IT'S MAGIC MONDAY!!!
:strawberry:

FT. Muzzah v Mischa, and despite their mugshots (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=MC10&oId=Y061) they're neither of them on the run from SW19.

Youzhny is the next ranked seed in Andy's quarter of the draw but it's the WR#26 rather than the 'expected' seeded opponent of Tipsarevic (14).

The two have played twice before with Andy winning both but it's been quite a while since they've met - and never on grass courts. It's also 5 years since Mischa's heady days in the top 10 (career high #8 in 2008).

The statistics favour Murray to win this but after Wacky Wednesday it's fingers crossed all round that we shall indeed have a Magic Monday and not a Moody Monday!!!

All R16 matches for both men and women will be played on Monday so the OOP could be interesting and uncertain as to which courts players will be on.

We'll keep you posted ...

I just posted this on the general thread - you obviously thought the same

Look up the H2H for Andy & Youzhny on the ATP website (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=MC10&oId=Y061). They look like a couple of criminals in the dock who've just been handed very long sentences! Hilarious! (Why on earth do the ATP make them pose with such glum faces?)

He definitely doesn't look quite right out there, but I can't see any particular reason why - it doesn't look physical - he just looks a bit unsettled for some reason...

C'mon Andy!!

Manaus
01-07-2013, 15:58
Agree, Andy doesn't look right and Youzhny is getting fired up. Come on Andy!

Mandiemoo
01-07-2013, 15:58
Youz swinging his racquet so freely now, getting the ball back in and striking well.

Can't seem to get the first serve going consistently

Bad challenge from Muzz brings up deuce. Twitching from the crowd.

Surrendered on a DF

Meltdown. Climb aboard the coaster (sigh)

Yes. He moves great, gets to a LOT of balls, and volleys really well - I'm not sure his stamina is up to a tough five-setter though, so as long as Andy hangs in there, he should be fine.

Andy looked pretty tired mid set 2 but he found that extra gear when he had to which seems a trait of the newer Andy.
Yes, I was nervous once or twice but never behind the sofa and my nails stayed intact. Always thought he would come through when it counted.
Well done Andy - 4straight set victories ... 3 to go !

Frustrating match to watch - especially as I had to write a report while watching it .... glad Andy came through ok - onwards and Nando next!

:bravo:Andy. I was very nervous in the second set when Andy seemed to lose momentum. It wasn't the best match I've seen him play but Youzhny was a tough opponent. Andy played some great shots, some great serving and I was so relieved when he won the tie-break. Well done to him. Played like a champion when on the back foot. Good luck on Wednesday against Nando.:yahoo::GBflag:

Andy Murray still not come in to talk to media nearly 2 hours after the match, long even by his epic standards, hope nothing wrong with him.

A bit worrying, reckon his back was giving him a problem

Andy's just been on the Beeb - no questions about any injury problems

Andy Murray said that he'd needed 20 minutes extra treatment after his match but there was 'no cause for concern'.

Really happy with Andy today, when he wasn't playing that well in the second set he still made it hard for youzhny and found a way to win like the champion he is. I do think he was more passive today than I've seen him all year though and those second serves being so slow are a worry.

Not a great performance but he was mentally tough and got the W which is all that matters. He looked injured at one point but then seemed to recover - thought it might just be one of those time when something moves a bit out of place and then moves back. Fingers crossed.

Phew! The 2nd set was a bit nerve wracking but all's well that ends well! Still think he's looking good and still no sets dropped.

Bravo Andy!! Four down and one to go to the semis......Sooooooooo excited as I've got tickets for Centre Court on Friday.....I've got everything crossed that Andy will get past Verdasco on Wednesday! GO Andy!!

Ooh you lucky thing Passionanda!! Have a brilliant day! I was on CC to see Andy beat Robredo - queued for a total of 10 hours - 4 hours in main queue then from 10.30 in re-sales queue! All worth it though as we got in before Andy's match started and we had great seats!

Great win for Andy, not playing his best but that was still good enough. He has really moved on since the 2nd set wobble days, when they ruined the whole match. Hope there really is nothing wrong with the back, knowing Andy he found more kids to sign for! Or maybe he knew they would mention Cowan?

Great win Andy and a should be a good match with Nando next, sorry I'll miss it :(

Agree he was playing more passively than usual I just wonder whether he was working things around a bit more as he obviously tweaked his back and thankfully errors started creeping into youzhnys game. Hopefully days rest and lots of physio to iron out the niggle!

i think andy likes digging a hole for himself, to boost his confidence when he gets out of it.

I noticed Tim wasn't too complimentary post commentary (called his performance "average") but Johnny Mac put him in his place by saying Andy had beaten an excellent grass court player and Andy's "average" is better than most players' "best"!

Well done Andy overcoming your first "wobble" and getting a comprehensive win in the end.

Great to get the win. I thought Andy was a bit passive and probably played only at an average level for him but the most important thing is that his average level was more than enough to get past Youzhny.

Passive is a good word - not for a long time have we seen Andy tend to the defensive as he was. He was definitely not hitting the ball anywhere near as firmly as he has been of late. Only 3 or 4 shots (one being that great backhand return) were hit at the pace we've gotten used to.
Back problems he was tentatively trying out..protecting ? Tactics ? You never know with Andy but having dug a hole for himself he sure knew how to climb out of it

Tim was quite dismissive on Breakfast TV this morning too - said Andy went 'walkabout' in the second set but did concede that he got it done in three. I think it was all a bit 'tongue in cheek' though.

Wont go into detail too much here but from what I saw yes slightly tentative, less aggressive BUT came back from 5-3 in 2nd set and 5-3 in tb to win and then comfortably win the 3rd in a breadstick.
Two years ago that wouldnt of happened, the 2nd set would of been lost and mumbles and mutters would of lead him to lose focus in the 3rd.
Him and Nole proved yesterday why they are the top two in the world in my opinion.

One match at a time....

Yes I agree but personally I think there were reasons for this, notably: 1) Worries regarding back niggles
2) Just seeing Serena knocked out before coming on court (which he mentioned later to John Inverdale).

yes without a doubt the back i think made him move less well and seeds tumbling as they have been has got to affect you eventually.

Really hope back isn't playing him up too bad. Thought his serve wasn't as solid in the 2nd set but played well on the whole. Great atmosphere! Good little murraycoastering without dropping a set!

Nando a worry mainly because of all the seeds tumbling but fully believe Andy will win! #alwaysbelieve
