View Full Version : Wimbledon 2017 who is going or thinking of going?
Congrats guys that's great :) I haven't ever had any luck with either ballot. Next year will be my year obviously lol
So update - the LTA came back and confirmed the extras emails were just a glitch - and that my tickets were secure and paid for...so phew!! And then today another 'congrats you have been successful email' popped in,and I checked every email had a different 'you must purchase by' date - god knows what's going on with their systems this year - it can't just be me getting multiple emails!!

At least now you can start the countdown!
Hi everyone!
Just received an email from the LTA saying I've been successful in the BTM ballot- Court 2 for Tuesday 4th of July! Absolutely over the moon!
I'm hoping to maybe book one of the BTM hospitality packages to top off the day. Just wondering if anyone has ever booked any of the BTM hospitality packages? One of the packages states that it includes a guest speaker - anyone know who this tends to be? A Sports pundit? A Former Wimbledon champion?
I'd be grateful for any info. Thanks.
Hi there. We have been so lucky and have two Court 1 tickets for opening Monday. My sister also got two for Court 1 on the first Friday!!! We did contact Wimbledon office to see if we could swap so we had tickets for the same day or even the day after as we hadn't planned to stay down for a while week!! Unfortunately they explained they cannot do that which is understandable.

Ooh dont worry ive already got tickets. Thankfully i dont need to rely on another forum member to try & fleece me for almost double the amount of money they paid for the tickets. Disgusting!!! Not the done thing on this forum...us andy fans try & help each other not make a profit from each other.

Appealing to all those who know the area around Wimbledon well! I am looking for accommodation easily accessible to the AELTC from 26 June this year! Does anyone have any good tips where to base myself, ideally on a direct tube/train line to Wimbledon or a bike ride away as I may not have a car at my disposal! Thank you.

Anywhere close to a District Line station is good, ideally no further than Earls Court so that you're not too far away. I've stayed at Premier Inn Putney Bridge before but it is quite pricey during Wimby and likely to be booked up now. Also stayed at the Travelodge in Fulham which was fine for the journey to the grounds but didn't get a good night's sleep as it's above shops and on the high street. Plenty of reasonable hotels in the Earls Court area with lots of restaurants round about. I'm staying at the Rushmore Hotel this year. Haven't stayed before but my daughters stayed there a few weeks ago and found it to be fine. Quick tube ride to Southfields and then a 10 min walk to AELTC. Definitely don't take the car, the roads around the grounds are a nightmare when the tennis is on and you would need to pre-book parking. Walk from Southfields if you are ok to do that -the buses they put on take ages due to all the traffic and it is only a 10 min walk
You could also try one of the bed and breakfast agencies for Wimbledon. That's who I've booked with. We are literally a few minutes walk from the tennis.

Could try but i reckon all the really good ones location wise will be gone by now.
Could try but i reckon all the really good ones location wise will be gone by now. True but there are 2 or 3 different agencies and even a bit further away is still a lot closer than Earls Court. Someone might have something left.

I might get in to CC via the re-sales queue. Hoping Andy is last match on the Weds to give us a chance. Did that before and got to see him. Other days will be the hill or outside courts, unless we are early enough for court 2 on the Tues. Can't wait!

My first final, but been numerous times for other matches. Got really lucky in 2014 on the 1st Weds and sat 7 rows back, right in line with the net and facing the umpire. Worst was on literally the back row in 1999, when Boris played his last match and went off to the cupboard in that restaurant ;) (only found out about that though a few years later) and Henman beat Courier in a fantastic match to which I shouted my head off even though I was at the back

It has got much harder over the years. When it first started in 2007 it was easy. For the first 2 years I got tickets whenever I wanted, including the men's final in 2007/2008. Everyone knows about it now, so a few years ago I started going for Court No. 3 instead, well that worked until last year. Won't give on it, but as I have slow broadband, realise the chance of me getting any more tickets that way is extremely remote.
Ticketmaster was awful last year for me apart from opening day returns on Centre and Middle Sunday. Court 3 I like to buy often just to get in the ground and save having to queue, don't mind paying that bit extra for that. Getting more and more ridiculous each year they should release some ground passes on TM too would be nice.
Thanks sally yes was great to see you too in rouen 😊
Look forward to seeing you both😊
£4,308 is extremely expensive. It would take me years for me to have that sort of money.

