oop for Monday - http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/scores/schedule/index.html

I so wish they could spread this around two days instead of all on one day. It'll be so hard to watch all the matches I want to. :grrr:

Thought I'd post a couple of links, just in case anyone missed them. First, the British Olympic stars from last year make an appearance in the Royal Box on People's Saturday (half way down page in the left): http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/23115753

Secondly, a brilliant 16 year old impressionist does his thing on Radio 5 Live: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01c25jc

Djokovic won much too easily - he really is scaring me.

Janowicz is scaring me to death with his brute force game, fierce grunts, fist pumps, come ons, and stares across the net. I'm really fearful for Andy should they meet in the semifinals. :strawberry:

I remember many were frightened about Andy meeting Milos Raonic in USO and Andy gave him good beating, a masterclass in fact. I'm not worried about Andy meeting JJ if the latter get's that far, different pressures in 5 set matches. I think Greg Rusedski's article in the Telegraph should calm a few nerves.

But JJ has a MUCH better all-round game than Milos, he's not just a serving machine. He loves to dropshot and is not afraid to volley - and the power!!! Oh dear!

Tomorrow's my last day to watch Andy til I come back from hols. We are off to Bavaria early on Tuesday morning. I really think this is Andy's and can't believe I'm not going to see and maybe even know if he has won? Would you rather Andy had Rafa or Roger in the semis than JJ? I don't think I would.
Honest order - would have most liked Roger, then JJ then Rafa. I had feared "that" Rafa particularly deep in the second week as he woulld played himself in on grass, and the grass does not bounce so low in the second week. I think Andy may have broken the ice with Roger last year on grass. But JJ is a bit like Birdy, in that I sometimes imagine that the tennis players are boxers, and JJ is a bully and can hurt Andy and if Andy is expected to win.... having said that, the calm Andy we have seen so far just may not allow himself to be bullied. If by any chance you saw Mo Farah's race today, it is a good metaphor -he ran faster and faster in the last lap because he was NOT going to let his opponent get past him. I think Andy may just have that attitude with JJ, rather than other possible behaviour from the past.
The problem with JJ is that if he plays lights out tennis and his level does not dip, it is very hard to break him. Over five sets, you would expect the dip, but we have seen that sometimes the opponent does not dip.

I too don't take to him - there are not many players I dislike but he is rapidly earning a place on my list. I'm not quite as confident as jeannie13 though: he blew Andy off the court in Bercy. However that could have been a) because he had never done much before that and b) Andy had the O2 more on his mind, not wanting to be injured before that. It seems to me though that Andy is more vulnerable to big hitters than any other type of player. At least he was.

rainy days
01-07-2013, 10:27
Andy had a MP in that match in Bercy, I wouldn't exactly call that being "blown off the court". Either way, I feel that Andy is always more motivated against lower-ranked players who have defeated him in a recent meeting, to set the record straight. That potential match is still 2 matches away though and one or even both of them might not make it.

I agree with all of those saying that Janowicz isn't easy to warm up to...

I am not a fan of this Janowicz guy. He has a good game that I would probably like except the noises he makes are repulsive, it sounds like he is clearing his throat every time he hits the ball. I like him even less because he beat Andy in Paris last year and I am not liking how effective his serve is on grass.

Someone please convince me this guy is no threat to Andy because I cant help but think he will crush Andy's, and our dreams.

Now that is over I am pleased with the way Andy is playing so far as I don't think he's played anywhere near his best but has still won all his matches in straights.

Appalling behaviour and im sure more support from the crowd would of helped Andy.
When I was watching Nole the other day, his response to the crowd was amazing, haas had many break points in a game and the crowd were 100% behind Haas in getting this game, when he did Nole applauded the crowd and Haas now that's a good sportsman. I dont think he will care and he will expect the crowd to be behind Andy if that scenario should happen.

Obviously Ferrer has proven himself on grass even if yet to go past quarters,it was a mighty battle with Andy in last year's quarters. By contrast even if he has been so gutsy the route to this stage has been tougher this time. Last year David comprehensively beat Del Potro in the last 16,though someHOW I did predict Del Potro to reach semis in FTM. iIf Juan does come through think it will be difficult for him to recover for the semi. Djokovic 2 sets up and think the match is effectively over.

Delpo certainly looked to have put Nole under pressure earlier in the set and amazing to force the TB having been 0-40 down but the missed smash when Nole was on the ground really affected him. But while Roger Federer's orange-soled shoes fell foul of Wimbledon's sartorial rule requiring clothing to be “predominantly white”, the club had taken issue with the pimples on the sides of Djokovic's shoes, which could be seen to give him an advantage.
