I am also hoping that Andy & Rafa are playing Tue/Thur/Sat - my tickets are for Thursday and I hope to camp Friday for Saturday. If they are playing Mon/Wed/Fri then I am scuppered as obviously I can't queue on Thursday for Friday.

Unfortunately for us they are both playing Mon/Wed/Fri :crying::crying: I'm gutted! If I could have just had one of them I would have been happy! Not sure I want to camp out now .....

EDIT: If we decide not to camp for Saturday and just queue for ground passes on Friday, what time would people advise we get there??

Oh no! Andy and Rafa are both playing Mon/Wed/Fri so I won't see either of them on Thursday :crying: And worse, I can't queue on Thursday for Friday :crying: :crying: :crying: Wish I hadn't seen that email now

I feel for you Linda! I feel the same as we were all geared up to camp Friday night and Gill is working Thursday so we can't camp Thursday for Friday either

At least with a ticket for Thurs though you won't have to get there at stupid o'clock and you'll have a day at Wimby .... little consolation I know

Hey, I'm with you girls. All the way from USA and have tickets for Thursday. Will miss Andy but at least I can concentrate on enjoying the experience. Hopefully there will be some players I like on court 3.
What time do you think you would have to queue for ground passes for Friday? Would Friday morning work?

Linda
21-06-2013, 16:11
A few years ago I queued for a ground pass on the Saturday - I got there about 5am and got in easily (though I wouldn't have got a show court, of course) - loads of people joined the queue from about 6am onwards. So I would say definitely get there before 6am. Of course that's no guarantee as a lot of other people might be thinking the same.

So excited for the start of Wimby now!

Me too! Really can't wait!

I have 2 debenture tickets that were gifted to me for Court One on the Monday of the 2nd week (1st July). This is the day when everyone who is still in the draw is playing so you are sure to get some big names playing.

I was hoping to take a family member with me who is a massive tennis fan and has never been to the hallowed turf! Unfortunately they cannot make this date so I am looking to try and swap my 2 tickets with someone. I am hoping to swap them for 2 tickets on the Friday of the first week (28th June) on either Centre Court or Court One.

If anyone here is interested give me a shout, tanks in advanced fellow Murray fans, I once played against the man himself in a Scottish schools event- hoping he can do the business this year.

Ah, I actually have a pair of tickets for Court 1 on the first Friday and would have absolutely loved to go on Magic Monday! Although I wish I had seen this message sooner as I've booked my travel up there now and can't change it. I wish you all the best with your search for your ticket swap though, I hope you make it.

My tickets arrived today. They are not in the Z rows this time! They are in row Y :rolling:

I am also hoping that Andy & Rafa are playing Tue/Thur/Sat - my tickets are for Thursday and I hope to camp Friday for Saturday. If they are playing Mon/Wed/Fri then I am scuppered as obviously I can't queue on Thursday for Friday.

Hehe, mine are in row Y too, are you on Court 1 or Centre Linda?
Sorry to hear that you've been unlucky in the terms of the draw  Andy and Rafa are likely to be on the practice courts on the Thursday anyway so least you will get to see them! Thinking about it though surely you could decide to miss the Saturday you have planned on going on Centre/Court 1 and take that time queuing for Magic Monday tickets, those matches are surely going to be more action packed than the third round matches so really the fact Andy and Rafa are playing Mon/Wed/Fri will actually benefit you as after your day on Thursday you can start up camp sometime in the afternoon on Friday and therefore are bound to get tickets to Centre (or Court 1 if you choose that instead)!!

I've actually been really lucky with the second half of the draw being highlighted by Andy, Rafa, Fed and Tsonga, and that they are playing Mon/Wed/Fri, as I've got Court 1 tickets for the Friday and was a little worried that I wouldn't get to see any of the top 4 live as they would be put on Centre Court. But having 3 of the top 4 in one half pretty much guarantees that I will see atleast one of them! I just hope it isn't Fed! It will be my first time in the presence of ATP and WTA stars so I'm thrilled by the prospect of watching Andy, Rafa and Tsonga! However in a way I would prefer to have had Thursday tickets because it means I doubt there will be any chance now to camp for Centre Court tickets on Magic Monday if I will be inside the grounds on the Friday, so have decided not to camp out this year.

But still, uber excited for my first Wimbledon and I will definitely be writing a blog about my time there - I'll try to get some sneaky pictures of the matches in there too!

