Hi All

The next DC tie will again be held at Braehead Arena in Glasgow.

A great chance to see Andy and the lads play again in the UK and hopefully go one step further to reaching the World Group in Davis Cup.

We don't yet have all the details but it's likely to be a repeat of arrangements for last time and I'll confirm as soon as possible.

So, approx £45 for a group booking 3day ticket with daily starting times possibly:-
Friday 3pm
Saturday 2pm
Sunday 1pm.

Please advise a.s.a.p. if you are interested in joining us in a block booking.

For now I'm only going to reserve 33 seats which is about the same as last time but I'm already aware of a few people who cannot come in February.

Thanks

Pity about that Pat, realise it may be problematic. I hope all those who can't make it this time will be able to join us again in the near future.

Hoping to be able to get to this one, not sure yet though. Just in case people are booking the travelodge it appears if you can book now you could get the saver rates in the sale BUT you can only book one night at a time so could have to check out each day. Having said that I just checked prices and for 3 nights (arrive Thursday night) booking separately costs £68 compared with £126!

Edit: Going to gamble that I can get time off work so have booked hotel, can you add Rob and I to the block booking list please, all 3 days :)

Travelodge is currently £29 per night for a double or family room (non-refundable!) if you book now. That's pretty good value tbh.

Yep. At 4pm today they still had the £29/night offer available.
Factor in an event at Braehead and now the only deal is £41/night.

If anyone is thinking of going who hasn't been before, maybe worried about going alone, have a read of my blog from the tie in September - you will have a wonderful time!

Braehead yet again? This is ridiculous, it's so unfair to those of us in the far south. :sad:tell that to ,people who have to travel to queens, Wimbledon, WTF from all over the country
thats just tennis,London also gets most internationals in footy, rugby etc. seems fair enough to give the DC a more central home

I have had such a nightmare trying to book Travelodge online. It is usually so simple but I kept being directed to pages I didn't want. Had to change password then it wasn't recognised!! Changed it again and same thing happened.:grrr::grrr: In the end booked by phone which cost me £1 extra.

I wish I could join you all but Mum in Law, who is our main babysitter will still be undergoing treatment for cancer in Feb. Hoping & praying that by May 2012 she will get all clear. That would be wonderful ! So maybe we could make next tie, as that would mean all is well again in our family, which would be a great relief! I would love to come along with my husband, he loved it at the World tour finals last year & I would love him to experience DC.

Hi all

haven't been on here yet as life has been very busy with sadly clearing not one but two family homes, which seems to be taking up the whole year! I can't believe it's Braehead AGAIN, and will have to have a think as to whether we can make the trip. I know Kate will come if I do, but Friday is a problem with school for Nick and it seems silly not to come for all three days when it is so far. Well, I'll stop rambling and will let you know Sally as soon as I make a decision (if I'm not too late already?!)

:hug:Sorry to hear that - I know exactly how you feel as it's taking months to clear my mum's house, which has been the family home for over 40 years - and my dad never threw ANYTHING away that "might come in useful". I can't imagine what it must be like to do two at once.

Thank You, Sallydaisy! This is my very FIRST post on the forum.....I heard about it from Caro, who I was SO lucky to sit beside (last minute ticket became available!) at the DC Sunday in September at Braehead. I would dearly LOVE to join the group again, in February, if you don't mind having a 'newbie' in your midst??!! If possible can you book me in for the three days?
Just heard that Andy has had to pull out of Basel with a leg injury....let's hope it's nothing serious, he has been on top form recently. Hopefully see you all in February...looking forward to it already!

Sorry. I've PM'd Sally. The reason is that I'll be going on holiday on the Sunday - my flight leaves early Sunday morning. At least I'll be able to watch Friday and Saturday on TV/internet, so hopefully we'll have won by then! I've been wanting to go on this particular winter sports holiday for a while and there are only a few departures - it's not a holiday that happens every week - and of those few, that was the only week that fitted in with work.

Ah well - I'll let you off then and ENJOY!! Is it skiing - never tried that myself - would be guaranteed to break something! Mind you I could probably cope with just the apres ski. Oops - off topic :getcoat:

Linda
16-11-2011, 20:32
It's a general taster of winter sports - skiing (both downhill, which I've done before, and cross country), snowboarding, snowshoeing and dogsledding. Of course I was supposed to do dogsledding on the Hurtigruten cruise but it was cancelled due to bad weather, so I hope I'll be able to do it this time! I'm not too keen on the sound of snowshoeing - like a long walk with two tennis racquets stuck to your feet! But no doubt it will burn a few calories so it's all good.

We go on a skiing holiday every March break. I've also tried snowshoeing when I was at the winter Olympics. Snowboarding is really hard I believe. Dogsledding sounds AWESOME! I'm sure you'll enjoy all of them. Where are you going?

