It's the dawning of the age of Andy. Definitely, definitely, definitely Andy's time. And for all the empty talk about Andy taking a while to get to the top, I wouldn't have it any other way. Cannot wait for 2017.

It became a bit close for comfort in the middle of the 3rd and Isner provided a challenge but was still confident Andy would find a way, he certainly showed his class when it was required, another great tournament, 14th Master title and 8th title this year- fantastic! In the circumstances this was an impressive performance and sure more big moments to come! Congratulations Andy!:clap::clap::clap::swingin::swingin::swingin:

Hats off to Isner though - he played brilliantly - he just blinked at the vital moment. Not an easy tournament for Andy - Verdasco, Berdych and Isner were all really difficult opponents but Andy showed his class.

Well played John Isner...you made our boy really earn it but of course he was well up to it. Completely different Isner to the one in Vienna. Sweaty palms 3rd set! Great match by Andy such a clever player, wore John out so that took the edge of his serve. Fantastic win for his 1st match as world no 1. Now needs to keep up with or ahead of Nole at the 02 to get the year ending title has 405 points to spare (2RRS)

Yes, brilliant! What a way to finish off! I was sure Andy would win but still had to remind myself every now and then. Remembered Sally having to remind me at DC too :) it's the big serving, it annoys me so much, no matter how well someone plays against them they're almost impossible to return!!

Great play from Isner...any other opponent would have gone under the way he was serving...but Andy found a way as has been his trademark recently.

What a match, so happy for Andy. Thought I was going to get a perfect FTM score when the second went to a tie break. Unfortunately the wrong player won it. Anyway, we got the win in the end!!!
John Isner is now the American #1 and played much better. So both he and Andy have achieved #1's this week.
Now have to go and search for videos of the presentation and speeches. Tennis TV in their wisdom decided we would sooner listen to them yapping than watch the speeches and presentation, even though an American was involved. Probably because he didn't win.
Heads up. Highlights of the match are on Sky Sports Mix (Free Channel) at 7pm today.
