ATP Bracket Challenge thead for 2011
The next tournament is Shanghai. The draw will be up on Saturday afternoon and play will start on Sunday morning.
So there is a very tight deadline indeed as they are several hours ahead in China.

23 hours to predict from the time of this post.
Just done mine. Looked at a few H2H and my goodness, the new photos are awful. They all have those bright red lips and look dreadful! I think they might be even worse than the 'thug' ones they had a couple of years ago. I wonder why the ATP are so keen for all their players to look terrible?

Done, and as usual I don't expect to be right.
Done mine in less than 5 mins after getting home. Don't expect much this time :)

I'm in!
So the only comps this time are the bracket challenge and FTM?
Just done mine - had to really rush so I'm not expecting too much success. Hope I get the winner right though! ;)
Anyone else got Qualifier 6 to win?

Not sure why the ATP are closing the Bracket at 6am UK time; the first main draw match isn't until 6pm in Beijing and that's 11am so they could give another 5hrs ......
They set the deadline before they knew the oop probably.
 I meant to choose Andy as the winner but temporarily set it to Rafa to see what % had picked him and forgot to change him back
First match has started - Stan is a break up in the 3rd :)
A good idea to check the results now - we are probably all in 1st place as the majority picks won the first two matches :)
I always think that I am completely methodical and impartial in my picks, considering H2H and recent form, etc., but I notice that of my 3 minority picks in the first round they are all Spanish - so maybe I am biased after all without realising?
can anyone get to see an AM.com team list on this site. When I click on it I just get a can not display this page. Surely Andy's web site owners couldn't block that as well?;)
no,but its more Lilly just to be a clich there system is pants

I'm having the same problem Yorkie ... so I'll see what can be done.

... but I've had problems clicking on bits of the ATP site for ages. It lets me look at a draw sheet but if I click on another one it shows 'stopped' in the bottom left corner of my tool bar.

Searched around and found a note in their forums yesterday morning that the 'groups were all down' but that might have been because the first main draw matches had not been played.

Dimitrov to the final would be good for Andy if he got there but I picked him to lose round 1! Looks like the whole site is having major issues as some in first place have 22 points when there has been nothing like 22 matches played.
I think I've got 8/9 so far with just Dimitrov spoiling my otherwise perfect record. So certainly started well and hoepfully will finish well given I went for Andy this time.
If I click on groups I just get a blank page under the header.
My draw says Roddick has knocked out Rafa now :rolling:

It's completely up the swannee this morning!
:barmy:
The leaders are now on 31 points.
I've only got 3!
:crying:
Someone just posted this on the Bracket Forum - must be American time!
on 10 Oct 2011 07:44 am How can there be people with 31 points, and no way i am 8000th. Please look into this. Thank you.
Peeps have been reporting the problem to the ATP so hopefully it'll be sorted out soon.
The scoring has been sorted, but the groups haven't.
The group scores are up now.
The groups look to be sorted now as well and its well done so far to Ms Tree with 13/14 in 18= and showing up on the leaderboard. A couple of qualifiers who should have won messed me up and so I ended the day on 11/14
I'm on 11/14 too - Anderson, Dodig and Andujar let me down

Good to see some things don't change when we get a new web site;)
I think tomorrow will be a bad day as I have 4 dead matches out of the 10 left to be played in round 2 so I'll try and come and join you Sally
The bottom half of my draw is mainly pink :crying:
I'm not used to the lack of oxygen up here... Three cheers for Tomic and Ryan Harrison!
However I've also got three dead matches in the remainder of R2 - although hopefully not too damaging yet as Tipsy and Cilic were majority picks - the problem is that I have them winning R3 as well. Bungee alert! :help:

You're sooooooooo kind ...
:hmm:
I have four dead or already lost matches in R2, and one in R3 (Fish). My only excuse for picking Troicki is that I didn't know who the qualifiers would be. Very pleased to see that my minority R1 pick of Floppy came through (though I can't understand why only 14% picked him, with a 4-1 H2H and having had a great run at Shanghai a couple of years ago, whilst Tipsy has never done anything there).
No-one else discussing how we're doing?
I had a better day today - of all the matches I could have scored for, I only got one wrong. Though that was Tsonga and I have him getting to the semis so that will hurt me in the following rounds. I'm now 2nd in our group (to Ms Tree, who is now in the first column on the leaderboard in 12th place) and 107th overall. Well done Ms Tree! I really need Almagro to win tomorrow as he is my only minority pick now.
I was doing ok until Lopez beat Bogomolov.
Can't understand how you didn't predict that one
No Spanish fetish here! It was a close run thing.
I saw the last set and he played dreadfully - I think he had something like 14 double faults and 44 unforced errors in the match - so goodness knows how he won. Bogomolov must be feeling cheated. Berdy will mash him tomorrow.
Can't understand how you didn't predict that one  bit rich from the woman who picked le grand muppet tsonga to reach the semi
I think a lot of other people did too!

I've only got one minority pick left live - and that's my winner in the final! However, three weeks running might be a bit much to ask...:trophy::trophy::trophy:
No-one else discussing how we're doing?
Don't think I want to know :hide::hide:
Today starts off badly for me with the first two wrong (one was a dead match for me anyway) and the third one looking like going the same way.
Ms Tree has the first two right and extends her lead over the rest of us!
giraldo winning today would be nice,he is a o.2 %pick
its downhill all the way for me with only Andy and Rafa as live picks left - and Rafas just lost the first set Mind you I certainly would not object to Rafa going out as that surely improves Andy's chance of getting to number 3 this week if he can win the tournament.

Well my bracket is officially up the swanny now!!! Had Rafa as my winner, which serves me right for not picking Andy!!! But who cares, if Andy can go on to win this tourney and take the no 3 spot. I'd rather see that happen any day!!!

Lost my winner now, to be expected as I am a jinx at predicting.
Apart from Andy as my winner, I have one other scoring match left - Ferrer to beat Roddick, so I might have a chance of at least staying about where I am...

My bracket is officially dead and buried, as I only have two players left - Andy and Ferru.
I suppose we should have expected all these upsets really, because towards the end of the year the players are tired and there are a lot more upsets.

At least you've got Andy. I have an Andy-Rafa final and I coudn't quite decide who to have as the winner, so randomly picked Nadal and thought that I'd come back later to maybe change it after giving it a bit of thought. Never got round to it though. :shamed:
You know, I've known for ages that the last 2 masters is where more muppeting and upsets happen than usual, yet despite this I keep insisting on picking the (apparently) 'safer' picks. I never learn do I?
You did exactly the same as me, Manaus. Picked all the 'sensible' picks without thinking what normally happens in the last few tournaments of the year. Though of course we might as well do that as we don't know which matches will be upsets.

Wish I'd picked Andy as the winner but thought 3 in a row would be tough, though at least I had him as a finalist. In a sense I didn't want to jinx him, not really surprising there wre more upsets here.
The bracket for Paris is now up. Deadline is on Monday at 10.00 am GMT.
weird how 5/6 Q are in the top half, it always seems to happen like that

Changed mine due to Nole not being 100% fit and Del Potro withdrawing.
Qualifiers haven't been placed yet but the draw including the qualifiers has been posted on the ATP site (http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2011/352/mds.pdf).
Hmm, do I change my entry now or wait to see if there are any more withdrawals?
Im trying to wait for qualifiers to be placed
I'm gonna wait too to see what they do about Delpo but you could place them yourself with a little effort...
ye will do, spotted your post after i posted:thumbup:
two GEM's meeting in the semi sacre bleu:yikes::yikes:
Me too - just changed my bracket and instead of having Nole v DelPo in the semi I have Tsonga v Monfils!
Me too - just changed my bracket and instead of having Nole v DelPo in the semi I have Tsonga v Monfils! :shocked:me to ,and tsonga v stan in pckem not sure which is worse
Haven't changed my pickem yet. Waiting to see if there are any more changes - but I have to do it tonight as I won't have time in the morning.
Delpo's replacement won't be announced until tomorrow, so no point in waiting any longer I suppose...
The Del Potro, Ferrer, Monfils section was a bit tricky. Had Del Potty in the end. Nearly had Monfils, as he has a good record in Paris, but just could not bring myself to pick a GEM even though he is on home territory.
Del Potro has withdrawn cazza

Thanks. Just found out as I was reading the tournament thread - and Nole a question mark so I have doubled back on Monfils again. :yikes:

22mins to go .....
lost the bang & BBC (tho both are 70% plus picks) but think picking the cabbage writer (at 17%)to beet youzny more than makes up for it
I understand bang but how is Benneteau BBC or am I being thick?
I'm on 3 out of 6 jsut below our leader on 4.
Aaaarrgh! I missed this and pick'em, was leaving them until this morning deliberately but work got in the way.
BBC is the Ball Bashing Canuck = Raonic.
Looking at the results today I think I may have got 5/6 so far (Raonic would def have let me down) but its hard to be sure once you know the results
I had him too. Easy seeing that it's the flip-flop tournament when you see who's leading our group...
seppi trying to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory:grrr:
I hope he succeeds, I stupidly picked Nikolai (and I knew I was being stupid when I clicked on him ).
up to 11th but tursonov looks like he is gonna ruin my run
Boo. I was doing well earlier in the day but it's all going wrong now.
Boo. I was doing well earlier in the day but it's all going wrong now.your 2nd in pickem
Was. I won't be when it's updated!
Yoo hoo gorillas! Couldn't wait for the qualies to be placed.........*sigh*......don't know why I bothered entering!
Well I have 8 wrong and 2 right and I am 10067th out of 11655 :rolling:
Tuesday's matches are as follows:
Round 1 matches
Llodra (30.1) v Lopez (69.9%)
Fognini (26.9%) v Dodig (73.1%)
Nishikori (94.6%) v Stakhovsky (5.4%)
Chardy (29.2%) v Granollers (71.8%)
Wawrinka (66%) v Isner (34%)
Monaco (85.9%) v Young (14.1%) (Young is a 44% pick in pickem!)
Round 2 Matches
Berdych (77.2%) v Verdasco (5.1%)
Roddick (73.5%) v Benneteau (2.3%)
Garcia-Lopez (not many) v Tsonga (99.1%)
Gasquet (69.7%) v Anderson (27.4%)
No dead matches for me here compared to pickem where I picked Raonic to overcome Roddick and the Berdych Verdasco match will now see me fighting myself as I went for Verdasco in pick em. Other than the Monaco v Young match the percentage picks are actually very similar to pickem
Llodra (30.1) v Lopez (69.9%)
Fognini (26.9%) v Dodig (73.1%)
Nishikori (94.6%) v Stakhovsky (5.4%)

Roddick (73.5%) v Benneteau (2.3%)dead
Garcia-Lopez (not many) v Tsonga (99.1%)
Gasquet (69.7%) v Anderson (27.4%)
more less the same except iv gone for foggi and had the BBC to beet arod,
and Dodig won so tough luck J
Berdbrain also made it so thats further stuffed my pickem but helped here
Floppy is a set up but Nishikori is a set down in the current matches.

Tuesday's results so far - winners in blue:
Round 1 matches
Llodra (30.1) v Lopez (69.9%)
Fognini (26.9%) v Dodig (73.1%)
Nishikori (94.6%) v Stakhovsky (5.4%)
Chardy (29.2%) v Granollers (71.8%)
Wawrinka (66%) v Isner (34%)
Monaco (85.9%) v Young (14.1%) (Young is a 44% pick in pickem!) Started at 6.30
Round 2 Matches
Berdych (77.2%) v Verdasco (5.1%)
Roddick (73.5%) v Benneteau (2.3%)
Garcia-Lopez (not many) v Tsonga (99.1%) Started at 6.30
Gasquet (69.7%) v Anderson (27.4%) Follows the Tsonga match
So to sum up round 1 going dreadfully but round 2 looks better so far although the Wawrinka loss in round 1 gives me a dead match
Fognini, Nishikori, Wawrinka and Granollers all let me down today

Gasquet has just beaten Anderson 6'4, 7'6. Tsonga also got through in 2 easy sets v Garcia-Lopez.

http://www.myemoticons.com/images/hobbies-leisure/adventure/bungy-jump.gifyou got a spare rope please ?
That's not a rope, it's a bungee! I'm not committing suicide yet . . .
. . . though having said that, it looks like one of my semifinalists is about to go out . . .
Here are today's matches with all the percentages I could find looking through most of our draws and would expect all the ones where I have not found anyone picking a player are picked by less than 5%
Roddick (??%) v Murray (90%)
Djokovic (85%) v Troicki (6%)
Seppi (??%) v Tsonga (94%)
Fish (49%) v Monaco (??%)
Gasquet (2%) v Federer (97%)
Isner (??%) v Lopez (??%) dead I had Wawrinka
Berdych (52%) v Tipsarevic (33%)
Ferrer (87%) v Dolgopolov (8%)
So the swing match of the day is Berdy v Tipsy and Fish v Monaco could make quite a difference if Fish wins and for our league I think the Djoko v Troicki is more of a swing match than the overall percentages suggest as quite a few have gone for Troicki

just a quick through the top 20 overall, and there isnt any andy v nole predictions apart from James so he could find him selve topping the leaderboard still a ways to go tho
Tsonga (38%) v Djokovic (59%)
Ferrer (36%) v Isner (??)
Federer (92%) v Monaco (??)
Murray (81%) v Berdych (??)
So unlike Pickem Djoko is the favourite to win against Tsonga and all the other 3 favourites are at lower percentages. However I think for our mini league Tsonga is likely to be the favourite as it took until the 8th persons draw I checked before I found our first Djoko picker
Tsonga (38%) v Djokovic (59%)
Ferrer (36%) v Isner (??)dead
Federer (92%) v Monaco (??)
Murray (81%) v Berdych (??)
