance to getting further than usual, and how do they respond... they get knocked out in early rounds :faint:
Edit: Although Berdy isn't out just yet!
98.3% picked Berdy for this match - and the rest wouldn't all have picked Falla as presumably some of them would have picked Verdasco. So I don't think this will do too much harm. It's in the next round where I have Berdy winning against Raonic that I will suffer.
Will do masses of harm for those who picked Berdy for the semies though
Don't laugh, but I picked Gasquet for the semis! :rolling:
Don't laugh, but I picked Gasquet for the semis! :rolling:
Wouldn't laugh at all, I picked him too!!
Well that was a really impressive fight from the BBC - lost 0-0 Retd.
Berdych survives to play another day - and so do I :)
Might have been better if Berdy had lost and went out though... He is arguably the biggest threat to Andy getting into the final.
Gasquet takes the second set!! :yahoo: 6-7, 7-5 and into the third set we go! Scary few moments at the end of that set though
Well done Gasquet! Well done Andy! :yahoo:
At least I have climbed up a bit :phew:

I need Tsonga to win now if I'm to maintain my position - I'm up to 594th now.
594th is great Linda, well done!! I hope it stays that way for you! :)
Well thanks - but I recall times in years past when I was on the leaderboard, but it hasn't happened for the past few years
Well this is the big moment for me, I'm on Cilic - a 6% pick, but I could move up big if he wins
Well you never know, it could happen this time. Definitely cheering with you on Gasquet smashing Berdy on Thursday though!
Nooooooooooooo come on Tsonga!
Tsonga and Tipsy are level in the second set now 3-3
In danger territory now with Tsonga: Cilic leads 5-4 in second set having won the first set 7-5 - still on serve though.
Cccccmmmmoooonnnn Cilic it all hangs on you . Also, come on Simon you useless GEM
Edit if he doesn't win it on this tie break Im switching off the computer, cant bear a 3rd set
Good boy .. yeeeesssssss
Looks like you're computer is staying on! Cilic takes it in 2: 7-5 7-6(4)
Meanwhile there is hope for Simon who lost the first set to Tipsy, leading the second set 5-2 having just broken Tipsy again!

Tsonga a bit disappointing tonight even if Cilic showing good form and doesn't do my bracket much good though it may benefit Andy(as long as he doesn't start like he dd at the Us Open of course) Will miss Jo's flair though! A bit off the pace at the moment with 76 pts, went for Tipsy in this match.
Just looked at the leader boards, what does amaze me is the the person who won IW (by 4 clear points) is now also 34th in Miami. That is either an incredible stroke of luck, or they really know their tennis.
Just double checked, not only did she have Cilic, but , also got Ferrer in the top half semi instead of Potty, just some incredible prediction
Wow, that's really cool - let's see if they can continue that run in the clay events in a few weeks time
Also, Simon up in the third set - looks good there!
My god, how many breaks of serve and match points does a GEM need ?

So's mine. You could still overtake me again quite easily. I've gone from right near the bottom, right up to top, and will very probably end up back nearer the bottom.
Edit, though with Melzer probably going a set up against Pics, that might limit some damage
Yes - I have Del Potro winning this match - but I'd like Daveed to win just 'cos I like him. I have no players at all left in the top half of the draw.
Surprised that Ferrer isn't taking advantage of Melzer here...
I had Potty for this match too, and my entire top half is dead now also.
Just need Gasquet to get revenge on Berdy :yahoo:
And of course Andy winning the title :p
Yes, I have Gasquet beating Berdy - not sure what I was thinking of when I made that pick.
My logic was that Berdy probably wouldn't be able to make Semies two weeks in a row, and Gasquet seems to be on a rise having two titles under his belt so far this season. Tsonga needs to be careful otherwise he will no longer be the French No. 1 !!
Yes, this year Gasquet seems to have finally shaken off his nerves and looks like fulfilling his potential.

Well some Brackets may have been shot to pieces but unlikely Ferrer is going to join the casualty list as now a double break up in the decider. Definitely had some problems early on though! Whilst I only picked Gasquet to reach the quarters would be delighted if he put out Berdy but think the semi's his limit here!

Really thrilled how the draw has opened up for Andy now! No disrespect to Ferrer, Simon/Haas but I would say the second semifinal is the potential final... Although I love Gasquet (:pierre: !!!) Berdy is really only Andy's huge threat, although Haas did seem inspired and Simon is rarely consistent so it's hard to work out his form, and of course Richard is on his way to becoming the French No. 1 :gold:

86.7% picked Andy to be in Semies, 71.4% to be in Final, but it will be whether Andy wins that there will be a huge advantage for anyone who picked Andy (15.5%) to win since most went for Nole winning.
OK, goodbye , my pick is now just definitively going down the ******, back down to the bottom again

Me three, I'll also score if Andy wins the tournie.
I wonder how many people picked Ferrer for be in the final?!!
Edit: Just seen that 0.8% went for Ferrer as a finalist!
