View Full Version : Ways to watch tennis on TV
They have completely changed the look of TennisTV this year; the program has obviously been completely re-written. Previously, although the app wasn't available for Kindle Fire, I could just go to the website and use it as though on any PC. Now, when I click play I just get a black screen :crying:
I find Tennis TV is not as 'user friendly' as it was last year. It sometimes takes me a while to figure out where to find certain things as some of the headings are not very obvious. However I get there in the end! As for the android app...there certainly are teething problems with it. I've just had yet another update last night, so I hope it is sorted now. I also used to be able to watch Tennis TV using the browser on my smart tv, but not any longer! I can get into the site ok, but end of story after that! However, one big thing that I really like about it is being able to watch any match you have missed on demand. Even if you miss the start of a match and it's still in progress, you can watch it from the beginning and miss nothing. So if you have appointments, commitments ,whatever, you have the freedom to get on with your life knowing you will be able to catch up later and so not spend time fretting that you are missing something! Main thing is to hide from the results!
This is my first experience with Tennis TV so the "new look" is all I know. I have iPad and iPhone so have the apple app and I have had no problems with it at all.

I agree that the previous format of tennistv was really easy to use and that there have been major changes. I struggled a bit at the start with the 'new look' but I've got used to it now and the original facilities are all still there.
Now that I have a Chromecast it is great to watch both live and replays on the big tv screen. As tennis is my favourite sport it works for me!!
I can get tennis tv on my big tv screen when I connect my laptop to the tv via HDMI cable. Great picture but can only get the sound from my laptop!
Probably just need to change the settings on your sound card.

That happened to me once - when I connected the HDMI cable to the TV after I had already got my tennis stream for Eurosport Player playing on my laptop the sound came from my laptop. When I connected my HDMI cable first before going onto the tennis stream on the laptop, I got the sound coming from the TV.
I can understand the feeling. I was going to cancel Sky but they continued my half price Sky Sports for another 6 months. So will be going though the same thing then. One thing about Sky is that the it is so easy to use the record functions.
I am staying somewhere else for 3 weeks and have purchased a NOW TV box for £15 and they gave me a one month free trial of all the entertainment stuff. Plus I can watch the Walter Presents All 4 foreign dramas on it too, which are not available on the Sky platform. In the future I can then use it to get Sky Sports etc just for a day if necessary.
I'm getting used to being without it .... I really like Tennis TV as I can just pick the matches I want without recording and can chromecast to TV in HD, and it's sooo much cheaper than sky sports, even at half price! Again I use the chromecast to watch catch up TV including all the box sets in all 4. So the only thing I don't have is the sky channels. For now we're ok without them and summer is coming but we will consider a now box or sky again if they offer us a deal we can't refuse come next autumn / winter. Yes it was easier having it all on one platform with sky but we are saving so much money this way!

I am waiting for fast broadband to come my way at home to - as cannot always watch on-line TV as broadband too slow. Where I am staying at the moment I have got fibre broadband and it completely changes the way I can watch TV.
I'm just thinking these posts should have been in the 'ways to watch tennis on tv' thread not this one. Does a mod want to move them?
Have to say I was disappointed with the tennis tv replay of the Andy Pospisil match. The picture showed popsicle punching the air in triumph so the outcome of the match was in little doubt even though I'd avoided the score all day! Also thank goodness I took out a month's subscription that sees me through IW and Miami

Yes that's a good point. Not a problem if it's not the lead replay match at the time as they only have pictures for the lead match, but a big problem if it is.

Blimey. Good excuse to stop paying extortionate amounts for Sky. But to watch on amazon means having fast internet connections.
Eurosport also shows a few ATP tournaments - I wonder if that will continue.

I won't be continuing with Sky without the tennis. Eurosport have been showing more (apart from the 3 slams) but I think they only cover 250 events apart from Queens.
Tennis TV will be rubbing their hands with glee.

So Sky Sports won't be covering any tennis after the contract expires next year. Heard Amazon were bidding not long ago and had some doubts about Sky's commitment when they didn't have a dedicated channel in the new Sports set up.
I did wonder at that when they created channels for so many other sports. I guess it makes sense now

Guess the viewing figures didn't make it worth their while
Didn't Sky overspend on some football contracts which is partly why they dropped the US Open.

