MONTE CARLO 2012, QUARTER-FINAL: Andy beaten by Berdy 6'7, 6'2, 6'3

Andy is up against Tomas Berdych in the Quarter-Final in Monte Carlo.

For a long while Tomas led their H2H by 3-1 (Andy's only win being at Basel 2005).
However, earlier this year Andy beat the Czech 6-3, 7-5 in the Quarter Final in Dubai.

So, it's Andy 2-3 H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=MC10&oId=BA47)to Berdy.

Here's hoping it'll be 3-3 after tomorrow's match ...

This always seem to be a nervewracking match up, particularly when you can't watch live! Hopefully though the last encounter will give Andy some confidence that he can work Berdy out even if he is still a tricky opponent and on clay it could be more challenging. Andy really needs to be pretty much on his A game though and it will be beneficial if he gets off to a good start in the early morning! All the best Muzzah!

I couldn't watch Andy's match yesterday and can't see it live today either. I'm sure Andy and Ivan will have worked out a very good game plan. My hope is that it will be warmer and that the sun will have made the conditions faster as this will suit Andy better. I too can't take to Berdy, something not very nice about him, having said all that I think Andy will triumph.

The timing isn't great for a lot of people who are at work during the day - the board has been pretty quiet during Andy's matches as a result.

Hope he can get past Berdy and I think Ivan will be helping him psyche up for it and come up with a strategy. He really needs to play for 2 sets as he did on Tuesday against Troicki - although Berdy is likely to give him a tougher match.

I echo others' feelings on here about Berdy. Out of the players ranked 5 down to 10, Berdy is my least liked match up for Andy especially on this surface. He absolutely must serve well today and if he does, I think he should come through ok. All the very best Andy! :cheer:
