Delpo obviously couldn't keep up the effort. Poor chap has done this so many times - got rid of big threats but not quite able to make it to the end.
Rafa was fresh having had a doddle to the semi.
Go Kevin! Not much chance I guess...
:tennis: Good Luck Kevin!!! :tennis: .... Please!!:)
Vamos Rafa!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :pirate:

Blimey if Rafa stands any further back to receive serve he'll be treading on the linesperson's toes. Glad to see Kev isn't overwhelmed by the experience of a 1st GS final
Just keeping holding Kevin and you'll get a chance to break.

Kevin was hanging tough but Nadal finally breaks for 4-3 and seems to be on his way.
It's not lost til it's won - a long way to go yet!

Hope Kev can mount fightback but Nadal is looking pretty dominant and feel he'll need more free points to make an impact, his weapons being bunted.
If Kev could get more first serves in..........

Poor Kev, he's such a skinny guy & Rafa such a chunky tank. Rafa will keep battering away all night. Hope Kevin can hold him off & fightback :peace:

Blargh. Really don't enjoy the brutality of Rafa's game. Hang in there Kevin :cheer:

For the first time in like forever of watching slam finals I might call it a day - I can only tolerate watching Rafa's gross pant pulling when I feel there's a chance he might lose. Best of luck for the rest of the match, Kev.
Well I guess it was a big ask, but Well Done Kevin on getting to the US Open Final!! Kudos Rafa!!!
Congratulations Rafa. :bravo:
Well done Kevin on reaching the final.

Stuck it out in the end. Rafa  And well done lovely Kevin, great to be a finalist and get a big pay day. So 2 slams apiece for Fed and Rafa this year, and only one slam finalist aged under 30. Every reason to feel great about Andy's next few years.
Well good for Rafa I guess , gets him closer to Roger
but pretty disappointing final !!
And we reach the inevitable conclusion. Not a final which will ever stick out in my mind. But there was one thing I admired about Kev and that was his attitude throughout. He always looked positive, lots of fist pumping and didn't seem to let the occasion get to him. I'm sure a fortnight ago he wouldn't have expected to have been in a GS final so I thought he handled it very well.
Usually after a slam finishes I am bereft for a few days. Not this time. I don't mind at all that it's over. I look forward to the Asian swing, but more than anything, it's the next slam I really anticipate when I hope it's business as usual for us all here!;)

Whilst not the best finale much as I expected, Nadal was strong and didn't think Kevin would have enough to really challenge him-still Anderson stuck to the task and didn't get negative when he was up against it. Congrats to Rafa on 16th slam and Well done Kevin on reaching final but the bottom half of the draw was weaker with absences and upsets.

It was certainly not the greatest final but Kevin played some great points. I think this US Open will be remembered on the whole for being the least predictable for many years. Let us hope there will be a full complement of the best players in January!

If it's not Andy winning and if it's one of the 'big 4', then for me it's best it's Rafa and if he can win more slams and take over as the GOAT, then that would make me laugh. So not so bad. Pant pulling however is just plain weird.

Gave up watching after Rafa broke in the third set. There was only ever going to be 1 winner in that match. Let's hope Rafa goes on to finish the year as No. 1

Watched some of it - on fast forward a lot of the time.
Well done Rafa but he benefited from all the withdrawals, an easy draw, Delpo being exhausted and an opponent a class below in the final.
All rather boring. I've had enough of Rafa, Fed, or Novak celebrations.
I didn't watch a single match at this year's US Open. Just not remotely interested without AM. Pleased Jamie won the Mixed, but so bored of Federer and Nadal.

I didn't enjoy the US Open nearly as much without Andy but I was a tennis fan long before Andy arrived on the scene and, hopefully, will continue to be a long time after he stops playing.
Radio five live did the commentary on it, but I fell asleep after Rafa won the second set. Hope for Andy, as Russell Fuller said Kevin Anderson had the same problem.
I confess I didn't watch it after the first set. The writing was on the wall by then and it was a pretty boring slugfest anyway.

Well done Rafa, one step closer to Fed :bravo:
my favourite part was remembering 5 years earlier!
Say it with an anagram. ;)
The 2017 tennis year has been a slip of kittenish gin. :p
