Oh I hear you, Caro - had a similar problem last time. Flying can be such a headache, just can't be doing with the liquid allowances etc so taking the train this time. Going to kick back and enjoy the route through the Lake District. Does mean traveling on the Thurs and Mon, but I always do that anyway.
Anyhow, looking forward to seeing you soon - hope I'm sat near you as per. We'll go mental! Yay for team Carosiebear!! :cheer::cheer::jitterbug::jitterbug::GBflag:

Yay, I love that RB! Really hoping to see lots of you this weekend. Are you staying with your friends again or the PI?

Luckily I have another bag, loaned by a colleague at work which is the right size. The only good thing about flying is getting home on the Monday with some day left to sort things out before going back to work on Tuesday. We were trying to save money by not staying Thursday night but the flight is so early Friday morning, we'll be falling asleep by 8pm! Wishing now that we were coming on Thursday by train ... but at least we'll be there which is what matters. Getting really excited now!! :boogie::yahoo::excited::excited:

You could have got a return for about £52.00 and it only takes approx hour longer each way by the time you've done all the usual hanging around at airports ...

Looking forward to meeting so many of you on Friday. I've had an extra busy week with a family wedding, squishing 5 days of work into 3.5 days so that I can fly Thursday. Slightly concerned about the severe drop in temperature as it's been 30 degrees here and somehow don't think that's going to be the case at the weekend!

All the old t-shirts dug out and hooter and whistle at the ready. (re whilstle: small and noisy - what more could you ask for!)

Couldn't find any info on a left luggage facility at the Emirates so I'm using left luggage at Glasgow Central. Means I'll have to call back at the station before going to my hotel but saves trekking to the hotel to drop my bag off before going to the arena on Fri morning. £8 for 4-24 hours storage at Central

Yes, I also heard from people on the other side that we were a "sea of blue" and "loud" and that we looked "great" - I guess that was us and the BATS group behind us (us being the best section of course :jitterbug: )

Great photo. I've seen lots of different ones of our group on various sites. British Tennis tweeted several of our group, including Anna as Fan of the Day on Saturday. Nice that they used a pic of our group to tweet their thanks for all the fan support.
I'm going to watch it all again on TV, only managed the first two games of Andy v Delpo so far and already seen great shots of Roy, Supergran, Caro and Gill to name a few. We must be on a lot because I got loads of texts & emails saying "we've seen you on telly", followed by "you're on telly AGAIN". we're everywhere! I was on tv dancing away to "Happy" and again screaming out "one more game" looking bedraggled. Someone told me "you're in a British Tennis tweet". Seriously! Yes, there I was!
I think the banner was a great idea - someone on the other side although remarked how good it was. I remember discussions on this subject after GB vs Japan in March. Well, we seem to have succeeded in almost rivalling the Barmies.

Hi Everybody! I am just returned safely home about 30 minutes ago. Still have my coat on and had to 'waken' the wifi! Where to begin! I had the most fantastic weekend. We were treated to some sensational tennis and it's a privilege to cheer our boys on! So much so I left my voice behind me at the Emirates! (As the day wore on, it came back a bit, but still quite hoarse. But that is of no matter) Worth it all! Another memorable DC weekend. Doesn't our Andy just give his heart and soul for our team! I well up when I think of how he left it all out there. Thank you so much to all those who organised tickets, group meal and of course, Cardboard Andy! It made it all so enjoyable and I appreciated it so much. It was great to renew friendships already made from Ghent and Brum and hi to all you lovely people I got to meet this time...great to put faces to names. You are the most amazing group and I miss you all so much - going to take me a few days to settle down again. There are still a few I would like to have met, but maybe next time! Teresa and I went to Dunblane this morning (was I really in Dunblane this morning??Seems unreal now!) We had the most interesting time. I enjoyed every moment. Got the obligatory pic at the gold post box and went to the Cathedral. Fascinating. Very moving to see the plaque commemorating the tragedy at the Primary School. We then went to the museum where we encountered Andy's P7 teacher! Could have listened to her all day. She speaks very fondly (and proudly) of Andy and especially Jamie. And her daughter sang at Andy's wedding! Our final call was to a lovely coffee shop for a well earned rest and a cuppa. Imagine my surprise when the owner, who is a Murraynator, recognised me from a picture that had gone on their website!! Wow! Fame at last!! And to cap it all off, the weather was magical. Dunblane is beautiful, and I really didn't want to leave. I felt close to Andy!
I am off now to catch up on all the posts and read about how everyone else fared. :grouphug:

Edit: I'm so sorry...I have just noticed above post and think I should have posted this on another thread. Sorry Cazza. I posted before I read!