I haven't got fast internet and the majority of the time Tennis TV works fine for me so I can't see Amazon being any different. However, I'll stick with Tennis TV I think at £9.99 a month. I switch it on and off as I wouldn't use it for the whole year.

Please explain how Tennis TV works ? I do have Sky Sports at the moment, think contact is up for renewal in November so if no tennis l will cancel. I also have Eurosport in my tablet, thks

TennisTv is an online service. You need to go on and register and pay. They cover the master series and ATP 500s and 250s. You can watch on TV or some platforms such as Amazon or chrome sticks.
Amazon does not take over the tennis until 2019, so tennis will still be with Sky for a while.
I got told, yesterday, to re-tune my TV as some Freeview channels had moved. Afterwards, I noticed there is a sports channel coming but I bet that won't be free to view.

I wonder how much of Sky's decision is based on the fact the Big 4 are all in their 30's, have suffered injuries and don't have too much time left. It's hard to see the viewing figures improving especially with no obvious British talent emerging.
Having said that, it's amazing how Sky can gloss over having 9 dedicated sporting channels with the fact they are showing less and less actual sport. No tennis, just lost the US PGA Golf, Champions League to BT..........I'll certainly be looking to re-negotiate my contract with them. If only we could get sport without the flaming Premier League football.
At this rate the only member of the big 4 who will still be going when Sky loses tennis, will be Federer. I genuinely think people are getting bored with him now.

I've been wondering that was a reason in addition to them having to pay too much for the football. Let's hope Kyle starts doing really well soon and makes them regret their decision.

The good thing with Tennis TV is also that they cover more courts and show some doubles. They also have the WTF. Works great for me as I can watch replays if I'm out (which is often cos of work), can also watch on the ipad or chromecast to TV. It costs £85 for the year or £9.99 a month. I have worked out that monthly is actually cheaper for me as there are months when I won't watch much at all (eg. July as it's Wimby then no-one hardly plays the rest of the month). I tend to only have it when there are masters events but it's dead easy to switch on and to cancel again if you only want it for a month.
I feels like tennis is getting very marginalised now though as the move to amazon will mean mens' tennis will not be available on actual TV at all except for the Grand Slams and the few other events that Eurosport show.

Amazn prime is available on many smart TVs. However the contracts keep on changing so nothing is guaranteed.
Times (https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/amazon-to-win-10m-atp-world-tour-tennis-tv-deal-after-outbidding-sky-sports-3jfmqnpkt) - Amazon to win £10m ATP World Tour tennis TV deal after outbidding Sky Sports
It has been clear in recent years that tennis has fallen down the pecking order at Sky, so the company’s failure to compete with Amazon for the ATP rights does not come as a shock. The company has focused much of its financial resources on retaining coverage of Premier League football and English cricket, under fierce competition from BT Sport.
Sky had to fork out £4.176 billion for a three-season package of Premier League rights from 2016 to 2019. It also recently doubled its existing deal of £75 million a year to show English international and domestic cricket from 2020 to 2024.
It has been noticeable in recent years that Sky’s production of tennis has taken a significant hit. Tournaments have been shown without studio analysis and commentary is often used from the international feed rather than from in-house.
In 2015, Sky heavily publicised the 25th anniversary of US Open coverage, but did not broadcast the tournament a year later, despite the subcontracting of rights from Eurosport costing less than the £11 million it was paying per Premier League match.
A further sign that tennis was being cast aside came when it was not one of the sports chosen alongside Formula One and golf for the launch of new dedicated channels by Sky.
Blimey, the subcontracting rights to show the whole of the US Open were less money than paying for one Premier League footall match.

Yes, I know but it's an online streaming service via smart TV not an actual TV channel. So it still means it's only going to be available on a smart TV via an app not on a non connected TV.

TBH, the BBC only show the afternoon matches as it is and no doubles so I will be sticking to Tennis TV whatever happens.

