That comes out to about 800 seats. I wonder if there will be some French as well in those blocks.

Well there is no way that they will give us 800 seats so guess some of theirs at the back, very back is a lower category

Caro - I noticed there were some problems listed on here with rooms at the Astrid, was everything ok with your room? We booked through booking.com and it hasn't come up with any problems but I'm wondering if I should contact the hotel
Also booked through booking.com but I didn't actually book it, Aimee did so will get her to check with the hotel. Hope we're all ok.

Here's a flag up for those peeps staying at any of the Ibis hotels. I enquired whether there would be coffee/tea making facilities (ie a kettle) and got the following reply: "On 2017-03-12, ibis Rouen Centre Rive Droite wrote
Hello

Sorry but for safety reasons the electrical installations of the rooms are not made to support kettles! You may blow the pellets out of your room.
However during your stay if you need hot water ask there at the bar which will provide you with no problem." Will the electrics cope with multiple chargers for phone, ipad, camera etc without blowing up, with or without pellets?

Didn't think Tea/coffee makers were standard in French hotels, although according to Expedia the one Jackie and I are staying in does.

Seems the forumistas did well on the ticket hunt today and will be in Rouen in great numbers and with tickets. Wondering if we may have even bought more than we needed. My wife and I managed some for the pot. Great thanks to RosieBear for the pooling thread, not forgetting JerryD

I'll now have to cancel everything, as it came through and I found all Category 2 tickets have been sold out and they're now wanting about £229 for Category 1. So, Plan B was going to be for me to go to Cambridge as I recently found out that one of my relatives (on my mother's side) owned the ground which is now called Fenner's.

Teresa
14-03-2017, 11:36
Stell - I am giving up for now. I wouldn't change your arrangements just yet. Remember in Ghent, suddenly more tickets became available when the Belgium Tennis Clubs returned unsold tickets. Your travel isn't refundable, but the hotel is, so you might as well hang on. Nearer the time, you might find people needing to off load tickets because they suddenly can't go for some reason.

Not in Cat 2 though. Having said that Cat 2 only has a relatively small amount of seats.

I think it was only the very back row on the sides, so a token few in cat2, no wonder they all went to the French and quickly

Silverdee
14-03-2017, 15:45
I had noticed on the stadium plan how few Cat 2 seats marked in green there appeared to be. I put it down to the fact that the stadium is so small and so everyone is near the action. Either that or the French wanted to make their money on Cat 1 seats.

Stell
14-03-2017, 18:38
I think the latter, Silverdee.

JerryD

Silverdee
15-03-2017, 10:25

I feel like things are taking shape. Which is good because I really have a mess with work I should be digging out of.

Hope you all have a fantastic time and cheer the team on to a win. I will miss being with you all but MurrayAOne and I will no doubt get together with wine and optimism. I hope so too, it would be great if you could see it on the tv. Hopefully sorting tickets for some murraynators will buy us some favour. Instead of the offered glass of something I'll ask for space for the flag, in the spirit of sharing of course. More bats benefited than murraynators so maybe I'll work on them lol.
I was surprised to find that lots of bats people I spoke to didn't know about wearing red. It kept coming up whilst sorting tickets. I'm sure it came from the LTA so don't know why they wouldn't be aware. One guy even asked me if I was certain that was the case because he had heard blue. I was starting to think I was going nuts.

Although the lady from Bats you put me in touch with (Anji) knew about the Red she had no idea about here.
She does now though and she wants to thank Jerry et all for getting her the tkts.
When I told her all about how we stick together and help each other out, and how this place is a mine of information

I did notice you have to pay €1 deposit for a cup for your drink, to encourage people to return them and not drop them I guess. The menu did show some food but it said that the items on it weren't available at all events. Looks like I will be stashing alpen bars lol

I remember, years ago, I went to something called Turbo Tennis (I think) and it might have been at the Wembley Arena. They didn't allow any bottle tops to be taken in, but did allow the bottles.

I got told, I should have booked a hotel in Liverpool. As I could watch the doubles match and then go to Aintree and watch the Grand National.

Regarding the train tickets from CDG airport to Rouen, as it's impossible to know when you will leave the airport, will advance train tickets be valid on any train?

IS THERE A RESTAURANT ON SITE?
There is no restaurant to speak of. However, you will find a wide range of snacks (sandwiches and other savory snacks, hot and cold beverages, cakes, confectionery, etc.) in the refreshment bins in the Kindarena lobby.

HOW CAN PEOPLE WITH REDUCED MOBILITY ACCESS TO KINDARENA?
People with reduced mobility can access the Kindarena by the lift of the PMR tower, on the Mont-Riboudet parking lot. (See access)
To reach the entrance hall, there is an elevator which allows to bypass the steps. In the hall, specific seats are provided for wheelchairs (about 100 seats on each event).
A specific page will soon be dedicated on our site to persons with reduced mobility, including practical information (access plan, reservation of places online, ...).

just a word of information. If the singles on Day 1 are finished early enough, there may be an important Ice hockey match taking place at the Ile Lacroix, the Arena in the middle of the Island across from the Main city. It is the French league playoff final, game 6 between Rouen and Gap. I say 'may be' taking place, because it is a best of 7 series, and one or the other team may have won by then. However if any-one is interested and has the time to go, check out http://www.rouenhockeyelite76.com/ for information and ticket availability. Any-one with any interest in Ice Hockey would find it well worth a visit.

If you are talking about the car park at the arena then we were told it was free. However, it is for commuters so I'm not sure how that is going to work on Friday. If you end up in the Docks Shopping centre car park opposite, that would be pay on exit with first 3 hours free.

According to one comment on the internet, the arena car park is full by 10 am on weekdays.