I'll probably get the DC tickets end of this week and hope to send them out w/c 16th January or before. I have most folks addresses but will PM/email new peeps/others if I'm missing any.

Please be aware that those who've booked 3-day tickets are likely to be seated in different places in the block each day to make sure that you have chance to chat to different forum folk. I'm know who needs aisle and disabled seating already and one or two who've requested sitting by others and I'll do my best to accommodate them. Obviously if you're a pair or 3 you'll be kept together - unless I hear otherwise!!!

Could you post mine please Sally? Won't be arriving till Friday morning so saves you having to wait outside the arena. There is a fair chance that Gill may not be able to make it so her tickets may be going spare. I don't know for sure yet - her other half has had a nasty ski accident and is in hospital in France ...

Sure, will be posting out next week ......

I'm really sorry to hear about Gill but will wait to hear from you before doing anything about tickets ...
I don't have a 'wait' list as yet.

Hope Gill's other half will be OK! Starting to feel a bit left out now - though it's my own decision - couldn't get that same holiday any other week  (Hope I don't also have an accident on the slopes! :sofa:)

Thanks Passionanda - and yes I've got the address.
Unfortunately there aren't any TM t's left for sale.
If you've got a blue top that'd be good!!

Thanks to everyone for the goodwill wishes for Gill. Her Steve is still in hospital in France - he is working hard in physio but it is a nasty fracture so will take time. They are just waiting to be allocated a flight to get him home and are both fed up of waiting, they are very eager to get back to the UK as you can imagine!

Good news for Gill and Steve! Air ambulance now booked for tomorrow ... poor Gill however has to drive their car home on her own which will take her 2 days!! At least they will now be home very soon. Hoping he will be taken to my hospital so he will have to put up with me visiting every day!

I have passed on all the good wishes and Gill was very touched. They are both home safe, well Steve still in hospital but near home rather than France!!

Gill is still hoping to make DC which I must confess I thought would be out of the question but she was so looking forward to it and Steve is keen for her to go, so .... watch this space.

Hi all, a combination of too many late nights over the AO and some work to do mean I've not yet sent out the tickets. I'm knee deep in accounts prior to finalising my tax return by tomorrow (uh, yep, leaving it all a bit late...). So, the tix will be sent on Wed/Thursday latest ...
Apologies for the delay and thanks to those of you who've said you're happy to get them off me at Braehead.

Wish we could collect ours at Braehead, but we'll be arriving just before the first match on Friday, so we need ours to be posted.

Been following the news of Gill and Steve.....never met them but really feel for them both! What a thing to happen.
So sorry we won't see Andy next week (I believe he's gutted because he really enjoys playing DC)
Still looking forward to Braehead and meeting up with you all.......and seeing you again, Caro!

TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE BOOKED TICKETS FOR DAVIS CUP AT BRAEHEAD

If anyone thinks they might not now come to DC please let me know by PM by 3pm Wed 1st Feb.
I am busy working and cannot guarantee to spot any notes left in this thread.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you now all know Andy has decided not to play at this tie. He's picked up a back injury and needs to rest up; not an easy decision for him to miss DC but he needs to take care of himself. I imagine it must be bad enough to make serving and stretching for shots a problem or he wouldn't have pulled out of DC at all.
Disappointing but we'll survive won't we?
:grouphug:

I had done the seating plan and was planning to get the tickets out tomorrow.
There is still time to change it so please PM me to advise if there is anything I need to know.
PM's will be treated in strictest confidence

If you decide you're not going to come along we cannot guarantee that you'll get any money back. This would only happen if others decided last minute they DID want to join us. It's preferable that we 'advertise' spare seats via the forum but if you find someone to take unwanted tickets please PM me with their details.

Great shame Andy won't be playing; perhaps if he's still in Scotland he'll be 'on the bench' cheering the team on just as we shall be!!!
Can't beat the atmosphere at Davis Cup!

I quite agree! Obviously I'm disappointed Andy won't be playing, but you can never be sure who will play Davis Cup, as you generally buy the tickets quite a bit in advance, and seeing Andy is not the only reason I go.

Like you said Caro, the atmosphere at Davis Cup is amazing, and meeting up with forum folk is always great fun, so I'm still really looking forward to it - and I hope that's the same for everyone who's going! Even if (hopefully not!) the tennis is rubbish, the atmosphere & the craic is second to none!

Go Team GB!!

I agree too Caro & KO - can't wait to see everyone again - love the atmosphere - and obviously picking the doubles day to go this time was deliberate ... ;) .... even if Andy had been playing, I wouldn't have seen him .... but I won't miss Ross & Colin :big grin:
