Nipped over from Kyle thread...perhaps he'll do better now.;)
The look on Boris' face as the Match progressed was priceless.:red devil:
I've been thinking about all Andy's OZ Open defeats to Novak-- I bet he shed many tears -- privately:crying:
I remember a number of public tears from Andy on defeats by djoko and federer. I don't think there any harm in it. Also I don't think there would be tears at everyone. Different events mean different things to different people. Many players haven't even come to the Olympics
Better from Kyle. This is confusing, Nole creeps in now.
Very quick around the court is this Daniel guy

Pity, but just not enough consistency from Kyle today.
Too many mistakes from Kyle. I hope he does better at the US Open.
Kyle is young and I really think he has a long way to go yet in terms of consistency, variety of game and court awareness. Experience hopefully will bring that on. I know he was highly praised for his part in DC in Serbia but I feel today we saw his real level. In Serbia he was playing a back from injury, below par Tipsy, who was trying to play without windscreen wipers. At the moment Kyle's game doesn't really excite me I'm afraid. He's more powerful than James Ward but in the same way as James, tends to spend too much time simply hitting the ball back and forth.
They referred to Kyle as the British #2 but isn't that now Dan according to Sally's rankings post elsewhere?

He was nowhere near that consistent, tightened his game a lot, was more like a warm up for Andy then
Yeah I felt that Daniel was better than I was expecting and Kyle was less consistent than I've become used to. I feel for though I doubt he would have got past Delpo in the next round. He is young though more Olympics in his future

I agree with you about hitting the ball back and forth. When I could concentrate on the match was willing him to employ variety. He still has a lot to learn and hopefully he will learn to use other shots to his advantage.

I like Delpo because he's seems like a great guy, but I really don't enjoy his game. I find it strange, because Raonic gets a hard time for being boring, but I think he's got far more to his game than Delpo, whose style seems well appreciated despite being a powerful ball-basher.
I think it depends on who you ask. I'm a fan of delpos powerful shots but then I'm also a fan of raonic. He has really improved his gave and started to build on it. I think he is moving better these days too.
Now tsonga vs muller on 475 looks like Muller is set to take it though. That would be a shame I love Jo

At the end of the second set there was a crowd announcement asking for fans to cheer for their players respectfully!
Interesting Rio dynamics with a Portuguese playing an Argentine! Lots of fans of both, but also Brazilians happy to vociferously support a Portuguese player against the local rival.
Although Sousa lost, he dominated del Potro in the second by moving him around the court.

I partially agree with you. Though it's only the last year or so that Raonic has been improving on other elements of his game. As to Delpo being a nice guy - hmm. In the past at least, he wasn't above sledging an opponent during change overs which I don't consider very 'nice'.

I agree. I have tremendous respect for Delpo hauling himself back into contention after so much injury but his behaviour has been questionable in the past. Andy has probably forgiven him for his comment about his Mum though - it was a long time ago!

I'm pretty sure Andy has forgiven him - that's the type of person Andy is from what I've observed. I also have great admiration for the way Delpo has persevered, plus I have sympathy for him because of all he has been through. Yet there is a 'but' in my mind. Possibly adversity has improved his 'character' [for want of a better word]. I have to admit I was routing for him against Djokovic. Partly because I felt it would be good if he was back to [or approaching] full strength. If I'm honest though, it was also partly because I do not like Djokovic and I have reservations about him.
I found myself supporting Sousa today. Some of that was because I was starting to get irritated by all the 'Delpo is such a lovely guy' stuff [not on here - elsewhere], but also partly because Sousa has more of an all round game. Though that might sound a bit of an odd claim when his main strengths are his serve and forehand.............
It's all perception though isn't it?

He was about 21 I think. I agree that's very young. Mind you, my sons are 21 and 19 and I'd give 'em what for if they were goading someone else in that way. So would their sister [who's now at the grand old age of 23]. I wouldn't accept 'being very young' as an excuse from them. Granted, heat of battle and all that. Lets hope people will be as forgiving of Kyrigos for his youthful stupidity in 7 or 8 years time. Assuming he manages to last in the game that long!
Tuesday's OOP. (https://www.rio2016.com/en/tennis-schedule-and-results/day-9)
Andy second on centre which starts at 2.45pm UK.
Jo second on court 1 with a not before 4.30pm UK against her match.
Well I'm delighted DelPo won and I am really pulling for him to get a medal, although no idea of his route. He was very young when he and Andy had that spat and I forgave him (as I'm sure did Andy) a long time ago. He has worked really hard to get back from serious injury and I'm delighted he has been able to play well at this Olympics. He is another one who it means a lot to. I remember his tears of joy getting the Bronze in London.