We've just cancelled Sky, just started our month's notice with them. We recently bought a smartTV and with Netflix, Eurosportplayer & TennisTV we just found we don't need Sky any more. The only downside is I have recordings on my Sky digibox of DC matches that I would love to keep, but Sky have said that once our contract ends we won't be able to access recordings from the box (grrr, those DC matches were shown on BBC so are freeview anyway in my view, but I guess they get away with it on the grounds that the recording is a service they provide). My resident technical adviser (aka hubby) has looked into being able to get the recordings off the box but despite his considerable techno-geek expertise it's looking like he won't manage it.
Soooooo my question is does anyone have DC matches on DVD or know where I can get them from? I'm thinking particularly of the glorious 2015 matches, versus USA, France, Australia and of course the final against Belgium. Also wouldn't mind having Andy's matches against Delpo last year at both DC and the Olympics. I can buy Andy's Wimby victories on DVD no problem, but DC is another matter. I checked on YouTube and they only offer highlights reels. So sad to lose my recordings but couldn't justify paying £34 a month just to keep them and knew I would lose them the day the box goes chips anyway.
Could you buy a PVR recorder (e.g. DVD recorder with PVR) and copy them off the Sky box before the month's notice expires. They would be useful things to have for future use anyway. I have an old DVD recorder with PVR and dump stuff from my Sky box on to there when my Sky box gets full. They are connected up with scart leads. I set my DVD recorder to record from AV output of the Sky box. Then I select the items I want to copy on the Sky box and click on those. Then set them both going overnight. You can do it with old video recorders too. (To select items you want to copy on Sky, go into the planner and when you find a program you want to copy, press the right arrow to see more options and you will see a copy option. You can highlight several of these in one go.)

Thanks Cazza, will get the resident techno-geek to look into it. We did have a DVD recorder at one time (not sure where it is, but knowing hubby he won't have chucked it). He did try one thing with scart leads from advice online but I'm not techie enough myself to know if this is different or not. I'll pass on your post, thanks for the advice

you can certainly transfer to DVD or other devices https://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/skypluscopying.html and that should be fine, need subscription unless you pay £11 a month to keep the recording features on the Sky Box Recordings (http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky/Watching-Recordings-on-Sky-HD-after-cancelling-subscription/m-p/2656648#M63857).
I have most of those matches on my Humax Kath. Anyone know how or if they can be copied?

Thanks for all your suggestions. Will give it some more thought - the trouble with all this new technology is it seems to be very locked down. Ironically if we still had a VHS recorder I would have been easily able to copy to DVD or computer.
One option I have got is an online streaming service for academic institutions that I can access via my job (don't know why I didn't think of it earlier - I organise the subscription for it!) - but just had a look and I found all of the semi vs Australia, days 2 & 3 of Ghent, and the doubles from the Queens QF against France, the DC and Olympics matches against Delpo and Andy's WTF matches against Raonic & Djokovic. But still missing quite a few DC matches
Couldn't resist watching the first 2 sets of the doubles in Ghent :GBflag:
Whilst you can certainly transfer to DVD or other devices https://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/skypluscopying.html think you may still have problems without a subscription unless you pay £11 a month for the recording features Recordings (http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky/Watching-Recordings-on-Sky-HD-after-cancelling-subscription/m-p/2656648#M63857). Only way round I've seen thus far is with some software but only seems compatible with older operating systems. She is still subscribed until the notice runs out - so has nearly a month.
There is a new free sports channel available on the Sky platform called "Free Sports" on channedl 424. It is covering Metz 250 this week so hopefully more tournaments to come.

Yes very useful
Finally got around to checking freeview channel 95 ... and we don't have it! No channels above channel 93. I assume we just have to re-tune. It's a pain in the butt, I hate freeview! I miss sky but am saving so much money not having it.
Can't you get your freeview channels on your sky box without paying Sky?

I must admit I've not tried but can't record to the box anyway so no point. I've got a freeview humax box now.

Do you have a DVD recorder with a PVR? If so you could just leave the Sky channel running and keep the DVD recorder recording off Sky.

yes i do, but it's a right palaver. Much easier to record to the humax box which has series link etc like sky+. What I hate about freeview is the constant need to re-tune and the fact that I don't have everything in one place (ie. tennis, catch up, box sets etc). I now have freeview, eurosport, tennis TV (and chromecast for casting to TV) and NOW TV for sky channels and the full monty of catch up. So I have it all but it's all over the place whereas before I had everything on sky. Like I said though it does save quite a bit of money and the humax box is really just as good as the sky box but of course I can't record eurosport or sky channels any more.
I am going to have to get rid of Sky at some time too. I think I may as well get a Freesat box and plug the Sky cables into it. Trouble is, it is finding something easy to use so will have to do research. My Samsung smart TV now has Eurosport on it. It also has amazon video so hopefully the masters tennis will be on that and no need to use addtional boxes.