Can go on until a few weeks before. I once got a ballot letter only about 2 weeks before but it was Court 1 on the last day so I didn't bother. I suppose it's the law of diminishing returns. As tickets get reballoted, they tend to be the less good tickets hence their availability

A friend got men's semis a couple of weeks before so it's still possible to get a letter in June. People start returning tickets if they are double booked.
On another note my Wimbledon tickets arrived. Really lovely design this year!

Not been Wimbledon for long time now.
I remember there ticket master sell ticket day before for centre court. I no idea if this still happen? I have not look at it for few years. So can you buy ticket for Wimbledon like that still?

Look like ticketmaster still do same thing. Just found info on Wimbledon website.
http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/tickets/tickets_what_you_need_to_know.html
Several hundred Centre Court and No.3 Court tickets are sold online on the day before play via Ticketmaster on ticketmaster.co.uk

Indeed Ticketmaster Wimbledon tickets have been available for many years, much tougher to get them now with the demand-however some here have been successful. Doubt I'll be going this year.
I also got tickets last year for the second Monday CC 2 weeks before it started.....so still waiting for my letter from them.....

Yes thrilled with the seats. Very similar seats to when I went in 2014. Just really really want Andy to turn his year around and get to the final
I wasn't lucky in my tennis club ballot - we are a very small club so only get 4 pairs of tickets anyway. But now we've been offered 3 CT1 tickets for final day. I've no idea why. The club Secretary emailed us all to ask if we were interested. It will be first come, first served. Of course I emailed back saying I would like a ticket so I am hopeful of getting one. Of course I am unlikely to take up my seat on CT1 as I would be on the hill watching the big screen.

Your club sounds much like mine. Fortunately although we get few tickets I have been lucky in that in the past few years there's not been overwhelming demand. And I'm hugely helped in that the past two years my brother has also applied and this year my friend- and both are going with me so it gave me a far higher chance of success. Our club had ct1 tix for final Saturday which no one wanted so they would've gone back into the places to play 'pot'. I wonder if that's where your Sunday Ines came from- clubs that didn't want them. Hope you get lucky this time.
I had another of those weird dreams, last night. I was staying at a hotel, though I got the impression that I wasn't supposed to be there as I kept being asked for a confirmation email. I planned to leave after the Wimbledon final. I then saw myself watching it on the TV and Sir Andy lifting the trophy. Then, weirdly, I found myself at the winners' ball and Sir Andy was there with all his family.

Hi everyone! My aunt is lucky enough to have tickets for centre court for the men's final and my mum is going as her plus one! Another relative and I are going to queue that day. Does anyone on the forum have any experience of queuing on men's final day? Any info regarding the time people joined the queue, position in the queue and any advice for queuing on the day would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I queued last year. I joined the queue at just after 6am and was 923 in the queue (I kept my queue card as a souvenir).I don' think you can queue for Centre Court tickets on finals day, you're just queuing for a grounds pass which effectively is for a place on the Hill. I had a good spot on the Hill and had a great day chatting to people around me in the queue and on the Hill. The queue starts to move from about 8am onwards and the gates actually open at 10 or 10.30 but it took me until about Noon to get in as they have airport style security which slows things down. There are things to entertain you as you queue - sponsors giving out goodies etc.
If Andy is in the Final go straight to the Hill as it gets very full. They did open up Court 2 and put it on a screen as the Hill had got too full.
Some people join the re-sales booth queue inside the grounds (there's one by the Hlll) where you can buy a re-sold Centre Court ticket for £10 as people leave, but realistically no-one leaves until after the Mens Final is over. You might get in to see the Mixed Doubles Final after the Mens is over though.
I'm lucky this year, I got Men's Final tickets in the ballot> I look upon it as my reward for queueing last year
You can't queue for Centre Court tickets for the last four days.
themass15
08-06-2017, 07:26
Yes must go in general queue and once in grounds go for resale or on the Hill.
I would imagine the queue would be smaller if Andy is not in the final .... but then again both Fed and Rafa have huge followings so who knows ....
And anyway OF COURSE Andy's going to be in the final! :cauldron:

Quite a few I think.

