“I have fought the last two weeks so hard for her - and I think she would be proud,” he has just said, in tribute.

Nick has never lost a match in Atlanta, beat Isner in the final last time he played there, says he likes the place. The win over Chardy was Cam's 10th ATP win this year, had only managed 2 before and his ranking up from 275 to 73 in the last 12 months

I missed the first set as when I went to look at 8pm, my info was showing 8.45pm start. Hmmm. Anyway, from what I saw Cam was outplaying Nick. The commentators seemed to put it down to one of his moods, and not so much the injury. He didn't appear to be limping to me in the 3 games that I saw but difficult to know. I was shocked when he retired. The crowd booed him, obviously disappointed. Well done Cam for keeping your focus and good luck tomorrow.