Think I can guess the answer to that one. Flippin Amazon  But yes, I'd like clarification too.
I'm planning to stick with TennisTV but will need to wait and see what happens re: the grand slams. I'm sure I read that the USO has gone to Amazon, is that right? In which case I will have to take the plunge. Is that from 2018 does anybody know?

It looks the Grand Slams are going to be streamed on Amazon via Eurosport. I have a prime subscription. Currently £79, but often drops to £59 on Black Friday, so might be worth keeping a look out. So far the suggestion is it will be via standard Prime, however
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see something like “Prime Plus” being rolled out eventually. I will keep my eye open. I cancelled Sky Sports’s few weeks ago. I suspect t the Amazon offering will be cheaper than Sky Sports.

Seems that Amazon have exclusive rights for the US Open in Uk/Ireland starting from 2018,2019 before they have the Masters and ATP 500's though. Eurosport will continue to show Australian/French, also available on Amazon platform but you need to pay extra for the Eurosport Player access. Take it Amazon will have replays up for a period of time, though personally like the facility to record which won't be available with Amazon if you have it on TV. Sky Sports won't have any tennis from 2019, some ATP 250's on Eurosport and Amazon but most on FreeSports (on Freeview 95, Sky 424), WTA still mostly on BT Sport, a few on Eurosport. Outside Wimbledon BBC will have Queen's,Davis Cup and World Tour finals along with Amazon and exclusively have Eastbourne (wta). Of course ITV4 also cover the French , whilst table has it listed for 2019 thought ITV contract ended 2018, haven't heard about renewal. https://uktennistv.wordpress.com/2017/11/17/how-to-watch-tennis-in-2018-amazon-prime-enter-the-arena/
Thanks everyone. So I will be fine with TennisTV and Eurosport player up until the USO 2018 then by the sounds of it. Right pain having to get amazon prime just for the USO. I'm assuming like sky and Eurosport that amazon prime won't have all the ATP tournaments which still makes TennisTV better in that regard.

No it's quite a sensible question :), whilst chrome Cast tends to work well for video if you have a reasonable wifi apparently Amazon don't officially support it and whilst will work highest video quality for casting is 720p. You could do it via cables of course http://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/laptop/connect-laptop-tv-3280787/ (http://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/laptop/connect-laptop-tv-3280787/)
However most modern smart tv's should either have the app preinstalled or you should be able to download it and thus would have Amazon Prime Direct, if you don't have such a TV the best bet could be an Amazon firestick and once connected to HDMI gives you smart features and being Amazon Prime is obviously central. Little difference between Chrome and Amazon stick pricewise (usually 30-40) but there are discounts available this weekend. The fire stick doesn’t need any cable. It plugs straight into theTV1351
I don’t think it needs an external power supply.
The Fire TV is just a bigger version with some storage on it. I have both, but never used the storage on the Fire TV.

Sky are changing a few things and have got some offers in at the moment.
Just phoned Sky up to cancel Sky Sports as I am not expecting to watch it for a few weeks from late April. They ended up giving me the full sky sports package (instead of Action and Arena) making my whole package costing £0.50 more than my current package (without the sport) and the offer is for 18 months.

For those interested and with the suitable equipment Eurosport will be broadcasting the main French Open matches in UHD (available if you have Skyq or Virgin V6)) and obviously a compatible TV. For Skyq you need the 2TB Box and Multitiscreen https://www.digitaltveurope.com/2018/05/22/eurosport-launching-4k-uhd-tv-channel-for-roland-garros/
How annoying .... I have a new UHD TV but don’t have sky or virgin, only Eurosport player .... if only there was an app available on the TV like there is for BBC sport

It will be really good value next year when we'll get ATP coverage plus USO and WTF ... not bad for £7.99 a month considering what sky subscribers pay at the moment! At the moment I get TennisTV monthly during the months I want it, which costs £9.99 a month so I will definitely be swapping next year. For USO this year I will take out the 30 day free trial then not subscribe after it's finished (until next year).

You can go in to your Amazon Prime account now and change it - so you cancel basically but still get the free month.
I have had Amazon Prime for several years now. It’s about £80 a year. Black Friday often has offers on.
For that you get Free Delivery, music, all sorts of TV, and now Tennis. Even without the tennis, I have been quite happy paying for it. It’s about £6.50 a month. A lot cheaper than Sky Sports.
I have just checked. It has all of the main matches from Queens available to watch or download, plus most of last year’s matches.
AM’s matches against Wawrinka and Kyrgios are available.
No affiliation with Amazon BTW.

