Bought all my tickets and booked hotel on 1st February, so I am all sorted. Going each afternoon, both semis and final as I did in 2010. Managed to see each player that way.

Still swithering, bringing it forward 2 weeks makes attending much more awkward for me.

Oh to be retired! I got the official government letter today telling me that my retirement age has gone up to 66. Friends only 5 years older than me were able to retire at 60. :crying:

Yeah, I got one of those too. I now retire at 64 and 3/4.
There must be an Adrian Mole type of story in there somewhere ...

Awesome! Hope you can make it over!

People don't have to retire at all over here. One of my former colleagues who is the office manager at HarperCollins is 72 and still works there and loves it. She has no intention to retire.

Hi Guys, Got the tickets I wanted too and, more importantly, the seats! I have got some afternoons, some evenings, first semi-final on the Sunday and final. Now got to hope Andy is fit and makes it!!!!

I got tickets too. I am amazed how much CHEAPER get tickets if your Barclays customer. I just move to Barclays. Before had to pay over £200 for full day 2 tickets and now it only £92.50 full day 2 tickets. Big difference.

I was looking at level 4 too but they were just as expensive as last year. I didn't go through the whole process - we're thinking of just doing the semis this year which I see are on Sunday and not Monday! Did you have to go to the payment page before you were given the discount, Speedy?

There isn't a week's break between the Paris Masters and the WTF so the latter are starting on Monday 5th November with the Semi's on Sunday 11th and Finals on Monday 12th. See link.
http://www.atpworldtour.com/Finals/2012/Tickets/Tickets.aspx

This is all to do with shortening the tour year and giving players extra time off ......

So did I and it was lucky I couldn't make the site work to start with or I'd have automatically gone for Sat/Sun thinking it was like last year! Not even sure what made me notice in the end. Still haven't booked. Mr P is umming and arhing about whether or not to come to some or all the ones I'd like to go to. Toying with just doing the semis and going to the theatre on the Sat night and then home Monday to watch the final on tv. Decisions, decisions......

Hi Guys, the Barclays presale lasts until 8th March and then tickets will go on sale to general public. Still lots of tickets left except for semis and final. Got my tickets early, all in the 2nd row so well chuffed, makes up for the disappointment of not having any Wimbledon tickets this year.

Caro
22-02-2012, 13:14
Oh heck!! Not many tickets left for the semis? Drat and double drat! And the so called advanced sale hasn't even started!! It's a farce. Think I'm going to have to get a barclays account for next year - when do they go on sale for barclays customers?

The Barclays presale is on now and there's not a whole lot on there BUT they don't offer all the tickets in pre-sales and from experience they don't always offer the best either. They can be quite cunning IMHO and offer seats that may be less popular and people think that's all there is so they buy them! I think some peeps on here would tell you they've got great seats outside the pre-sale periods.

I'm thinking not to go to this after all now that I'm going to Wimbledon.........can't have it all unfortunately.

You get a great view from up there, in fact Mr P and I prefer it.

Younger son is in the process of buying a house in London - don't want to jinx it (cue :cauldron:) but if it goes through I'd have somewhere to stay and may treat myself to tix. Mr P wouldn't need to come then so that would save money ;)

I bought myself lower level seats for the semis afternoon through the LTA pre-sale. There were none of them available when I checked for normal pre-sale. May get some for saturday in the future if there are any

I bet there will end up being better seats in general sale and I will end up kicking myself :p

I looked on the general pre-sale last week (ie non Barclays) and the seats for semis were right at the back for level 1. Too expensive to sit right at the back! A couple of years ago I got tickets nearer the time that had clearly just been released. Don't know what to do ......

Hi Caro,

Think they have probably been sold but people who have no intention of goings and have already put them on Viagogo. My cousin bought some on Viagogo last year for almost the same price as Ticketmaster. This was for one of the round robin sessions, it wouldn't probably happen for semis or the final.

Last year I didn't buy tickets as they were all too far back, and I kept holding out for more to come on sale (as I'd managed to get good seats previously by waiting) but none did. Finally I bought a ticket for the first Sunday evening, near the back of the lower level, just a day or two before (the OOP was already out so I knew who I was going to see). And actually I had a really good view.

Hello Alan - welcome to the forum!
:welcome:

The format for the ATP Tour Finals the same each day and includes a Doubles match and 2 Singles matches for each day and evening session. So, you won't be able to avoid the doubles (they're good fun to watch!) but they're usually played first on the day sessions so you could opt to arrive later if you didn't actually want to see any doubles play.

To guarantee seeing Andy play you'd probably need to get tickets for both day and evening sessions for 2 consecutive days e.g. Mon/Tue, Tue/Wed. At this stage no-one has a clue about the Order of Play but at the Round Robin stage he'll play alternate days - hence the need to cover your back by buying a load of tickets ...

Linda

Hello Sallydaisy,

As you guessed, I am new to this and any other forum, so I hope I am replying correctly.
I thank you for your very informative answer and apologise for not replying sooner. If there is a Doubles match and 2 Singles matches for each day and evening session then I make that four singles matches each day, and if there are only eight players, surely that equals four matches, so I should see him. If I have misunderstood, then i think I will go for two sesions on one day and I should have a 50/50 chance of seeing him. Whoeever i see, it will be a joy to see them live.

Thanks to all others who gave suggestions.

