:crying:
Great run for Cam though - he should be very proud.
Please could they find a way for neither player to win the final??

It'll be one of the very rare times when I'll be cheering for Novak.

Feeling quite ambivalent about the Men's Final. Not really fussed about who wins, so long as it is an entertaining match. Would like Ons to win the Ladies' Final - just love her style of play & lovely personality

on bbc, Mcenroe says Rybakina is Russian (she switched to Kazakhstan in 2018). Does that make him German ? No because his parents are American. She may be of Russian birth but she represents Kazakhstan now. He ought to know better.

Novak was almost completely in control of the rallies. Nick served great but it still wasn't quite enough

Got to admire Novak today, handled everything Nick threw at him, both in the rallies and all the other antics. Somebody ought to remind Nick not to swear in front of Royalty, and to remove your cap when shaking hands with a lady, especially a member of the Royal family.

It was quite an enjoyable match but i just find Nick so uncouth and Novak seemed like a grown-up next to him. He just put his head down and got on with it in a professional, experienced manner. Didn't want him to get another grandslam but all in all that was marginally better than Kyrgios winning.

Sort of related given it's a photo of Nole heading to the Champions Dinner ...
... but what is Jelena wearing? And her slippers? High Fashion apparently ...

Well that's that over and I never thought I wouldn't care  I never thought I would mind this much when Andy wasn't playing but it just felt so unfair that Isner had to play like that for one match! I'll never want him to win a match again! I wanted anyone but Nole to win but can't really believe all that Nick got away with and also Zorba in their match. Just when I thought the fortnight couldn't get worse :maggie: died :crying:

Ok I've just realised that's the most miserable post I've ever written (I hope) :rolling: and I'm not even drinking!

I'm off to find out if Newport Tennis is on Prime....... if it isn't :wino:

She was wearing a pink dress with puffed up sleeves for the match. Is it the same one?????

Cam doing well - 2 sets and a break up in a very satisfying dog fight against Tommy Paul.

So pleased that Goffin has come through a 5 set epic against Tiafoe. He'll play the winner of Cam's match.

Sinner putting young Alcaraz firmly in his place on the grass (can't watch tho, because it should be Andy providing the schooling )

I haven't seen Pat Lowe on here, very unusual as she loves her tennis especially Wimbles. Hope you're okay Pat, miss you :grouphug:

Edit: And that's Cam into the QFs - brilliant performance. He's tough as nails these days, mentally and physically. He'll have a good chance against a softened up Goffin. Go Cam!

Glad to hear Pat Lowe is fine and going to Wimbledon tomorrow, l was also wondered why she hasn't been on the forum for a while

RB and Jackie, thank you so much. I really appreciate that and am now feeling so guilty! All good here. Although I haven't been on here for a while, I've missed you all and think about everyone constantly. I have gained so much since I first came on here, finding fellow Andy supporters was the best thing ever, and I will always remain eternally grateful. I apologise for the lack of communication. My bad. I've just returned from Wimbledon where we had #1 court tickets last Monday. We had fabulous seats and the weather was perfect, not too hot. I found the second Monday very diluted, think I prefer the old 'manic Monday'! But we saw Rybakina, and were very impressed. Didn't think then she would be the champion though! Also very impressed with Taylor Fritz, esp his serve. Feeling a bit low now that it's all over, but the good news is Andy is playing tomorrow. He'll soon show Querrey who the better player is methinks! Now to go and catch up here, I've a lot of reading to do! :grouphug:

For me it was still an enjoyable Wimbledon championships (though obviously hoped Andy would do better), thought the Men's final was pretty good though felt it was pretty predictable that Djokovic would outclass Kygrios in the end. I also watched Rybakina as well as Jabeur in the semis (my first live tennis in 3 years). Felt at the weekend it was too hot in London (though was not at the tennis then) but glad I'll escape the extreme temperatures expected this Sunday/Monday.

I presume it might be appropriate, but on the 29th of this month (September), Sue Barker's autobiography called Calling the Shots comes out. I wonder how much, in the book, will be about Wimbledon.
