Fortuitous or what? I (mistakenly) booked a non-cancelable room last week at Ibis Central Rive Droite and have been rather anxiously awaiting my fate or rather my card has. Can't believe my stupidity has been rewarded. Looks like it is an 18 minute walk from the venue.

According to Russel Fuller 5210 capacity although they had 15.900 watch the previous DC tie, under the 6k???? Does that mean only 520/530 Brits?

Tennisfan

Silverdee and I have also booked rooms in the Ibis Central Rive Droite - it was the nearest with available rooms last week. The 18 minute walk should be OK and removes the need for transport to and from the venue with the added wait/queues that often entails. Just keeping everything crossed for tickets! :nailbiter:

Have hotel Astrid booked and there's a few of us from the forum booked in there. Went for cheap and cheerful (non chain hotels always cheaper) but it has decent reviews.

As for tickets, unfortunately the other fan groups had many more people in Canada than us so I really hope that doesn't go against us ... I'm sure we will be offered tickets, it's how many tickets is the question. Not sure how many LTA will want to save for Joe public. At times like this they need to remember who the loyal fans are and who can make the most noise!

Fingers crossed everyone. Like Ghent, it will hopefully all work out ...

What time you at CDG?

I've booked flight from Edinburgh to CDG with Flybe Thursday 8.40 arriving at 11.30 and returning Monday 13.05. I've also looked at coaches in preference to trains so would be interested in sharing minibus if flights are reasonably compatible.

Caro
20-02-2017, 21:26
Might also be interested in sharing mini bus if flights compatible. 2 of us. Would Depend on price though as wouldn't want to pay more than cost of train ... I'm sure someone said it was only about £20 return on the train so if that's true, it would likely cost way more for a mini bus. All what about driving?? I wouldn't be up for driving :faint:

I was going to stay there, Maud, as they also offered breakfast. But, when I did a live web chat with the website, who were offering it, they didn't know if it was self service or not. They claimed they would contact the hotel and let me know. The next day, I found the price of the hotel had gone up and had to book the Sisley one. I then found the Sisley hotel is only 650 metres away from the cathedral.

I had another of my weird dreams, last night. It started off with us, sitting in the stadium, watching Sir Andy warming up against Tsonga. Then, it jumped to us standing outside, somewhere, drinking cocktails. We were wearing t-shirts which had Davis Cup Champions on them.

For ease of travel, did you know you can buy a book of 10 metro tickets in the Eurostar departure lounge? They are slightly more expensive than buying them at the metro station in Paris. If you buy in Paris ignore the queues at the ticket machines at the metro entrance and just walk further along into the station towards the entrance barriers where there are more machines with no queues.

My top travel tip is to have your travel aide memoire concealed in the palm of your hand. I once made the mistake, after getting off the Eurostar, of pausing on the station concourse to check my travel plan and was immediately accosted by a debonair young man jabbering away in French - unfortunately I knew it was not a chat-up line - so just swatted him away with my hand as you would a fly.

I haven't booked my Eurostar yet (and the price seems to be going up every day!) until I get tennis tickets (note the positive language here folks!) but once done I will post my train time and if anyone is apprehensive about travelling on the metro they are welcome to come along with me.

Myself and my sister, Tennisfan, have now finalised our battle campaign plans to secure DC tickets, code name 'Get Us In', and enlisted family and friends (woe betide anyone who steps out of line). Action takes place next Monday and Tuesday at 9.55 a.m.

Once on the FFT site look under the ticket prices, section 1 and click on the words in red - cliques ici - and you get taken through to the actual ticket booking page on Ticketmaster.

Thanks, l see it is asking for a code, do you have a code or where do you get it from

The code is the French tennis clubs code, which no-one here will have.

Rather stupid, the LTA telling everyone, who isn't a member, to apply through the French website then the website asking for a code which nobody in this country will have.

LTA have today confirmed that the colour to support GB in this time is Red. We didn't manage to get tickets for gb v France at queens so don't have any red. I guess it might be "make your own" time for some of us :)

Yes, and Sally has confirmed on DC info thread now. I thought as much.

I have my DC Final t-shirt which I bought in Ghent (I wanted one a bit different to the LTA ones) which is red so I can wear that. I also have a 'we are tennis' one in red which they gave away at Queens so I guess I'll wear that too (although I'd hate to be mistaken for one of them!). Other than that it will be UJ gear ..... just when we all have about 20 'Back The Brits' t-shirts :grrr:

And can you honestly see the LTA being organised enough to have Red back the brits Tees already to go?

I know! I thought mine were going to get another airing, though I suspected we would be asked to wear red as we were at Queens v France. Unfortunately, I don't 'do' red! so will be starting a new collection. Can't remember what I wore at Queens...must have been borrowed!

I tried the site at 5 to nine today, there was a queue to get in, it tells you how many are in front of you and also said you have 60 minutes to buy tickets once you are in. There were Steps on sale, not sure who else (no I didn't buy any, i just tested as far as putting tickets in my basket) but this post to warn people to try before 10am to see if a queue has formed Good Luck forumistas!

Don't think it works n Ticketmaster. It certainly doesn't for Wimbledon. You will either be told whether you are lucky or not.

I have ordered a red t-shirt with a Union Jack and the words 'Team GB' on the front, from Amazon. There wasn't a photo of the back but as it's an official 2012 Olympics shirt that's probably what it's got!

Are we taking our cowboy hats to Rouen?

Linda
11-03-2017, 15:36
As I'm driving, I might take mine.

This morning I got a call from Helen (who we met in Ottawa). She had booked the Hotel Astrid through hotel.com, back when it was first announced that it was Rouen. But she's had an email from them saying that her booking has been cancelled. She phoned them up and they said it's because the hotel is full. She pointed out that she booked it ages ago and has a printed confirmation, but they said there was nothing they could do. So she phoned the hotel direct. They said that she couldn't have booked it through hotel.com as they don't deal with them! They said they do deal with various others such as booking.com (phew, I booked it through them) and Expedia. They said the hotel was full for those dates, but after a bit of wheedling from her they managed to find a room.

So if anyone else booked it through hotel.com, it might be best to check that the booking is OK.

Good Helen was somehow able to get a room at Hotel Astrid, despite the hassle. I'm not going now anyway, however I had also originally booked Hotel Astrid via Hotels.com and found out it was cancelled the next day. I got contradictory messages with one saying hotel was full and the other stating problem with card, however at that point it did seem to be full on all sites.

Teresa

My growliness, combined with relentless persistence has worked. They realised I wasn't going to go away, so have found me a room. The hotel has confirmed it. Will avoid Hotels.com in the future.

Thanks for the heads up.

Seems a split layout for British fans, guess blocks R & S are the benches side and G the other side.

I don't understand why they split up the GB supporters. Surely it would have a greater impact if it was one big noisy block, or maybe that's the whole point .... the French want to reduce our impact!

I think the trouble is that they want half and half behind the players, which is usual but the venue is so small that then there aren't enough seats behind the GB bench to cover the allocation. The corners would be a different catagory.

Caro - I noticed there were some problems listed on here with rooms at the Astrid, was everything ok with your room? We booked through booking.com and it hasn't come up with any problems but I'm wondering if I should contact the hotel

I would check. The main problems seem to be with Hotels.com. However it seems as though though the hotel decided to close a lot of the rooms for refurbishment, and some of the cancellations haven't got through. Mind you I got several different versions of events. What riled me was the fact, if a I hadn't checked I would be non the wiser, and would have turned up, only to be sent away. With my mobility difficulties that freaks me out.

I am keeping my other booking just in case there are problems for someone else.

My advice would be for anyone booked into the Hotel Astrid to check the booking.

That comes out to about 800 seats. I wonder if there will be some French as well in those blocks.