Andy's side of the draw makes life so confusing! I want to try ticketmaster tickets for centre court on Wednesday but what if Andy is playing on court 1 that day? Do you think I would be able to find anyone who would be willing to swap tickets? Argh! Dilemma

Linda
21-06-2013, 21:00
I should think it would be easy to find someone to swap tickets with, as if Andy were on Court 1 then both Fed & Rafa would be on Centre, and they are the two players that most people want to see.

So p....d off about the draw I have something completely barmy and bought a debenture tickets for Mens Quarters Day. Hoping it is section 2 where most of them are. I am going Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday all on Saturday and no Andy, Rafa or JWT. Also going to Italy on 6th July so will miss the Final. The thought of Rafa v Fed and Andy v JWT was too much of a lure. Now I have to pray they get there and work out how I am going to find the money for the ticket!!!!

Well, it's decided - we are not going to camp Friday night for tickets Saturday as originally planned. It would mean sitting in Wimbledon park all day Friday and missing Andy's match. Soooo ..... we have decided just to go for ground passes on Friday. That way we can still queue for show court returns. Will get there when the car park opens at 6am. Hoping that will be early enough ....

I am going to try for Court 3 tickets for the 2nd Monday as I don't think I will be quick enough to get Centre but if I am lucky with that I shall queue from around 5 a.m. for a Ground Pass as there should be as many matches as there will be on Friday/Saturday.

I tried Ticketmaster for returns a few times today but no luck. Am going to try in morning for Monday but not sure whether to go for Centre or Court 3. I mean if i don't get lucky its not the end of the world because i will just queue as originally planned, but it would be nice to have tickets for one day next week so its one day when i don't have to get up at 3.15am to get in the queue!!!

They are not allowing queuing until 8 am this Sunday morning 23rd June.

Wimbledon tennis fans arriving to camp for tickets today were shocked to be sent home due to health and safety rules.

Eager fans queuing for Centre Court tickets for Andy Murray's match on Monday were ordered by an All England Club official to leave Wimbledon Park because of Merton Borough Council's new regulations.

It is understood to be first time fans have ever been turned away from the queue.

I also know of quite a lot of people queueing to watch Rafa. And presumably a similar number for Fed. The funny thing is, that if Nole's half were starting first there probably wouldn't be a queue at all yet.

I am probably being a bit thick, but to apply for Centre Court returns you have to be on the Ticketmaster site at 9am the day before, but to apply for Centre court reserved seating what time to you have to go online please???????
If Hubby is OK would love to apply for the semi's

For the returns it is 48 hours beforehand i.e. the returns for the mens' semis would go on sale around noon on Wednesday, 3rd July. Almost impossible to get those I would think as there is probably less than a handful. However if you want to see the womens' instead I am sure you would have no problem whatsoever.

Having said that I got a return for the mens final in 2007 but that was when very few people knew about Ticketmaster. I had several returns that year and on one occasion was in the second row where the players come in.

Hi - sorry if this has been asked before but if (on the veeeeery slim chance) I was able to get a pair of return tickets through Ticketmaster is there a chance when we get to the box office to collect them that we may be allocated 2 single tickets or will they definitely be seated together?

My friend that I am trying to get tickets to go with is a bit anxious of crowds so if there's a chance we won't be sitting together I'll try for the seats allocated at time of booking instead!

Thanks guys

I was on there dead on 9am this morning and asked for 1 ticket. I think if you ask for 2 and don't get them then it would be too late to go back and ask for just one. So EMRAWKGRRL whilst you may get 2 tix it could be risky. They tell you where the seats are before you accept so you'd see if they're together or not from the row and seat numbers.

Have to say I'm a past master at online tix as I was a big fan of a particular music person and got used to the scramble for tix for concerts then.

Am now regretting not going but that's just sitting here without all the stress I know it would entail getting there and back tomorrow. TV will have to do. Just seemed like once in a lifetime possibility of seeing Fed, Rafa and Andy on the same day (although one of them may be on Court 1 I suppose). Andy's match (if all goes to plan :cauldron:) probably won't be that exciting anyway. Might try again later on in the tournie.

The queue for tomorrow opened at 8am today, but people were already queueing outside on the pavement since yesterday; they were only allowed to join the official queue at 8am this morning. It filled up very quickly. Quite a lot of people I know got there for 8am - although they are not all in the 1st 500 they should be OK for No1 Court tickets as a lot of people will want Centre Court tickets.