According to the website you need to get your parking ticket validated in a shop with a purchase to qualify for the 3 hours free parking plus there is a different rate for match days at Kindarena.

Serbia didn't even allow bottles and the containers were open to spilling or filling up with rain! You had to conceal items at the bottom of a bag there so in this case I will just have a top separate from a small bottle until through security.

Home now. Have to turn up at 08:00 tomorrow to be done. The real problem is if I can't grip my stick properly I am not safe on my feet. A general anaesthetic always knocks me out. It's just not sensible. Can I contact folks about my t shirts and things. If I pay postage can I still have them?

Basically I was cleaning a glass jar and it shattered slicing at least one tendon in the process. One of those freak accidents. However given I could have caught my main artery and killed myself in the process there is much to be thankful for.

Sorry folks. Have a great time.

Oh Teresa when I read how you did that it really made my toes curl. It's quite horrible. You poor thing. I would be happy to collect your items and post to you if that's any good? Gillian lives in Bury St Edmunds but I don't think that's any use? You deserve them after all you've been through. All the best tomorrow. Will be thinking about you. X

Is it a day procedure tomorrow?

It is meant to be, but they have 11 on the list. I am fully expecting to end up staying in. I have cancelled the hotel. There was an outside chance, but dressing myself is awkward enough given my joints, and I am so reliant on my walking stick. I use my arms to compensate for my hips, hauling myself on and off trains will be a non starter. Everything takes twice as long one handed.

Bury sounds good. In a few weeks. I could nip over at a time convenient to Gillian. There is no rush.

Jagmad - can I settle up by PayPal?

Thanks for all the good wishes. However given what's happening in Syria today it's trivial.

Tagged and taxiing. Optimistic that might be cleared for take off shortly.

I am really disappointed, but there just has to be perspective. 100 plus people died in horrendous gas attacks yesterday in Syria. It could also have been much worse. This should heal and I should get the majority, if not all of hand function back. Mind you much as like Dan and Kyle it would be harder to take if I was missing AM. Plus if it had happened before the Belgium final, I would be throwing a spectacular tantrum.

Please note there is absolutely no truth in the rumour that this accident is linked to me being despondent over the resurgence of Feddykins.........!!!!

Thanks for all the good wishes:-)

So by little you meant XXL?

Is there anything worse than a lush with a lock on their money?

Teresa, really sorry about your horrible luck. Get better soon :flowers: It's disappointing not to be able to go, especially as a result of such unfortunate events, but you're so right - although not high on people's list of fears, household accidents are an ever-present danger, so absolutely right to count your blessings it wasn't worse.:phew: :)

Everyone going to Rouen - wishing you safe and smooth travels. Bon voyage mes amis! Enjoy flying the flag and cheering our lads on to the WIN! :GBflag::GBflag::GBflag:

All being well and excluding possible delays, should be in Rouen 8.30-9pm. Go Dan, Kyle, Jamie and Dom!!!! Ok folks, with all of the recent terror and security incidents, security will be heightened at the DC. For those of us at the wtf in Nov 2015 it will be no surprise. This means there may be ID spot checks to confirm that you are not a security risk. It is up to the venue to enforce this. So it may or may not happen.

So my advice would be to bring photo ID incase they do follow through with enhanced security. For those who don't want to carry their passport in everyday just in case, then you could take a drivers licence. There is no cause for concern and like I said the venue might not even carry out these security checks. So it is up to you.

Hope all those going to Rouen over the next few days have a safe journey and a great time hopefully fanatically supporting the team to a win! A September tie would most likely be on home ground. Those of us unable to go for various reasons will certainly support the team from afar even if not quite the same!

Hi Jerry, surely we would only need to show our Passports if we had bought tickets through the LTA or Ticketmaster. You do have to show ID at Roland Garros but that is because the tickets have your name on them.

JerryD
05-04-2017, 16:19
as I stated it is not related to tickets. It is increased security measures. It may or may not happen. I can only relay the LTA stance. The advice from them is for all fans, coaches and players to have ID in case of security spot checks.

So the LTA advise all to carry it due to increased checks due to recent events and the high profile nature of the DC. Regardless of who you are what ticket you have, as it is unrelated to tickets. You can follow the advice or not it's up to you.. I am going to take ID in case these checks do happen. Then if they don't at least I'm covered.

In some European countries it's the law to carry photo id. Don't know about France but I'd rather not be carted off to the police station, so if they say it, I'd do it!

I always have my passport with me when abroad.

Me too.

Although I'm not so organised in other ways. Have been working right up to the last minute, just taken Rex to kennels, then spent half an hour searching for my EHIC as it didn't appear to be in my wallet where it usually is. Have searched all my drawers and my place now looks like it's been burgled. Then I found it was in my wallet all the time, hidden behind my Senior Railcard! (I think the word 'Senior' might have something to do with it :shamed:). And I've been trying to print off a map of Rouen and how to get there but my printer is out of ink! I've no time to go and get an ink cartridge as I'm off to Lent Group shortly, so I'll have to hope that I've committed the map to memory! And I haven't even started packing yet . . . and will be leaving the house at about 6.30am:eek: Also I've just washed a whole machine load of clothes that I need to pack! Hope I can get them dry!

They have done me. Nick on the median nerve, which should heal. The tendon I severed is the vestigial one they borrow for tendon transplants, so they didn't bother repairing it. Keeping me in overnight because the arm is completely numb, an will be for many hours yet. Imagine what your mouth is like after the dentist only on a whole arm scale. Going to be one handed for weeks if not months. Never mind D.C. Hope I can use my hand for Orkney in June....!!!

The cat is going to kill me when I get home...!!!