Apparently Djokovic is suffering from an injury which he wouldn't discuss in his press conference but was confirmed by Zimonjic. His wrist was strapped during his match with Del Potro.
So many guys wear strapping these days I just assume that it's precaution. But that's sad for him. I hope it's nothing serious and doesn't prevent him from continuing the season. I want to see Murray beat him in the final of the us and the final of world tour finals

Go online and search for freeview Olympics - it should give you the special channel numbers. I don't use freeview but someone said you may have to retune to get them. Failing that go to the usual BBC red button and rb6 for example is there if you select tennis.
From the web:
Regular Freeview viewers can watch two extra channels by pressing the red button. These will be broadcast from 7pm and 9pm, running into the early hours.
For those with Freeview HD, pressing the red button will give you access to eight streams of coverage, most running 24 hours a day. In addition to this there will be a dedicated BBC Olympics HD channel at number 114 from 7pm. Programming will include highlights, replays and much more.
For those with connected Freeview HD or Freeview Play, the following services can be accessed via the internet:
●24 live HD streams
●Highlights and replays
●Intuitive Live/Coming up/Catch up breakdowns
●Additional text & commentary and audience interaction
●An Olympics playlist that can be tailored to your tastes.

Apparently Paire's been staying in a hotel with his girlfriend (the pop singer Shy'm) against team orders but clearly there's more than just that. That happens to me too. I only have terrestrial tv and Freeview. No Sky or Virgin etc ec.....
Same here have to use my bbc sport app on tablet to watch some stuff
itf oop for today with courts and times - http://www.rio.itftennis.com/olympics/schedule
Pabbers is right. If you have Freeview HD you should be able to access the red button choices. If you only have standard definition, you won't be able to.
I also don't have Freeview HD.
Nadal is now warming up.

I relay it wirelessly from my MacBook to my Apple TV box. Just like the real thing!
Rooting for Simon today, I think Nadal could be a threat to Murray if they ended up in a final together.
Simon breaks Nadal's serve in the third game.
Watching these other players makes me realise yet again just how brilliant Andy is :)
Nadal wins the tie break 7 - 5.

The commentator just said the stadium had filled up since the match got underway.
Top tiers almost empty and there's loads of empty courtside seating.
Most of the venues seem to have been half empty, apart from the swimming pool.
Simon holds serve, but Nadal leads 5 - 2.
Unsurprisingly there's a good and noisy crowd watching Bellucci on court 1 and they seemed to get under Goffin's skin as he was broken serving for the first set.
Simon breaks Nadal's serve, now 5 - 3 to Nadal.

Yes, and 42 yesterday. Most unlike him. Someone suggested that it was because he was trying to finish the points quickly, in order to save his wrist which seems to have got worse again this week.
Friday's OOP.

Surprised they've put Brazil v USA or GBR (mixed doubles) on Court 1 instead of Spain v Roumanians.
Andy on first isn't great for me ... but I'll be watching somehow!

Yes, it is Brazil vs USA, as Jamie and Jo lost in straight sets yesterday.

Rooting for Bellucci - it would be great for Brazil. I also think after Nadal's unsportsmanlike behaviour in pulling out of the XD at the last possible moment, it would be poetic justice.

Am I the only one who is disappointed that Belluci didn't win? He was on his own turf and wanted it so much - besides which I am annoyed with Rafa for withdrawing from the Mixed so late and not for conceding that point to Nestor.
I am disappointed. It would have been great for Brazil. I have never been a great Nadal fan.

Yes sure you do.......based on what? He's been playing brilliantly with no sign whatsoever of the wrist injury. He appears to have made a full recovery thankfully. Can't think he'd risk playing at this level otherwise. Andy will have his hands full tomorrow if Rafa wins today.
