Does anyone know if the Wimbledon ballot for 2012 has been drawn yet??

Sallydaisy
08-02-2012, 17:32
Hello Gallacher - welcome to the forum.

The ballots are drawn sometime this month but the Wimbledon page, on this subject (http://aeltc2011.wimbledon.com/tickets/ballot/index.html), doesn't way when.

"STEP FOUR
There will be ballots taking place from February 2012 until the week before The Championships. If you are successful, you will be informed by post from February 2012 until June 2012."

It's this sub-forum that we normally discuss tickets for events so I'll close the other thread you started as this where we have tournament and player threads.

Hope you enjoy coming here and getting to know everyone.

Hi Gang. been away from this Board for a while but saw the headline Wimbledon 2012. Ballot is coming out either next Monday, 13th or following Monday, 20th according to the Ticket Office. As the website is not yet set up, I am more inclined to think it will be the following week.

Thanks for the information - I'm sure there's quite a few people crossing fingers they'll be lucky.

I forgot to send off my form as well, but in all the years I've sent it off I've only got tickets once. I think I stand more chance in my club ballot - have only been in the ballot 2 years but got tickets last year. Am intending to camp anyway.

Did enter the ballot but am only off work the 2nd week of Wimbledon this time as I'm taking a week for the olympics and we're not allowed more than 2 weeks in the summer. Wonder what the chances are I'll be offerred tickets when I can't go!

I know Liz Curran (on twitter) has already been offered tickets but for court 3. I think they do the ballot for those tickets a week before the rest. At least, that's what happened last year.

I believe first ballot proper is going out this weekend so successful applicants should know Monday/Tuesday. Traveller 7 first time applicants are often successful so good luck!

Welcome to the forum Emma!
:welcome:

2nd Monday at Wimbledon is brilliant because it's the last 16 (R4) for both Ladies and Mens Singles.
They usually spread those 16 matches over the 5 main show courts - Centre, Court 1, Court 2, Court 3 and Court 18 - and mix up the ladies and mens across them all.
Court 2 would probably have 3 or 4 of those matches on it so you'd have a very good day there.

If Andy wasn't playing on Court 2 you'd be able to 'watch' him on the big screens from up on Henman Hill where there is a great atmosphere anyway.

Congratulations to everyone who has got tickets! I was lucky last year and it's a fantastic feeling.

In fact, when I looked back to see when I had my offer last year (centre court first Thursday), I see that it was on 1st March. Does anyone know if they have done the main ballot a week early this year or is there hope for next week?

hfwardhouse
22-02-2012, 09:21
There is always hope GL - if folk are offered tickets on a date they can't go they'll reject them and they're reballoted immediately I think cos I got my first offer the week after everyone else got their's so don't give up yet!

My friend has got 2 tickets for no 2 court on the first Friday so she's well chuffed. She works in a school though and is off in to negotiate getting the last day of term off!!! Mind you, she is just part time so I can't see it'll be that big a deal?!

Thanks Jane, so perhaps my tickets last year were returned and reballoted straight away as were probably yours that time. That gives me renewed hope! A good friend of mine got men's semis centre court last year and she texted me last night to say she'd got centre again on 27th June! I have to admit to being a tad envious :shamed: only because she doesn't even follow tennis. Perhaps I need to get her really interested before she goes again, last year she really enjoyed the semis and she was supporting Andy.

I hope your friend manages to negotiate the day off Jane.

Hi All, As I understand it from the ticket office the whole of the first ballot went out at the end of last week. I know from a friend who was offered tickets for Court 1 on Mens' Finals Day you have until 8th March to decide whether or not you want to take them up. Usually the 2nd ballot goes out about a week after that. I understand about 20% of the tickets don't get taken up first time around, so hopefully some more of us on here will be lucky. I normally get tickets because my cousin works there but she is very ill at present, so that door is closed. Also believe the LTA ballot is due to be done earlier than usual. According to the website it says end Feb/early March.

22-02-2012, 11:38

I forgot to sent the ballot off in time this time whoops!

Caro
22-02-2012, 13:22
Still nothing yesterday so asuming I haven't been lucky in the first round of the ballot.

Congrats to all those who have been offered tickets. Mens semis 6 rows from the fornt last year was amazing (apart from the fact that Andy and Tsonga who I was supporting both lost) ..... that has probably used up a few years worth of luck!

gallacher10
22-02-2012, 15:02
When I first entered the ballot in 2010 I was offered centre court tickets for men's semi's this was around the middle of March so I am assuming that that was part of the second ballot which gives hope to all of us who have not been successful in the main ballot. Last year I entered again however was unsuccessful. I was in Brighton at the end of the second week, so my sister and I joined the Wimbledon queue at 11 ish on the Friday and got grounds passes. Was great to get into the grounds and watch the men's semis on the big screen on court two. Would love to get a ticket this year as I missed being in the show courts last year!

Being in Scotland, its a bit far and costly to for me to travel down without a ticket this year.

I didn't enter the Queens ballot either. I'd say don't go. I don't like the high up seats, you feel like you are falling down. And last time I bought tickets for the Saturday, all the top players were out - the highest ranked player in the semis was Feli (and he lost).

Wow! I guess some people have things booked on certain days so can't go .... having said that I would cancel most things for mens final or semis tickets!! Agree about high chance of court 1 on finals day. The only good thing about that would be if Andy was in the final, it would be a way to get in and watch on the big screen!

Best scenario (apart from Andy getting that far *sigh* more anti jinx potion....:cauldron:) I think would be Fed on the opposite court to Andy at the same time.........surely I'd get a swap then????!!!:)

She didn't use the same name, she used her daughter's name and address and her own name and address. It is sooo unlikely that both people would get tickets so it just gives you 2 chances.

As for reporting them ..... you've got to be kidding me??? You wouldn't do the same??

Received Wimbledon ballot tix yesterday, got 2 tix for Centre Court Round 1 on first Tuesday, really pleased :cheer::cheer: Though I'm more of a Rafa fan, would still be happy to watch either Roger, Andy (and of course Rafa) play on Centre Court that day. I love Wimbledon so much, been there the last 2 years, can't get enough of it. Good luck everyone, fingers crossed still a chance for ballot tix.

BTW is there still a separate ballot draw for British Tennis members after the main ballot has been drawn?

Yup, I mean per year. It doesn't include weekends. And is before 5:30 p.m. We have to still pay for courts, but is cheaper at £7 per court. Plus £1 off drop in sessions. Can book courts more easily. Also get 3 or 4 tournaments free per year (at £12 each you all but get the money back if you do even 3) So I thought it was pretty worth it. Hoping i get lucky in the ballot too. Is at Will2win tennis in Regents Park...

Just received a letter offering a pair of tickets for court no 2 on Wednesday 4th July. Does anyone know what we would be likely to see, any main draw doubles perhaps? Or would it be juniors/veterans etc?

I think that could be a good ticket.

That Wednesday is the Mens Singles Quarter Finals day and according to the Wimbledon website the 4 matches will be played on Centre and No 1 Court.

It's also likely to be a day for any of Ladies, Mens and Mixed Doubles QF's so of necessity a number of those would be on the other televised 'show courts' i.e. Court 2, Court 3 and Court 18. It's possible there'd be a veterans match on Court 2 (they tend to mix things up at that stage) but probably not any juniors.

If you took the Court 2 tickets you'd be inside the grounds and if you wanted to watch the Mens QF action you could head up to Murray Mount for a while and watch on the big screen.

Provisional Programme of Play (taken from the Wimbledon website)
Please note these are days that list events are due to START.

Days 1-7

Monday / Tuesday
Gentlemen's & Ladies' Singles
Gentlemen's & Ladies' Doubles

Thursday
Mixed Doubles

Saturday
Boys' and Girls' Singles

Days 8-13

Monday
Fourth round Gentlemen's and Ladies' Singles

Tuesday
Ladies Singles QF
Boys' & Girls' Doubles
Veterans' Invitation Doubles - Centre & No.1 Court

Wednesday - Centre & No.1 Court
Gentlemen's Singles QF
(notes from SD - so the doubles QFs are likely to be played on other show courts e.g. 2, 3, 12, 18 and 19.

Thursday - Centre Court & No.1 Court
Ladies' Singles SF
Championship Doubles SF

Friday - Centre Court & No.1 Court
Gentlemen's Singles SF
Championship Doubles SF
Wheelchair Doubles SF Court tbc

Saturday - Centre Court
Ladies' Singles Final
Gentlemen's Doubles Final
Ladies' Doubles Final

Sunday - Centre Court
Gentlemen's Singles Final
Mixed Doubles Final
Wheelchair Doubles Finals Court tbc

You can't beat the atmosphere of being there!!!