Linda

I'm thinking that with the crowds they've had this year, you'd need to be there by 8am to be certain of getting in when the grounds open. I'm intending to get there about 6.00-6.30 - you never know, with Fed & Rafa both out there will be less people in the queue and I might even get a show court (obs. wouldn't get Centre where I assume Andy will be).

A note about queuing for grounds. It has been crazy busy this year! The difference of say 15-30 mins can make the difference of 1000 spaces! Me and my friends reached the queue at 6:55 and were about 5160 in the queue. We didn't get in till about 11:30! After gates open! Makes it tough when first trains are not actually that early!

On queuing for ground passes I went yesterday. Got there at 6 am and was 4211 in the queue. I want to go again on Saturday with my son, but fear that anything after 7 am will be too late to get in. Any one had experience of queuing for ground passes on middle Saturday?

Linda
27-06-2013, 11:46
In 2009 I queued for a ground pass on the middle Saturday. I got there a little before 6am (they must have opened the car park early!) and was 1565 or thereabouts in the queue. It seems there are a lot more people queuing this year. If I go tomorrow (if it looks like bad weather I may go Saturday instead) I will aim to be there by 6.30am.

Just my luck that the weather forecast is rubbish tomorrow, the one day I am going to Wimby this year. We were originally going to queue overnight for tickets Saturday but when the draw came out and Andy and Rafa were both in the other half we decided to just go for ground passes on Friday. I'm NOT happy weather gods - sort it out!!!!

Hi Linda
I feel the queue may be a lot different an busier than in 2009! You will probably be fine arriving at 6:30 but may be about 4000 in the queue and may not get in for the time gates open. May be 11 or a bit later... Though may end up different tht day who knows. Just to give you a heads up

I know how you feel Caro, I've got court 1 tickets for tomorrow, dreadful forecast though  Although liking the fact that Ferrer didn't play his amtch today so I get a chance to see him play. Although as Andy's match is last on centre I'm thinking to try to get centre court tickets at the ticket resale, no idea about how long one usually has to wait and whether this is worth it or not?? Any advice would be much appreciated, this will be my first Wimbledon.

Partly is down to luck to be honest. More chance of resale with 3rd match on. If you went very soon after opening to resale you would probably get into centre for Andy. After that I have no idea. Apparently after about 5 more tickets get returned due to freebie people and schools going home... But am sure it changed every day

Good luck! Hope you are successful!

Wow, what a fab four days ive had at Wimby so far. I managed to get Centre Court tics for Monday from Ticketmaster which was very lucky, I had Court 1 Tuesday and Thursday from the Queue and a groundie on Wednesday. What a mad day it was on Wednesday and Federer going out just topped the lot. Could this finally be Andy's year?????

Well, the forecast for the Wimbledon area is terrible - raining from 10am to 6pm. Whereas the forecast for my home town is dry all day except chance of rain between 10 & 11am! So they could be wrong. I'm ready to go so I think I will.

That's odd - the Beeb weather (and forecast last night on the news) was for rain mid-morning and later afternoon from about 5pm but between 12 and 4 there'd be a 'window' of mostly dry weather.

Good Luck Linda and all the others going today - hope you get some tennis!

Hello,

I have never queued at Wimbledon before as I was lucky enough to get tickets in the ballot over the last few years. I am really keen to get a grounds ticket tomorrow, and am wondering what time I need to be in the queue? I don't mind not getting a show court ticket, but really want a grounds ticket. Any advice would be really appreciated. Also, any advice on how the queue works would be fantastic.

Thanks.

I got to the queue at 5.45am this morning and got a Court 2 ticket. This worked out quite well as during the rain delays they showed coverage of the centre court, so I had a nice comfy seat rather than sitting on the ground on the hill. I saw two women's matches (which are much more interesting when seen up close to the players as you are on court 2, rather like at Boodles) and although it was disappointing not to see Verdasco, I saw two thirds of Andy's match and a bit of Laura's on the screen.

Well done! I tried again but no good, might try for back row ones. You could have seats anywhere, mine Wednesday were row O. The seats are allocated when you buy depending where you were in the queue but you find out when you get there. Basically they have them in an envelope with your details and you just pick up.