The photos British Tennis seem to be using from this tie do seem to feature AMFF and Murraynators, rather thän the Barmy Army. I do think that isn't accidental and they realise that great as they are, the Barmy Army have had a lot of coverage in the past and they want to acknowledge other groups. As Sally said in her speech at the meal the LTA do appreciate our efforts. Someone just needs to tell the TV commies....they still just bang on about the Barmy Army even while showing pics of AMFF

:grouphug:

How lovely Pat, that's a trip to treasure. So glad you did that, makes up for you not getting a selfie (sure you will one day) Someone on Murraynators FB page went to Cromlix Hotel today and Andy was there with Judy, playing wih Sophia in the garden. They were very respectful of privacy and did not take photos , but said Sophia is blonde and beautiful

Got home about 5.30 after another fantastic weekend with the AMFF. Thanks Sally, great seats. Thanks to Angie and Ally for organising venue for meal and to James for sorting out transport. Obviously not the result we wanted but can't fault effort from team and Andy and Jamie were fantastic. On Sunday Andy once again showed his commitment to the D.C..Hope he's recovering and resting. I love the Davis Cup, love the team and love my tennis family. Thanks everyone for your concern for supergramps and for me. More thanks for your company and friendship. Haven't laughed so much for quite a while. Let's do it again next year.:GBflag::bravo:

My cousin (not a tennis follower) phoned me earlier this evening to say she had seen me on the TV news report on Saturday. As others have said, it was a great weekend of tennis (despite the overall result) great company and a lovely meal on Saturday so thanks again to all who organised everything so well. I am glad Andy has found some time to relax with Sophia today and hope he can put on a good exhibition on Wednesday for those of you lucky enough to be going to that. Now where are we going next year?

The tennis was fantastic - will try to watch Andy v Del Potro again on catch up.

A couple who moved into my hotel (I don't own it, I just stayed there) on Saturday said they'd sat with Stirling Uni crowd on Friday, but when I told her i was sat directly opposite, with the AMFF people, she commented on how well coordinated we were !, I think she meant not just cos everyone was in blue, but in level of support..

Great Britain fans cheer on Andy Murray
It had developed into a classic and when Del Potro served for the set at 5-4, the home favourite produced a sensational lob at set point down to claw it back. He broke his man to take it to 5-5 and walked back to the baseline eyeballing the crowd and not over-celebrating. He was focused like a laser and held his serve to go 6-5 up.

Del Potro took it to the tie break but was never ahead. Murray took it 7-5 and was a set away from victory.

Ah yes THAT moment will live with me forever. The look on Andy's face said "you guys get me and we are in this together". Lovely that he used pic of that moment on FB thanking everyone for their support. He obviously bookmarked that moment in his mind as a highpoint of the crowds support. And by crowd I mean AMFF because he directed it right at us

Oh what a weekend, unfortunately, l wasn't able to come to Glasgow to be with AMFF, bad timing on my part of going on holiday, but reading the posts and seeing the photos, l know that team GB had the usual brilliant support from everyone there. I was, of course, disappointed that we didn't manage to get the win we needed to go onto the final:grrr: normally, l feel very down for a while after Andy loses, but l know that there was nothing else that Andy could have given in his match against Del Potro, so not feeling to bad at the moment. It was great to hear that he was playing with Sophia, hopefully she will be giving him lots of cuddles :highfive:.:grouphug: Can l also say a BIG thank you once again to Patlowe for keeping me updated by text on Friday and Sunday with the team scores :thanks::flowers:

I had to sit behind the BBC camera (up above) and, therefore, got a nice view of Barker, Lloyd and Baker. Barker and Baker seemed to allow the general public to read their notes. Barker then got straight onto her iPad and showed holiday photos on the Friday. On all three days, I sat next to the same woman. On the Friday and Sunday, she had her gran sitting next to her. Her gran didn't get up once to have a 'comfort break' during the two matches.

Just to repeat what everyone else has already said. Another fabulous weekend in great company cheering on our boys. Thanks to everyone who helped make it so amazing, you are all very special. It was lovely to meet up with old friends and to meet some new faces, but once again there were so many people I didn't get a chance to speak to.