The Wimbledon website has masses of information (as you probably know) so it's worth taking a look at the section on spectators here (http://www.wimbledon.com/championships/spectator). They've updated the website and also their maps/layouts - here's (http://www.wimbledon.com/championships/spectator/maps) the main one where you can see the 2nd tier courts 2, 3, 12 and 18 quite easily.

Hi All, in case people are starting to lose hope of getting tickets, it can still happen! Have been offered a set of tickets for Thursday, July 5th on Court No. 1. Hoping for rain and some delayed mens quarter finals matches, what do you think though, is it likely! Thanks

Welcome to the forum Aile1. :welcome:

Glad you have managed to get tickets. I suppose rain delays could mean that there is Men's play on the Thursday, but they would have to be very bad as there is now a roof over Centre. There should be some good doubles matches on that day though.

A friend of mine has got mens' quarters Court 1 and has asked me go. Guess there'll be up the back but unless it rains, should be a great day

Not necessarily ..... you never know where you are sitting until you get the tickets, so people who were offered them first time around won't have rejected them because of where they are. they could be right at the front!

themass15
19-04-2012, 09:55
I understand they do them from the front. Whenever I have got tickets in the 2nd or 3rd ballots they are always up the back. If you get tickets in the run up to the tournament - probably June onwards then these are tickets which were allocated earlier and, for whatever reason, the people cannot now go. This happened to me in June 2006 for the middle Saturday (it was when England was playing Portugal in the football) and my friend got tickets about halfway up on Centre. We were incredibly lucky as we saw Agassi's last match at Wimbledon against Rafa and then Murray beat Andy Roddick. It was one of my best days at Wimbledon!

I take it you mean tryinhg to get last minute tickets on Ticketmaster - they vary, and you cannot be guaranted to get any. The day before they sell ex debenture tickets but they are harder to get. 2 Days before they sell ones at the top at the back.

Yes - in the Olympics sub-forum (http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?32-Olympics-London-2012) - the Tickets thread is here (http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?460-Olympics-London-2012-Tickets/page6&p=66493#post66493).

Just got the phone call from my tennis club, who held their ballot last night. I was lucky again this year! Men's semi finals! :cheer: :cheer:

Well done Linda, you are so lucky!Semis will be awesome. Furthest i have been is quarters. Hopefully Andy and rafa in separate semis!

Linda

Who else would you pick to see?

Linda
02-06-2012, 16:31
There are a lot of players I'd like to see, but a lot of the players I like, such as Ferrer, don't do so well on grass. Tsonga maybe. I'm sure Djoko will be in one of the semis. Maybe Berdy will get to the semis too.

WimbledonAce
02-06-2012, 16:35
Yeah I agree with Tsonga. Ferrer would be my other choice but unlikely. Will be a great day for you anyway!

Linda

The only other time I went to the semis the wrong players won! Andy R beat Andy M and Fed beat Haas.

Yes I was at that one too Linda. Was at semis last year too (how lucky am I?!!) Wanted Tsonga to beat Djokovic and Andy to beat Rafa so the wrong players won then too!! Still awesome to be there though and both times had seats near the front.

Hi Guys,

No semis for me this year but have been on numerous occasions, I saw Roddick bt Andy and Fed bt Haas to. I have tickets for both finals and also quarters but on Court 1 so, unfortunately, won't get to see Andy unless anyone wants to swap?!

WimbledonAce
02-06-2012, 20:52
A few lucky people on here then! I know Lindas were in club ballot, did you others get them in normal wimbledon ballot? Like i said quarters was furthest for me, had those twice, both for court 1 i think.

Linda
02-06-2012, 21:03
The previous time I got them in the public ballot.

Despite entering every year, I have only had tickets once from the public ballot. And all the years I was a member of the LTA but not in a tennis club, I didn't get any tickets from the LTA ballot. But since I have been a member of a tennis club I have got tickets twice. So it seems to me that you have more chance if you are a member of a tennis club.

WimbledonAce
02-06-2012, 21:07
I have had tickets loads from the ballot, not the past 2 years though. Got them once in the lta ballot but only in that a couple of years. I am not in a tennis club. Really looking forward to wimbledon even though im not going at the moment!

I thought they went on sale the day before, which would be Sunday? Do you get emails from Wimbledon? If so, they should let you know.

Me and Gill were palnning to go and camp out for mens quarters as we didn't get any ballot tickets this year. However, we have now booked 2 days at the O2 and have Olympic tickets one day as well so probably have to give wimby a miss this year :crying:

Don't forget that you can't queue for tickets for the semis and finals. And the queue for the 2nd Monday usually starts on Saturday.

Perhaps because fewer of our forum have tickets this year?
Don't worry - we'll get into the swing of it soon.

The weather isn't helping - difficult to envisage Wimbers with all this blasted rain and wind!!!

Hi guys, I'd be grateful for some advice about the queue.

It's my 18th birthday on july 4th, and so I was hoping to try and get centre court tickets with some friends for that day. I was planning on arriving early-ish on the Tuesday morning - would this be early enough? Last year i queued for the first monday and arrived at about 9.30 am and was about 320 in the queue - obviously more people will want tickets for men's quarterfinals, but then equally it'd involve taking 2 days off for a lot of people, whereas the first monday is only one. So would arriving at about 9am on the tuesday be early enough? I'd rather not queue for 2 nights, although I suppose I will probably end up doing so if necessary. And the queue length of course varies each year so I guess there's no definitive answer to this question!

But any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks

I don't think you need to camp for 2 nights - although some people do to be absolutely certain that they will get a Centre Court or Court 1 ticket. But there's no doubt the earlier you arrive on Tuesday 3rd for the Wed 4th queue the more likely you are to be guaranteed a Centre Court ticket.

There may be others who've done this and can make better suggestions; I've not camped overnight but find that arriving 7am on the day usually ensures a ground pass.

Yeah I think most likely arriving at 9am or so on the tuesday should be ok, I just need to decide whether to be safe than sorry and arrive monday evening i suppose. Hopefully some other people have queued for men's quarter finals before and so will be able to provide more info, but many thanks for your help!

Also I noticed that on the website it says that from the 2013 Championships onwards people will not be able to erect gazebos due to space constraints, and they have made changes to the pricing for left luggage for this year - it is now £5 (£4 of which goes to charity) an item it if is camping equipment and the usual £1 for any other items. Anyone else seen this?

We've been lucky again, though no Centre or Court 1 tickets this year. I will be on Court 2 the first Wednesday, June 27th and Niknak and I will be on Court 2 middle Saturday, June 30th, so we won't see Andy but should get some good matches weather permitting! Anyone else there those 2 days?

Linda

I'm probably going to queue for the middle Saturday, unless the weather on Friday is unsuitable for camping. :)

Need some help folks: My daughter-in-law along with her daughter are going to Wimbledon on the final Saturday. They have tickets for No 1 Court. Neither has been before so they need some advice. They will be driving from the NW on the Friday and camping at Wimbledon. They know absolutely nothing re what to do etc and neither do I. They would like detailed info re getting to Wimbledon. Something was said about satnav ??...Do they have to reserve camping space, what is the procedure re Saturday morning and their tent, queuing etc????? Looking forward to hearing from experienced campers/Wimbledon regulars. Thanks a lot.

Not sure whether you can camp out at the end of the tournament as officially the queues finish on Wednesday, 4th July. However, I remember people queuing to see Andy last year and the year before, so your best might be to ring Wimbledon and ask.

As well as tickets to the Men's semis, I now have tickets for no1 court on the final Sun.
Will anyone be about that day?
Also, any ideas for reasonably priced accommodation for the Sat & poss Sun night?
(Have already booked for the Thurs/ Fri night, so now need to try & keep costs down!)
Thanks,
Joyce

It may be cheaper in somewhere like Croydon which is a tramride away. I believe people round Southfields do bed and breakfast but I am not sure how you go about finding them.

Wow, that's great news!!! You'll see all the razamatazz of the opening and probably Nole opening proceedings as last years Champion (that's how it used to be done anyway ...). Getting into the grounds the next 2 days gives you the potential to see just about everybody in R1 too. Good plan.

Welcome to the forum by the way - were you on the previous forums most of us were members of?