I have tried this as we have a brand new TV. The picture clarity and depth is something else! But sadly our broadband is not fast enough at the moment so the stream kept buffering. Hoping to get faster broadband in our village in the not too distant future. Hope they offer this again next year as I can’t see UHD being widely available by then.

Certainly impressive though you do need decent Broadband, sure it will be offered for Wimbledon again plus other events. Will be via iplayer than main channels due to bandwidth for foreseeable future, currently you cannot pause or rewind on this stream but should be able to do so in future.

I have had it for a few years now. Given what’s included, I have found it good value for £79 a year. I do buy a fair bit from Amazon anyway. The films change as well. The tennis will be a bonus.

It's definitely good value for the price, and includes free next day delivery on amazon orders as well of course. Although their film selection is not nearly as good as NowTV which I have had in the past. That's £9.99 a month though just for the films unless you get a deal, which I often have. I know some people are quite excited about Amazon Prime showing the US Open and I have taken the 30 day free trial to watch on laptop or iPad. However, looking at their schedule for the first few days it is fine if you want to watch one of the 3 main courts but coverage of the outside courts will be "a selection of the day's most exciting matches" so not necessarily your choice. Still, better than nothing I suppose.
Josephine

Only full replays of all matches from quarters onwards. https://advanced-television.com/2018/08/14/amazon-announces-presenters-for-us-open-coverage/
Think I am going to miss having Eurosport player with a choice of all matches and better quality picture. Maybe we should all write to amazon saying we want more courts covered.
Now that we are meant to be able to watch things like our UK Netflix and UK Sky in Europe, surely there ought to be a way round of watching european Eurosport Player in the UK.

Apparently there are technical problems but highlights should be up later. thank you James and exislander. It is indeed not like Tennis TV haha! I seem to remember during Eastbourne a similar set-up and I could only find the catch-up for Queens ! Useful! Hopefully it will improve - they are certainly getting lots of feedback on their substandard service. (my picture was good so I don't have any other complaints.)
I spent some time this morning reading through the Amazon Prime reviews (I need to get out more!) and they were anything but favourable. A deluge of complaints mainly about no replay and poor quality picture. I hope they take note. My picture was ok, not as good as it could be, but I was so grateful just to have a picture at all so that I could see Andy. I'm on the free trial so maybe I'm a bit more tolerant, but if I had been paying I would certainly expect much better. Are all the Grand Slams (except Wimbie obviously and thankfully) going to be on Prime for the next 5 years? Let's hope there are significant improvements if that is the case.

Seems quite a few disgruntled customers though know those satisfied perhaps less likely to submit reviews, my picture was good enough but not of the highest quality. Eurosport still have contract for Australian and French in UK till 2021 anyway, whilst ITV also extended their rights of the French till 2021. May change after that of course.

The only way I could find the 30 minutes of highlights was to put in a search. They are now on my 'watchlist'. I was watching the stream with Koenig too; couldn't understand why some were talking about Courier. What a waste of a precious stream having the same match on 2 streams concurrently.

Seems to be sorted now - earlier it said something about them needing a license to play it? They are calling the highlights and the one match replay "Bonus Content". Huh!
Yep, bonus content of highlights and match of the day now available. I didn’t have to search, it is there right next to the main coverage. At least yesterday’s match of the day was Andy. Hopefully it will be available sooner every day now and from quarters onwards, replays of all matches.
The main stream and court stream being different is only the same as Eurosport player. They also have different commentators quite often on main and court stream. For those who watch on TV, you wouldn’t notice. So the ‘player’ also has same match on 2 streams but there are many more streams of course. I guess we are spoilt these days with multi court coverage! We used to have to watch what they chose and with amazon, it’s a bit like that except at least there is the choice of 4 courts.
It’s not the best but hey, at least we can watch!!
I have just discovered that there are extra streams on Prime. In addition to the show courts and the outside courts stream, there are now streams for courts 5, 10 and 17. Apologies if this has been posted on another thread.

Strange - I can still get Day 1 and 2 Match of the day, Highlights days 1, 2 and 3 but no day 3 match of the day listed.

That is an improvement, but it was the first 2 rounds when we needed them most. Just hope they do it for next year.

Regarding replays - I seem to remember that when I signed up for Prime to watch Eastbourne, they didn't have Eastbourne replays but I could see listed replays for Queens which they had also shown. Fairly useless all considered but it may mean that there is a long delay between the live matches and them appearing on their replay list. We should keep whinging at them and hope that they will buck up their ideas.

Sky sports won't show any tennis in 2019, Eurosport will still have Australian/French and some 250's. You don't need the Sports package to watch Eurosport on sky but obviously alternative is Eurosport player. ITV will show the French too but only have it on one channel. All the 500's will be on Amazon Prime, alternative is Tennis Tv but they do not show the slams. https://tennisontelly.uk/

The picture is still not so good on my smart TV though. And I do have fibre broadband so speeds should be good enough.
Whilst I haven't got a ticket for Glasgow I was looking forward to watching it on BBC and started clearing the 3 days (eg swopping my hospital volunteer job at the local hospital from the Friday to earlier in the week) for uninterrupted viewing; this morning I picked up next week's tv guide and can't find any Davis Cup for the Friday. No, it isn't always on BBC1 or BBC2. It could be on the red button or BBC Sport. This BBC list only goes up to Tuesday, but by this weekend you should know. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/43634915

The tennisontellysite says Sunday is listed for BBC red button - but nothing yet for Friday or Saturday.
I'm very disappointed by this situation. Sunday could be a dead rubber anyway. And as it doesn't matter, apart from seeding, if we lose anyway, I'm beginning to lose interest; but having said that, I know I'll be frantic to watch it come the 14th. I don't know what I'm suffering from most - sadness, frustration, disgust, anger ........

I have checked the bbc website tv schedule which you can now see for Friday. There is nothing listed that I can see - I can't see the red button schedule. How horrid if it is not on and how ridiculous to just have the Sunday which could be dead rubber as said above.
The Davis Cup is listed as being on the red button in the sports schedule on the BBC. It was put on today. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/43634915
Pleased it is at least somewhere but don't know how good it will be for me; don't think red button has sub-titles.

My mum, who is an avid reader of the Radio Times, says there is a letter in it this week from someone complaining about Amazon Prime's incompetence re the US Open.
Whilst I am much happier with them towards the end of the tournament than I was at the beginning, I switched on the replays this morning first thing to watch the Novak vs Kei match only to see Jamie's mixed doubles semi under the heading for the men's singles semi. I eventually found Novak but only got the last set. Ok as it happens as it meant I didn't have to sit through 3 sets of the inevitable.
I had previously logged on to try and see a wheelchair match (the day it was delayed due to heat) to find the commentator rambling in jibberish for several minutes not realising the mics were on. It's still rather amateurish.

After thinking that Amazon Prime had improved their service, they fell gigantically at the last hurdle. I was too tired to watch the men's final last night so turned on the replay. I was greeted by shots of the winner with the cup before the film jumped back to the start of the match. Nice one! What a bunch of amateurs. :grrr:

Maybe tell them. If they are learning then they ought to take note.
Erm, after 650 reviews (of which one was mine) they stopped people reviewing because they were all complaints and giving * or ** only. I know some people on here are satisfied but I feel as a nation we have got into the habit of shrugging and saying it is what it is. If we don't complain we won't get better service. It's all very well for those who are "all right Jack" but that's another story and don't get me started on selfishness. When I go to Portugal, we don't have broadband so I might as well stop following tennis once Amazon take over the other ATP tournaments which I understand is their aim. For what they make via their business and don't pay via taxes, I think they could afford to be less cynical and provide a decent service. Otherwise go back to doing what they do well, which isn't sport and it's not only tennis...….

Well, I gave them a one star review. I think they should have learned before this - we're talking big business not a market stall. I saw they showed Queens. I can't think many were viewing Queens on Amazon so this would have been a great opportunity for a trial run. Get in some tennis fans and see where the tweaking was needed. They weren't good with Eastbourne - no re-runs that I could see at that point. They certainly did improve but hardly a professional service.

