Day 3 was yet another really great Wimbledon day. Sets up a great Friday! I have booked the same seat as I had today to do it all again! I very reluctantly will have to miss a good bit of tomorrow (sorry Kyle), but I need to drag myself to Portstewart where our golf club is hosting the Irish Open. (I stuck a wee post on the golf thread about it!!). However, today's results will keep me going till Friday! Some fascinating results....Pouille gone, Keith challenged, a marathon Muller match and Marcus and Jay win a 5 setter doubles! Pure heaven!
And I forgot....Medvedev also gone and then there is Foggy!! And less talk about Andy's hip! Yay!

What great matches :) Andy's was perfect! Would love to see Friday's but we will be on our way to Rome.....unfortunately just too late to watch with a room full of Italians!

Will be checking scores on wifi after that.

Looking forward to tomorrows match, just in case there are some shocks......

Great day for British tennis, all 4 won in singles, 5th winners were Jay & Willbomb just half of a defeat (Kyle and Sousa). Not often we win that many more than we loose, in fact i'm struggling to remember such a string of winners!

Not forgetting (WC) Scott Clayton and Jonny O'Mara who won by retirement but had taken the first set and were on serve in set 2.

Been busy so a bit late with this, but just wanted to say that on Monday l had a lovely day at Wimbledon with a ticket for Centre Court thanks to help from Carole (Themass15) it was on my tick list to watch a match live at Wimbledon on CC, so it was extra special to be able to do this with Andy coming out to play as defending champion :trophy: l had a great day sitting in the sunshine watching Andy in a stress free match eating strawberries and cream :strawberry: and drinking a glass of Pimms:wino:.......this was Wimbledon so it had to be done !!!! Did go to Herman Hill to see if could see anyone else from the forum, but didn't have any luck, so it was good to see from a distance Supergran cheering Andy :cheer: could also see JerryD and Kev, it was a really lovely day something l will remember and talk about for a long time :big grin::big grin:

Gulbis needed to win in 3 sets as he looked exhausted towards the end of the 3rd set. Not a great effort from Del Potro. All good news for Djokovic.

Didn't see any of Delpo/Gulbis but certainly looks like it'll be far easier for Djokovic, good win for Gulbis though looks like Juan had chance to turn it around.

Two players I really like battling it out; Dom and Gillou. Simon took first set 7-5. Thiem 3-2 with a break in 2nd. Could be a long one.....

Unfortunately, I can see it being a Federer v Nadal final. Seen Fed twice live and Rafa on TV. They both look awesome. Djokovic won't probably be tested until he gets to semis. Cilic could prove awkward for Rafa, or Raonic for Fed if they all make quarters. Andy on paper should defo reach semis.

Josephine

Spot on Rosiebear. After seeing Rafa on Friday I thought he looked very hard to beat - I would make him favourite. Have only seen Fed on TV but looking good too. Djoko I have hardly watched but saw a bit of Gulbis match and think his swagger and confidence are pretty much back.

Andy looks like he is hanging on. The skill is there but a bit of belief and accuracy (and fitness?) missing. He really was limping between points. He says it is how he walks - but I've not seen it like that so much before - think he is downplaying it all a bit. Still he may surprise us all - let's hope so.

Rafa beat Muller at Wimbledon in 2011, so they're 1-1- on grass. It was straight sets in 2011 but first 2 sets were tight tiebreaks. H2H is 5-1 in Nadal's favour but the times Muller has really troubled Rafa including getting his sole win have been on grass......fingers crossed everyone :peace::peace:.

Muller proving a handful for Nadal but still some work to do, he hadn't really been tested much up to now and Giles could have the pedigree. Rafa getting the chance now though and breaks for 3-1 so interesting phase. Raonic had broken back for 3 all against Sacha and Berdy break up at 4-2 in possibly pivotal 3rd set.

It's daft to have so many matches on one day - at most you can try to keep up with 2 but loads of interesting things happening that hardly exist as far as BBC and Sue are concerned. That's not their fault but couldn't one person say it's not great for the fans to have so many top matches at the same time?

I know Wimbledon cannot change because of Sunday off - but it could at least be mentioned.

Nadal turning it around now with that break and don't think Muller's chances will be great in the 5th,however at least a tough work out. Berry also has break at 3-1 in the 5th,Theim needs to step up now! Fairly tight 1st set but Fed running away with the 2nd, hoped for more from Dimi! Sacha break at 4-3 in 3rd.

Groan. It's so sad that Dimi could end up with the loathsome 'best player never to win a slam' tag. He's wonderful to watch but he can't play the big points. He reminds me so much of Nando - fluctuates between too much and too little on the big points. Just can't gauge it. I hope he finds a coach who fits with him they way Lendl fits with Andy, the way Magnus Norman fits with Stan, then it may just happen for him.