Hello Alan
Apologies because after reading your post I realise I gave incorrect information.
Each session is 1 doubles and 1 singles match.

The 8 players/teams are split into groups and play Round Robin format for the first 6 days.
Then Semi's and then Finals.

No guarantee it'll be the same this year but this was the schedule for 2011.
In fact, Group B started first in 2011 (on Sunday) with Group A (Andy's) on Monday i.e. Day 2.

Until there is OFFICIAL confirmation of the OOP this is the planned schedule BUT I am not sure which group plays first so Days 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 could be reversed.

Day 1: Group A to start???
Day 2: Group B on 2nd day???
Day 3: Group A winners play each other, Group A losers play each other
Day 4: Groub B winners play each other, Group B losers play each other
Day 5: Group A players play the player they haven't yet played in their group
Day 6: Group B players play the player they haven't yet played in their group
Day 7: Winner of Grp A plays the R/Up of Group B, Winner of Grp B plays the R/Up of Group A.
Day 8: Winners of the matches on Day 7 play.

Each Day session has 1 doubles and 1 singles match. Ditto night session.
Until the OOP is out it's impossible to know who will be on the day or night sessions or who they'll play.

Well done you! I hope you do get to see Andy play.

FYI (and anyone else) you can access most of the O2 without a ticket (only need that to get into the Arena itself). So, if you live in/around London you can just turn up and watch the players in practice on any of the 3 courts set aside in the public areas.

Has anyone ever sat in level 4 before in the upper tiers? is it still pretty decent viewing? oh its so hard to know what to do as soon as OOP comes out i bet there will be no tickets and its so expensive getting 4 sessions, and i will kick myself if i pick the session andy isnt in!

14-10-2012, 12:50
Level 4 is quite a long way up, but still a good view. Certainly not as far from the action as the back row at the Olympic Stadium was!!

In previous years I've managed to get tickets for both sessions for a weekday without problems once we know which group is playing on which days, and hence which days Andy will be on, and hoping to do the same this year. It's more risky waiting until the OOP comes out and you know which session Andy's in, although I did manage that the first year.

A great view from level 4 especially if you can get sat above the net. In saying that, last year I sneaked into level 2 quite easily...

I had an email today saying they'd arrive closer to the event .... but not saying when. I've to make contact with them 5 days before I leave to travel down if they've not arrived. It's so daft - I've got tickets for Minnie for Jessie J in March and I got to print those myself!

To be honest the seat at level 4 are still great - a fantastic all court view. If you can stand the height and descending the steps at the end - no problem. We had those the first year and thoroughly enjoyed every match. Now we go for the more expensive ones but dont worry if cost is a problem - those seats are fine and will probably be available up to the day before. I should move quickly, though, when you find out whether Andy starts Sun/tues or Mon/wed. Once people know when he is on tickets melt

Wow, lucky you!! That must have cost a small fortune! I'm there for both sessions Weds and Thurs and that nearly broke the bank! Mind you, we also have to pay for travel and hotel which adds to the cost but when we did it 2 years ago we had a great time and it was well worth it even though we didn't see any humdinger matches.

I'm sure you will see Andy with all those tickets .... hopefully he will be fit for the whole thing unlike last year.

As for the level 4 seats - we had those for one day 2 years ago and although the view was fine, the action seemed very far away and we felt the atmosphere was not as good because of that. Having said that, they are a cheaper option and I would rather sit there than miss out. We have pushed the boat out and gone for all level 1 seats this year though.

I doubt how far Andy goes in Paris will make much difference as to when he plays at the ATP final. If Andy gets to the Paris final he could easily be playing someone who is going to be in the opposite ATP final group.

My Mum, Dad & I want to continue the family tradition of going to Andy's opening round match at the WTF but my Dad needs to book the day off work and his firm are getting "antsy" as they want to know whether he wants Monday or Tuesday off!! At this rate I'll end up missing out on seeing Andy! :(

I have to say that having Paris and the WTF on back-to-back weeks doesn't seem to be working terribly well for anyone concerned - at least all the top seeds will be fresh!! :)

Im going to the day and evening session on monday, I didn't realise how it worked so thought we would definitely get to see Andy, Im gonna be gutted if now :((((

You've got a 50/50 chance of seeing Andy - the first three years of this event it opened on a Sunday (6 days after the conclusion of Paris) and we gambled on them playing Andy on that day because of appealing to weekend crowds - there were groups of school kids there, etc. The first two years this theory worked, but on the third year they played Andy on the Monday - in retrospect they probably took this decision because of the injury he was carrying, to give him an extra recovery day...

The resolution of that was that we sold our Sunday tickets on eBay and combined that money to buy tickets to Andy's session on the Monday - for what ended up being the only match Andy played at the WTF last year. However, obviously with the quick turnaround between Paris and the WTF, nobody knows what's going on and so that's an option closed off. :(

My Dad's firm getting increasingly antsy - unless it gets announced today, there will probably be no Andy (or any live tennis at all) for me this year... :( :( :(

Take care... :)

Well, all over for another year. Already planning for next year!
Step 1 - open Barclays account
Step 2 - save lots of money!
Thinking of going to the last 4 group matches and the semis .... or maybe the semis and the final but like seeing all the players so the first option is probably best.
There were a few 'dead' matches this year though which is not so good. Have plenty of time to decide.
As Stephen said, we should book together .....