We are doing that and you do have to camp. For centre on Monday you have to be there on Saturday. The queue doesn't officially open until 8am Sunday but people start arriving early. I am hoping fed is on the other part of the draw as then he won't play Monday and the numbers queuing for Monday will be lessened.
Last year arriving at lunch time Sunday only just got us court 1 tickets for the Monday. Much later and it would have been court two. There are only 500 ticks for those in the queue for cc, 500 for c1 and 500 for c2.
Anyway we will be pre- queuing on Saturday ( myself KevD and Yellowlivi), the camping Sunday night and Monday night. Then hotel and day queuing on Wednesday. We will have our AMFF badges :) so you will spot us

Oh wow a full-on Wimbledon week! That sounds great! I see you're a fellow northerner - it must be so much easier already being in London/thereabouts haha, but there you go.
Yellowlivi and KevD are northerners and am I former southerner now displaced lol :) :) we will be training it back on the last train on the Wednesday and any other wimbie watching will be done on the tele. Hoping to go for more time next year :) still 3 days of tennis is great. And the atmosphere in the queue is ace :)
Oh I see! Enjoy! Yeah it was lovely in the queue the morning I was there. I can get family members to come with me for day queuing but camping...
you should camp anyway. We will be there :) Yellowlivi is no friend of camping but she'll do it for the tennis. If you don't fancy pre queuing you could try for the Wednesday. Andy will still be around then :) he'll be there every day until the final :) not certain what time we are heading down on Saturday yet as we only have the return train tickets lol
Yeah it would be much more fun to meet up with people. I should really make more of a concerted effort to get to know people here instead of popping up before Wimbledon every year  (something happened with my old account and I couldn't sign in!). Trying for the Wednesday perhaps sounds more feasible because that should be one night's camping shouldn't it (based on the trusty Wimbledon Queue Twitter). Hmm...

Yeah last year we were lucky and got Murray tickets for centre as we were in wimbie and keeping an eye on the queue tweets. When at 5 we realised there were still less than 500 in the Q we legged it all the way out of park and back to the golf course. Grabbing our tents on the way and got back in the Q we just managed it. But it was a panic. My advice would be to get there earlier than that. Especially is fed is in Murray's section and therefore also playing centre that day. A number of forumers will be about day queuing. A bunch are joining Monday morning to watch from the hill.
Side note, perhaps it is worth considering AMFF hats caps for future as the tops went so well. It was be easier to spot each other from a distance that way lol. Might be a bit late for this year's wimbie. Before anyone says it I'm sure you can always hear me! Lol
A bunch of the old accounts stopped working when we were in Serbia last July. The forum was hacked. So anyone who joined after 2013 had to create a new account. That's why there is so many now joined in July 2016 lol
Ohhh I see, that makes sense! Thanks! I couldn't understand why I couldn't sign in!
Wow glad you made it, I can imagine the panic!
I'm gonna try Ticketmaster as always. Maybe I'll try for another day visit, although it just so happened that the schedule worked out perfectly last time so that he was still playing when resale tickets became available. I'll keep an eye on things and see what happens.
I like the idea of being able to spot people from here from a distance!
I'll be there every day as usual, got my tickets about a month ago. Seats just diagonally behind the Royal Box so plenty of shade. My third Slam this year :big grin:
Wow, you're doing well!
not certain what time we are heading down on Saturday yet as we only have the return train tickets lol
If it were only one night camping I'd be even more tempted 'cause I could probably gatecrash on the same train lol.
Wow, you're doing well!
If it were only one night camping I'd be even more tempted 'cause I could probably gatecrash on the same train lol.
It was only £22! London to Runcorn. We are camping Tuesday night. We will need showers and electricity for a bit lol. I haven't got a hotel yet but I'm looking lol. Only need Tuesday night as camping sat, sun, mon, so you'd think it wouldn't be a big deal finding a hotel but it's like pulling teeth
Bargain! For Queen's I couldn't find any discounted tickets even a few months in advance. Yeah that's the train I normally get, it's so handy isn't it.
I don't blame you for wanting a hotel after 3 nights camping! Last time we got one really last minute so hopefully you find something!
Yeah I'm scouting the booking.com we are getting a lift to the ground on Wednesday morning so it doesn't have to be close to a tube. Are you in Runcorn? Only the 9.07 was £22 I got it on the virgin website. The trsinline were charging more. We are still aiming to be in the queue on Wednesday by 5am even with a hotel lol
Oh right that makes it a bit easier then. No but normally get the direct train from there. Oh OK thanks for the heads up!
Yeah we got a super early tube and got there around 5:30 I think it was.
If it just so happened that Murray was on late in the day I could do what I did last time with the resale queuing. Decisions decisions!

With Ticketmaster, if one is successful in getting tickets does anyone know how you get your actual tickets? I assume they are proper paper tickets.
With the Z rows tickets, they are e-tickets that you print off. With the returns, you have to show your printout at the gate and someone escorts you to the ticket office to get the actual tickets.
Silverdee
26-06-2017, 16:04
Thanks Linda. The Z row tickets are these the ones that go on sales 24 hours before? Z being the back row I presume?
Yes, there are 6 z rows, ZA to ZF. ZF, the last row, is quite good actually as there is a little shelf behind you which is handy for putting your Pimm's on.

Jerry D & co were arriving this afternoon
Jerry D & co were arriving this afternoon messaged her earlier. They still weren't there at 9pm
The Q feed had said later was ok so as we thought there was no camping so wanted to arrive around 10-11pm to reduce waiting time. Then heard that there were still low numbers so arrived just before midnight. We are easily in the top 500 we are in the first line. They let you into the grounds and you can put up your tent. Not all the way in but near to the entrance. We are happy to actually be in tents!
Jerry D & co were arriving this afternoon
Train was delayed so arrived at 6.30 instead of 6. Left Liverpool in the afternoon.
Been counting tents. Looks like we are 98 (counted bigger tents as two as they seem to be 4 man ones) sure there was a 2 man rule
So glad you are there and will get CC. Sounds like those who arrived early this morning may just about make it too ...

Well I clicked for half an hour and no joy., will try again at 9 tomorrow
YES!! I got ticket! First time for about 10 years. Phew.
Oh wow congrats!! Perseverance paid off!
Been counting tents. Looks like we are 98 (counted bigger tents as two as they seem to be 4 man ones) sure there was a 2 man rule
How exciting! Slightly jealous :P Enjoy!!
I will be clicking on street signs, roads and cars in my sleep #ticketmaster. Thought I'd try for Court 3 Tuesday as we arrive in the morning. Vain hope!
Haha I know!!

That's great for him. There are already over 100 people queuing for Tuesday; no doubt to see Federer
Well done all those who have tickets for tomorrow and happy camping to the rest of you. Have a fab day tomorrow and I look forward to hearing about all your adventures. I do wish I could be there....too much geography between myself and Wimbledon to be able to avail of last minute ticket offers.

So many forum people going tomorrow, really pleased for everybody, have a great time, been trying most of day on returns myself but without luck, hopefully will do better another day
Yeah hopefully more of us will be successful. :)
I don't know why I torture myself reading tweets of people currently camping, lol, although I am checking queuing tips for next week, hoping there will be a Wimbledon trip at some point.
Congrats Sam on getting tickets for tomorrow. :wimbly::clap: :yahoo::bravo:
Hope everyone that is going has a great day and I know you will all cheer loudly. :cheer::cheer::grass::strawberry:
Got in the queue on Saturday night just before midnight and were allowed to pitch the tents which was a nice surprise. We were told we were 150odd by the dude with the clicker. Had beautiful weather. Really hot. Caro and Gill visited us in the queue and came with cookies :) :) thanks guys. I cooked an underwhelming pasta (it needed cheese not nasty processed stuff). Hopefully tonight's will be better. Thanks to Gill for her help with tent pegs that wouldn't budge. Nice to see her, caro and Angie this morning. We needed up 152, 153, 154 plus there were 17 fed fans who stayed and a bunch of Murray haters infront so we ended up in the 120s but unfortunately they didn't have any opposite the umpire. We hoped for nearer the front as we got great seats last year with a card in the late 400s but we got H. Still good though. 102H but mainly just happy to be here. Regardless of seats. We are wearing our red AMFF shirts and will shout loud for Andy. Hope you all enjoy the match at home or here :)