It is not just their aim, it is agreed. Their coverage starts from 2019. I think TennisTV will also still show all ATP tournaments though as well. I appreciate it's all streaming though.
I blame sky for spending so much on football they could afford to put in a decent bid on the Tennis. They’ve been gradually dropping Tennis coverage for years.

unfortunately this didn't work although the message did alter from not enough memory to there being a "problem with this video". I tried various replay matches so I don't think it's that.
I have new LG 6400 tv, BT freeview but no sky or virgin media. I had no problem with viewing Prime (other than our tennis specific ones which were resolved) . When I called the TV shop they said I wouldn't be able to view it and would need and "external hard drive". Is this correct? If so is there a specific size?
any help gratefully received. I am a user of tennisTv for all the smaller tournaments so feeling a bit fed up with it just now! :thanks:

Looking into this Tennis Tv may not be supported on LG , they name supported devices and only Tv OS system they mention is Android and LG use Web OS which seems to be a Linux Based system. Have not used Tennis TV much myself and have Samsung rather than LG, perhaps shop were talking about something like Fire Tv/Apple TV which do work with it. I have a Samsung Tv myself and whilst not currently supported due to added in due course apparently. https://www.tennistv.com/help/watching-on-a-tv/ Mind initially there were problems with Prime's Us Open Coverage on some LG Sets.

thank you again James. Appreciate your time. I looked at the tennis tv link re LG. It doesn't look good for me. Perhaps I'll have to use Prime as I believe they are doing most tournaments now. :thanks:
Sorry, late to the party on this ... I also have a LG TV, bought earlier this year and James is right, you can't get TennisTV app .... BUT you can get it on chromecast which is what I do. I think it cost me about £25 but it means I can watch on the big screen so well worth it. It's a pity LG don't support the app though and yes, as from next year it will all be on prime anyway.
You can get The tennis tv app on a firetsick. The firestick plugs into the hdmi port on any hd tv. An Amazon firestick just plugs into your tv and uses your WiFi. I don’t have a smart tv but my fire stick makes my tv the same as a smart tv. I can use it to watch the tennis on amazon prime. But also to watch other catchup and streaming. I used it to download the Tennis tv app.
You then go online to the Tennis tv website to set up your susbscription. Then when you open the app put in the usernames and password from the subscription you set up.
Often on prime days amazon will sell the firestick for cheaper. I got mine for £20 instead of £40

I got mine for £20 instead of £40
thank you Jerry. This and the info from Caro is all useful. I will investigate which I think is best for me. May come back with some additional questions !
Is it possible to watch tennis for free on an ipad?
Only the tennis you can get for free on your TV Betty (eg. Wimbledon on BBC app or Roland Garros on ITV app).
Some people have accounts on Bet365 which I believe you have to 'load' with £10 'betting money' but never have to use it to bet and the tennis is then free.
I don't use that ... I pay for amazon prime £7.99 a month or I think it's only £5.99 a month is you don't want the music, books and free delivery, and that includes films as well. You can cancel whenever you want and there is an app for the iPad. All the 1000 and 500 series will be on there next year so will be good value when you think how much sky sports used to cost us all!
I also subscribe to TennisTV on a monthly basis which again you can cancel when you want. You can either pay £9.99 a month which is what I do as there are several months during the year when I don't use it (eg. July when it's Wimbledon and then I don't bother with the tournaments just after). Or you can pay yearly which works out cheaper if you have it all year. Again there is an app for the iPad.
Oh and then there's Eurosport which has the Aus Open and full coverage of the French. I think that was about £20-£30 for the whole year on special offer and again there is the app for the iPad.
Hope all that helps ... I do wish it was all in one place though, it would be soooo much easier!

Carolyn, thanks so much for that information which is very helpful and yes it would be much better for everyone if it was all in one place.
You get Eurosport player with Amazon Prime for £4.95 a month added to the £7.99.

Thank you, that is worth knowing as I only really use it for the Aus and French. Again it's cheaper on a yearly subscription if you want it all the time for other sports.

I have never had a subscription to Sky but am very pleased that Amazon are now taking over. I thought their coverage of the US Open was excellent. They showed so many matches and if you didn't want to stay up overnight , you could watch the replays over breakfast. All for £7.99 a month which also includes films, videos, special shopping offers, free ebooks etc. Great value for money.

I agree Sky are extremely expensive and far cheaper options are available.
On another point.... just logged onto tennis tv to watch Kyle. I wanted to watch from the start and there is a clear option to do this on their screen when you go to the match. I clicked it but it took me to the live match anyway :( If you want to watch from the start, not knowing the score, I'd be careful about this. It's probably best to wait until the match is over and then it's on their replay screen.
