The only good thing is it wasn't Andy with that scoreline.

Yep better for Andy to have lost to Berdy in 3 close sets than to have been thumped by the Fed. :thanks: for cheering me up.

Oh well it's all up to Jo-Wilfried now.

yes, that's the silver lining. Much as I expected really, doubted Berdy would be in the same form today though has to be said Fed serve was more of a weapon than Andy's yesterday. Just hope Tsongs comes through and can at least put Roger under some pressure.

Well, don't like either of them and Fed was obviously at an advantage over Berdy after his long match against Andy.

I'm afraid to say that I think that Ol' Rog is gonna win the title :( Would love for Jo to get it done but it looks like FedError's all the way.

One consolation: the commentators were giving stats (which naturally I can't remember in detail - I can barely remember my own name!) but the gist of it was that is a VERY long time since the person who won Paris also won the year-end Masters Cup/WTF.

I wouldn't trust Fed not to beat the stats, though. He seems in pretty good form.

Jo still hasn't broken the Isner serve and it's into a tie-breaker in the 2nd set.

If Isner wins he's into the Final; Jo has to really play this very well to have a hope of winning.

Fab win for Jo and certainly dramatic in the closing stages! Just hope he will indeed have the energy to really challenge Fed!

With the crowd behind him, Jo-Willy definitely has a chance to win this. He'll have to find that super-aggressive style of play to do it, though.

I hope the crowd cheers the roof off at Bercy for them!!!

OK, just done my FTM and took a flyer on Jo winning it.

I think Roger will be very determined to finally get this particular Masters title since it's one that's eluded him so far. He's had a relatively easy passage to the Final and not expended much energy winning his 4 matches so far in 2 sets.

Jo has only played 3 matches; R2 and R3 were easy 2 set wins. He got a W/O in the 1/4's so had an extra day off but had a long 3-setter yesterday in the Semi. I rather wish it had been the other way around and wonder whether the 3hrs on court yesterday will be his downfall today.

The H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=T786&oId=F324) is 5-3 but Jo-Willy has been getting the measure of Roger recently.
He may well be soooo fired up from yesterday that he just keeps rolling.

The match is scheduled for 2pm UK time.

This sounds more negative about him than I normally like to be, but the fact is Federer has had to wait until Bercy, with Rafa out and Nole withdrawing, to make his first Master's Final of the Year!

Doesn't matter one iota. Was the same when Andy won Shanghai - doesn't invalidate his achievement either.

The fact is that the top 4 are a class above the rest of the tour, so should be favourite to beat anyone else.

Well done to Roger. Deserved winner. And a popular one too, judging by the crowd reaction.

13-11-2011, 16:09
Well done to Fed! Another record for him reaching the final of all the Masters series. :trophy:

Jo is interesting to watch but too inconsistent - he definitely had his chances today and players like Andy/Nole/Rafa would have taken them by being a little more patient. But that's just not Jo's style.

Fed deserves this title though, he's played the best tennis all week. :)

JAMES4578
13-11-2011, 16:32
Well Fed was in form this week and the deserved winner today but a disappointing final really. Tsonga got off to such a slow start and whilst he got some momentum going in the 2nd just couldn't make the breakthrough and the start of the breaker was a bit of a disaster for him! Jo can be a bit streaky and maybe doesn't always play smart tennis but is often exciting to watch! Of course Fed didn't meet anyone in the top 5 which is significant when some commentators say he is playing as well as ever, with more of a test he may not seem so impressive. However, we can probably guage all the top players more effectively at the O2.

Alis
13-11-2011, 17:32
Well, even by his own admission, Fed didn't play well against Pico and if he had been playing Fish he may well not have got through. However, he was the better player today and, much as it pains me to say it, deserved the victory. It will be very interesting to see how the big 4 perform against one another at the 02. Federer seems to be injury free - it remains to be seen whether or not the others are.

Fed won Paris fair and square so well done to him. Looking forward to the WTF now where hopefully Andy is 100% ready to continue the awesome form he's shown for the past few months.