Row O still better than row Z I guess. Somewhere on my order it said seats 11 and 12 or something. If that refers to how far in queue that may be pretty far down so may be further back seats. But still all good (even if I end up in row Z lol!)

What are my chances of getting a ticket and being in the first 500 considering I am going to be there from around 9am Monday? Hi. Welcome to the forum!
If you are queuing up overnight monday to try and get tickets for wednesday you have to stay in the queue and can't get grounds for tuesday
An option could be to get grounds for tuesday and leave early to queue overnight for wednesday however I have no idea if you would get centre court that way. 1 night may be enough queuing up overnight if you get to the queue say tuesday morning

If you are queueing from Monday morning for Wednesday, you can't go in on Monday and Tuesday - you have to be in the queue (you can leave the queue for short periods for necessary things like getting food, but you can't stake your place then go off for the day). I think you'd definitely have to be there Monday morning to be in the first 500 for Wednesday - people are queueing so early this year.

One good thing - you won't get sunburnt up there! One year I was down in the bottom corner, to the left of the Royal Box as you look at it, which is the last corner to lose the sun in the evening - that was a very long day to be sitting in the sun!:wimberry:

Linda
30-06-2013, 19:20
The earliest car park to open is Car Park 6 which opens at 6am and costs £20 or £25 (I forget which). On Friday I was too early for the car park so went into one of the front garden car parks, which cost me £20. The lady who owned the house said that she opens at 5am each morning. There are a whole lot of houses near AELTC doing this, they try to flag you down as you arrive. I will definitely go to her again.

Haven't been on the forum since my (only) trip to Wimby this year on Friday. We got to the queue at 6.30 and I was queue number 2646. The time actually flew by in the queue. Saw Linda who was in the line next to us.

Our plan was always to get straight in the re-sales queue so we legged it straight there when the gates opened. There were probably about 40-50 people in front of us! The stewards warned us we would have at least a 6 hour wait in the rain ..... and rain it did but the time actually passed quite quickly and we could see the big screen so watched Laura win. We heard that they closed the re-sales queue after an hour or so - don't know if that is normally the case.

Anyway, we were over the moon to finally get our CC tickets at 4.40pm which was in the 3rd set of Almagro / Jerzy so we saw him win and all of Andy's match. We were buzzing - definitely worth it and all for £30 (£20 ground pass plus £10 re-sale ticket). Our seats were in the middle section, row H, right in the centre so great view of the court and close enough to see the players expressions.

So what was looking like a wash out turned into a great day for us.

So glad you enjoyed your day Caro. As you say time in the queue flies by. Having said that the longest I have spent at resales is 4 hours so you beat that by quite some way but it was clearly worth it! That is brilliant Caro! So glad you got to watch Andy after waiting a while in resales! Well worth the wait! Had similar on Wednesday

On Wednesday I had planned to get ground passes and then try resales which was harder as Andy was only 2nd on court 1. Queuing up at 6:50 I wasn't let in unfortunately till 11:30 and feared my chances but was 40-50 in the queue. I found Andy practising. After practise he said he'd try and give me his towel after his match for the charity raffle and to ask one of his team or something.

The resale queue went relatively quickly. Saw bits on Aorangi, big screen and court 18. Once a few tickets started coming it was painfully agonising! Most wanted centre for fed but say about 3/4 wanted court 1. During the first match those in front got court 1 and was back to waiting for me! About 2 games in the steward went walking up agonisingly slow saying court 1, court 1 single... I was holding my breath and luckily he reached me! Tried very hard not to run to court 1! Was row R but still very good view! Great match by Andy though Lu hit the ball very well and didn't miss an overhead. Shortly before I thought the match would end I went to the queue at player's exit. Almost didn't get in as they said mainly children as many there! But luckily they let me through. Andy remembered about the towel and gave it to me :) Such a great guy! Embarrassingly was on tv with GB flag wrapped around me lol!

Then went and watched Colin and jonny win which was great! After the match, went to the hill and in a brilliant atmosphere saw the last game and TB for Fed to lose! Awesome day!

grrrrrrrrr no tickets for friday. I was so fast too! :(

Elenive
03-07-2013, 11:15
Oh my!!!!!

I just got a single ticket for Friday! Was really nervous and fidgety when typing in the silly security stuff too! I went on Friday on court 1 and although I still had a great day and saw a really great second round match with Ferrer and watched Andy's Robredo win on the hill, the rain wasn't all that great and I missed going to Aorangi to see the players practice before the covers were up and when it stopped raining and the covers went off we rushed to our Court 1 seat to see Ferrer. So very much looking forward to seeing Aorangi without the covers on this time!!!! (And of course the Men's semifinals!!!!)

