I don't think a little belief is misplaced in this context. Andy's getting better with each match (and practice, apparently), which is obviously preferable to peaking too soon and having everyone rave about you in the first week a la Rafa. Andy has stated that he feels fine, his movement, the foundation of his game, has looked terrific, and we know what a grass master Andy is, plus his record against conventional big servers is superb so there's every reason to feel great about this match up. So I'm firmly not in the "or not" camp.:) Good luck Andy, willing you on every step as per. :GBflag::GBflag::GBflag:

It was only the reply to the rather blunt assumption, not a comment on Andy at all.:)
Andy has a good chance to win, but nothing can be taken for granted.

Andy is favourite and making his serves and returns will be important for him to come out well on top. Andy has a good record against not just Sam but all big servers. Hoping he will be second on centre after another epic raonic Federer match
Andy will be first on Centre Court tomorrow.
Andy on Centre! Hallelujah!

I love these Andy late nighters. But Fed gets top billing. Guess they see his as closer match. Plus it is Fed...
Andy has played "first" all fortnight, technically...
Josephine
11-07-2017, 17:58
Don't think that is the reason by this stage.

I wonder if Djokovic is annoyed at being on no.1 again? His ego would most likely want him to be on Centre, but he wasn't impressed with the state of the court on Centre today

Yay both Andy and Roger on centre court mean easier to follow them instead try follow same time if one on court 1 same time.
You know what? I bet Andy has plenty of say in the scheduling. He's been on centre so far and my guess would be be likes to get home for some family time with Sophia and his pregnant wife who probably appreciates a lending hand!
The Very, Very Best of Luck Andy!!!:thumbup:
Luck wont come into it hopefully , Andy will be the better player! Nothing worse than a bad call or suchlike changes the course of the whole match.
Looking forward already to a Federer-Murray final !

Because Djokovic played Tuesday his match had to be second Wednesday. Which meant the match providing the opponent for the winner of Djokovic's also had to be second. Otherwise there would have been complaints that Djokovic / Berych opponents were being given an unfair advantage.
Good luck Andy! I should be able to see this!

Film of Andy on BBC Breakfast practicing yesterday showed him really limping badly.
God, not what I wanted to read this morning!
All the best Andy! Play well and get the W. :) :boogie:
Just watched Andy practicing on Wimbledon site, was moving well and the walk in between points was the same as it was on Monday. There seems to be a lot of scaremongering by the press, often showing his walk at the start of the tournament.
Andy was pleased with his movement on Monday, so I will go with him.

Cmon Muzz!
Three break points for Andy.
I wonder if the top of Andy's notes on Querrey is, don't get broken. ;)
I think the crowd on Court 12 were more nervous about missing this match. As soon as the first set was over, they all got up and left.

Its colder here in Lincolnshire than the forecast, wind quite strong. Andy seems to be doing better on serve, still a way to go but Im reasonably happy so far.

Querrey holds to love. 5-3
Good start Andy! I wasn't nervous about this match for some reason. I was much more nervous about the Fognini match beforehand, and boy was I proved right there!
First set to Andy :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Well, the nerves hit - Andy knows if he goes 2 sets up he's (pretty much) home and dry, he got tight - but can't cry over spilt milk. Time to knuckle down and do it in 4 - which would still be mighty impressive - this is a Wimbledon QF after all.
"King of the Lobs". 40-15
Love hold, Andy serving for placement. 4-2
Ace & Querrey holds to love. 4-3

Absolutely agree - which is why he is so nervous I think.
This is hard to watch. Andy's got to force himself to feel the fear and do it anyway, as they say. Be brave Andy, you can do it!
It's not just tension. If you look at his shots he's not setting up to get enough power in his ground strokes and he's at least half a step slow. Really think he's struggling with the hip.
4-1 - hold these two Andy pleeeeeease!
It's not just tension. If you look at his shots he's not setting up to get enough power in his ground strokes and he's at least half a step slow. Really think he's struggling with the hip.
Absolutely - he's not getting up on his serve either. Which is why I think he's so tense - he knows he doesn't have all his usual tools at his disposal.
Rats! C'mon - this one..............

He's playing through the pain which, hopefully, will make him just that bit more cussid and difficult to beat. Hold this service convincingly Andy - come on now !!
I am not coping with this at all. Don't really know why. Well done AM.
JAMES4578
12-07-2017, 14:09
Given some help from Querrey and tense moments 6-1 become 6-4 , however Andy does enough to close it out. All does not seem well psychically so hopefully no slip ups in the 4th-let's go!
roytennisfan
12-07-2017, 14:09
What an unbelievably tense set that was. Getting fed up of people saying excuse me. The hill is packed, we're on the middle on the flat bit level with the screen

Anyway, hopefully keeps composed about whatever is bothering him and gets the win today :peace:

Well that wasn't the end of the set or nerves. He's not fit. Even if he pulls this one out, looks difficult ahead.
Come on Andy - break back!
JAMES4578
12-07-2017, 14:14
Certainly a bit concerned now as Querrey breaks to love as Andy struggled there-hope he can get back in this set!

Well, he's struggling at the beginning of this one.
Ok, I wasn't at all nervous ... but I sure am now!! :hide:
I feel this is Querrey's to lose now ................... and it could go very quickly unless something suddenly changes for Andy. We've seen him play through the pain before, of course.
Decision whether to let this set go now given Querrey's serve. 1-4

If Andy can continue, there is also the problem of no tie break in the fifth - where Andy could have made an extra effort.
Mmm... c'mon Andy!

Interesting that Andy has lost all of his five set matches apparently since last year
It is definitely his hip. I walked just like him and could not reach up move properly and , of course, Sam can take advantage. He cannot have a medical timeout as it is pre-existing. I am just delighted he got this far. Just hope Djokovic does not win the whole thing.
Mac is a prize plonker - anyone with half an eye and half a brain can see that Andy is injured. It's a golden opportunity for Querrey and, quite honestly, it would be an absolute disaster for him if he were to lose it from here.