I was an emotional wreck when I got home on Sunday evening, a combination of disappointment at the result, crashing down from the adrenalin high of the weekend and a very large glass of wine consumed far too quickly! I had no voice yesterday and felt absolutely shattered, thank goodness I had the day off.

Now that my equilibrium is restored, I think we can be so proud of how well we've done, getting to the semis after winning last year is no mean feat. We possibly still rely a bit too heavily on Andy to get us through but we're definitely making progress.

From all the photos of us and the number of people who saw me on tv, we were certainly very visible and I'm sure the team appreciated it. Hope so anyway. Well done everyone. Maybe we should patent a new type of fitness class, all that jumping up and down, waving flags and pom poms, dancing and clapping needs a lot of stamina!

Angie, love your idea of a February get together if it's an away tie that most of us can't get to.

Liverpool has had a lot of work done in the past few years. A bunch more hotels too. Three have gone up near me. Bunch of good restaurants around Liverpool one as well now. Manchester is great though, KevD lived there for years. A lot of hotels and restaurants. Though I don't recommend the Ibis in Salford Quays. One of the worst places I've ever stayed! Well after some complaining to each other about affordability I think myself, Kev D and Yellowlivi will not be able to make it to this tie. Unless in some shocking step away from the usual, they decide to host it in Totonto. Kev D and I are hiking the Inca trail next year so funds are low. It seems like many can't attend so a big screen will be great. Caro is right, Birmingham is probably easier to reach for everyone. Liverpool is great though. Manchester is a bit pricey (especially for parking!!) but really we will travel anywhere. Kev D works in Gaydon at the moment so Birmingham is fine for him.

First chance to get on the forum since returning. First and foremost, thanks to Sally for being a wonderful organiser and a wonderful woman - these trips that light up people's lives would not be possible without you, Sally, and they mean more to us than we can express.

Thanks also to everyone else for more fabulous fun and friendship on another unforgettable weekend.

As for Angie's suggestion - Caro and I were discussing exactly the same thing, so totally up for it. We were thinking of a function room in a hotel so that we can all stay together? And we thought B'ham because it's so central and because if the PI Brindley Place was available, it has an excellent enclave of pubs and restaurants in very close vicinity, for easy socialising?

Brum fine for me, can get there direct by rail from Glasgow or Edinburgh, anywhere north of that probably fine as well

Timing of matches could be awkward if its in Vancouver, if it was a 1pm local start then that would be 9pm start in the UK till 3/4/5am so need a function room with a 24 hour licence :wino:

Am sure someone can find one :D

Brum very easy for me too. Would be totally up for it, watching alone at home on the TV just seems inadequate nowadays. Let's face it we're all adrenaline junkies after all the recent home ties :barmy:

First chance to get on the forum since the weekend as been away with work again! (groan).

Sad we didn't get the result we all wanted but he lads did us proud and tried their hearts out. Thanks again to Sally, Angie, Ally, James and Maureen for organising tickets, seats, meal, bus and flag - it all added up to a great weekend despite the result.

If there is a silver lining to be had its that not spending any cash on a Nov final will mean some cash for Feb. Canada is awfy tempting!

Just back from Scotland after spending a few days visiting friends and getting over the tension of that last match. :nailbiter::nailbiter:

Silverdee and I would like to say a big thank you to Sally for all her marvellous organisation and also to James for arranging the minibus. :thanks: It was great to meet so many of you in person and put faces to some of the names we see on here. It's a real family feeling and we are so glad to be part of it.

Well having seen the venues chosen for recent ties I would say Vancouver is odds on, especially as it's winter and will be freezing! I have been and it is a fabulous city but just too far unless bolting on a holiday which I can't do. Very envious of those who might be able to get there .... but also very happy with the thought of a meet up.

Very good point made by JimmyG re: the time difference ... I wonder whether we will be able to find anywhere to watch it?!! I really hope we can ...

They are still selling ubc hockey tickets on ticketmaster today for 3rd and 4th Feb at the Thunderbird sports centre along with lots of other dates, is there another venue in Vancouver?

Excellent Teresa!
I managed to get a similar photo (well, obviously it was me rather than you!) in the summer when I persuaded my tennis-indifferent husband that we should do a detour on our way home from the Fort William area!!

Can people discuss the Canadian tie in the correct thread and keep this thread for discussing experiences at the semis with Argentina.