Talk about being fidgety waiting for ticketmaster to come through, I'm fidgety even now! Very excited and very happy right now! Also, I have been meaning to type up my blog for last Friday but I'll do it over the weekend now and I'll have another Friday to type up!

Sorry to hear that Drew  Hopefully you'll be lucky in the reserved seating allocation, or even for the final!

Marvellous Elenive, well done! I was at the Men's semis once before though that was the year Andy lost to Roddick . Pity it didn't work out Drew but hopefully you'll be successful another time. I had a fab time on manic Monday and whilst a pity Laura didn't win seen most of Andy's match on the hill when the weather was brilliant,as I'm going to Croatia can't really go down again though.

Thanks James, yeah that was a massive shame when Andy lost to Roddick  Great that you got to see Laura's match on magic Monday! Pity it didn't go her way but looking at the Court 1 schedule for Monday you got some really good matches, the Tomic/Berdy match must have been a great watch!

Yes, you can queue and people do!
Once in the queue you're not supposed to leave your tent unattended or leave Wimbledon Park.

Yes, you can go in and out of the grounds but you need to get your hand stamped and hang on tight to your ticket. I'm not sure how many time you can go in and out of the AELTC.

Had a great day on Monday with my back seat tickets! As others have said you can still see everything and it would definitely not put me off getting them again. My dad came with me this time and was also really pleased with them. Seems to be quite sheltered at the back, more so than when I had my row o tickets last week so nice and cosy. People up there were all nice too and really into the tennis. Still managed to get photos ok. Only 1 thing - we were by the lift and it kept pinging which was a bit annoying. Great day though and well worth doing if you aren't successful in ballot etc.

Well it does mention Gate 4 but I'm a little confused by that because on the website map of the grounds Gate 4 is for Debenture Holders...

Anyway it does say just show the relevant info to the security guards and they will direct you, just thought I'd ask though so I can get to the ticket office ASAP and make my way to Aorangi before it builds up with people!

Wow Hawkeye, you got in really early! I think we had to wait so long in the re-sales queue because of the rain and little prospect of significant play on other courts plus no other big names except Ferrer who was first match on court 1. No-one wanted court 1or 2 re-sales. Despite the long wait, would definitely do it again.

Glad you had a great day themass. Did you have a good seat?

Had a pretty good seat Caro. I was in Row J opposite the Royal Box and it was pretty amazing. Not sure I could afford to do it again but the day couldn't have turned out better, especially after the start of the Ferrer v Delpo match when I didn't think it would continue and then I thought Andy was going to be walloped by Verdasco. Couldn't have been more wrong, thank goodness!

Yeah tough call, although I would personally probably give in to the lifetime experience, especially if Andy does get to the final and then wins it... first British winner in 77 years! Although I won't try for final tickets as I'm going tomorrow and can't afford to go on two of the expensive days.

It is a long story as to why I missed it and it will not happen again. We were in Italy in the middle of countryside in Emilia Romagna so there was no possibility of watching it on TV. I have watched the final twice since I've been back and ordered the DVD. I do have 7 sessions of the ATP World Tour Finals to look forward to and am also going to the Paris Masters on 31st October. Doesn't make up for it I know but it helps.

I remember well 1990 as I was in hospital after a major operation. I had so many visitors each afternoon and evening. I was in a two-bedded room and when the other patient was discharged was entirely alone which I didn't mind as visitors made up for it. There was a large lounge close by for patients to socialise and there was a tv in the room. On the Saturday before the Wimbledon Final I instructed everyone that I didn't want anyone visiting for the Men's Final. I made my way to the TV room and it was empty. This was great and I settled down to watch the match. Then I heard a voice "Hello Miss, how are you?" One of my Sixth Form students walked in with flowers and chocolates. I looked at her and told her it was lovely to see her but I'd asked for no visitors. She laughed telling me she knew I was a tennis fanatic and she wouldn't stay long. We sat in silence watching the match and having a few chocolates. I felt awful really especially as before she left she took my flowers and put them in a vase in my room. We laughed about it afterwards. It was also World Cup Year and I was probably the only person who didn't see Gazza cry!!
