MIAMI 2012 - FINAL: Nole takes it 6'1, 7'6(4) and retains his title.

Despite Pico Monaco's best efforts he'll have to continue his battle for supremacy over Andy Murray on the playstation not the tennis courts. The Argentinian put in a brave performance last night against Novak Djokovic but was beaten 6'0, 7'6(5).

So, Andy will be playing Nole in the Final.

Nole leads the H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=D643&oId=MC10) by 7-5 but if you take out 2 wins on clay they're 5-5 on hard courts.
Unfortunately, it's at the Grand Slams that the Serbian has got the better of Andy with 2 wins at the AO; in the Semi this year and the Final in 2011.

Djokovic has had a fairly straightforward run in this event; Bye in R1 and 2 set wins over Bagdhatis, Troicki, Gasquet, Ferrer and Monaco.
He's on course to defend his title unless Andy can stop him.

Bye, Falla, W/O, Simon, Tipsarevic, W/O (Nadal).

The lack of match practice at the higher levels of a Masters might work against Muzzah - although the 3-setter against Tipsy was a good test. On the plus side he'll have energy in the tank - all the more so because, as we know, Andy really ups his game against Rafa and that can leave a player a bit flat in the next round. Now he just has to be on tip-top form to post another win over Nole and lift the trophy on Sunday.

There are some conflicting reports as to the time of the Mens Final.

The SE Open site has it scheduled for 12.30pm on Sunday + the WTA Doubles Final but there's likely to be various bits of razzamatazz first so 1pm local time is the likely start. The H2H header the ATP website says 1pm ET, 7pm CET (6pm UK) and this is borne out by David Law on twitter:

What will be interesting is the weather and particularly any wind.

When he was speaking to the doctor on court Andy said he'd felt ill during his previous match so I think it was a bug of some sort rather than his fluid intake. Jez and co are pretty good at managing that and they've been with Andy a while now so would have ironed out any problems of fliuid balance and Andy is well used to playing in the Florida weather. However, you never know how different conditions on the day might affect something thought normally not to be a a problem. I still think he had a mild form of the bug that had got at so many players in I/Wells.

Due to the close proximity players are to eachother at the big events where there are lots in the draw, would they take any sort of medicine to help them avoid tummy bugs and the like? Is there a common routine/practice that Jez/Matt do at each tournament to prevent such problems, as of course Andy Ireland would do in relation to muscular issues?

Think it's a bit of a different mindset over the best of 5 sets but clearly Andy has been a match for Nole recently, even if he has yet to beat him in a slam. The match in Rome last year was also very tight at the time when Djokovic had that amazing run and whilst Nole wasn't 100% fit in Cincinatti and retired, Murray put him under pressure there. We shouldn't read too much into it but Andy has emerged victorious thus far in all of their Masters finals. However, think Nole will have a better start that he did in Dubai and Andy will have to up his level here from the previous matches but sure he can rise to the challenge! Hopefully the lack of matches won't be significant, fingers crossed!

It's hard to know whether the lack of matches is a net advantage or disadvantage, IMO. On the plus side, he's not going to be tired and should have fewer niggles than if he'd played every round. On the minus side, he's had less match practice. I seem to remember a tennis commentator saying that match practice is by far the most important - but then again, that might've been Barry Cowan...
