Apparently Gilles Simon was watching the end of the match between Murray and Mayer to see who he'd be playing next and what their form was like. His heart must have sank when he realised he'd be playing Andy because 'oor Brit leads their H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=MC10&oId=SD32) 10-1.

In fact, it's 6 years since Gillou beat Muzzah and at their very first ATP tour encounter at the Rome Masters in the R64. That may have been on clay but Andy has beaten Gilles 3 times on clay since then so it's fair to say that Murray has Simon's number.

The Frenchman, now 28 to Andy's 25, lost to the Brit in the R16 at the Australian Open earlier this year (in 3 straight sets) and is probably wondering what on earth he has to do to beat Muzzah.

I think they said the match would be played on Wednesday but time tbc.

BTW I hope the public transport for the tournament is better in Madrid than it was when I went a couple of years ago. The buses to the metro stopped at 12:00 (which is not that late if your feature ATP match is only starting at 21:30). I remember having a bit of an adventure getting lost in a local park, feeling a bit insecure and eventually finding a taxi back into the centre of Madrid.

Andy can win this, 'cos Simon isn't playing the right way to beat him. The way to beat Andy on clay is to keep hitting the ball to alternate corners (as Stan did in MC) 'cos Andy's not confident enough to keep running from side to side. But Simon mainly sends it down the middle, and when he does try to send it to a corner he often misses.

And Andy does get the break back :)
